Oh what I would do to have an hour to talk to this genius man. He is one of the only people who I could understand why I am so much physical pain from psychological trauma. Swimming and diving has saved my life. Thank you for sharing this video

Yeah, I don’t think I would be happy with an hour, but I would definitely give much to spend a weekend at a retreat with him! His book and work is making a huge impact in my life and the beginning of healing for decades of trauma, abuse, neglect, criminal behavior Which has left me a shattered mess on the ground

@@stevensawyer5924 So sorry, that you feelt the need to excuse yourself for your deafness. It's NOT your deafness that bothers anyone! It's the blinking captions that can trigger the nervous system of traumatized or very sentitive people . That doesn't mean, there is anything wrong with those who can't perceive sound. It's just different needs for diffrent people. I can understand that captions are indispensable if someone cannot percive the soud. And there is a solution that meets anybodys needs: no fixed captions in the video and everyone who needs or likes written text can read the transcript or use the settings button to make the subtitles available. All the best for you!

I don't know if there's a published list of providers, but the more I learned about trauma, the more I understood the different modalities to look for (like EMDR somatic processing, and internal family systems). Then I was able to look for therapists in my area that offered what I believed I needed. I found a trauma therapist, who practiced all three, who has made a big difference for me.
Also, because I've learned as much as I have, I have a good foundation of psychoeducation. I understand what's going on so my therapy appointments are focused on actual treatment of the trauma not education and explaining.
Just understanding, on our own, gets us on our own team and alleviates shame.

No offense intended but I think the real doctor is a friend and friendship, and no therapy nor doctor can cure better than a true friend who cares. I wish there was a friendship corporation. Maybe the robots can save us, they can be Friendliness Incorporated.

@@A_Me_Amy if you find the therapist that’s right for you, they do feel like a true friend. I have shared my traumas with my friends, and some of them really didn’t know how to respond. Some conversations were in validating, and some were validating, but never went deeply enough and healed that wound. Recovery from trauma is an internal job and it’s a lifelong job. I think finding the right therapist is a matter of a combination of finding the right therapy for your temperament, for your need, and the character of that person, as well as their personality. When I became my own manager of my emotional journey, I improved upon my learning and gradually was able to get the precise type of therapy that works best for me. Because only you intimately know who you are, what you feel, and by getting in tune with what you need inside, you can find the right journey to renew yourself.

@@TenTenJ feelings are always negative for many things for me, i just know for sure if you talk to a friend they can give therapy, instead of some person getting paid to talk to you. i understand you, but it is not a problem with what i am saying but a problem with friends in society... A friend can listen a friend can know advice a friend can understand and help... but if you dont have a real friend, then you need and only then does anyone need therapy. So if therapy is what you need it is only because you have no friend. even if you mislable the people you know as friends. friends should be closer and thus should be able to help you more, not less, than a stranger just because you are an individual. we are connected and much more similar internally than externally, and friends have raport and much more... But i get what you are saying, i just must disagree, and keep in mind i have no friends. And have had some like 15 years ago... but my point is if it works for you thats cool, i just wish you had better friends... I want everyone to be friends but i know thats a dream for you right now but i think it is possible for everyone to just be friends, and thus not need emplpoyers or therapists or doctors or anything but friends. idk... im very odd.
