Last two releases of Toyota have the factory infotainment system fitted, it seems. They're no longer putting in locally supplied units with the big frames and small screens. These ugly units will hopefully be phased out with the next updates on the Corollas and RAV4.

I'm looking at the existing Yaris Cross in the UK. This new one looks completely different, larger and (maybe too) similar to other brands. Looks good, but seems to be growing towards the size of the Kia Niro and some Mitsubishi cars.

This car is a major step in toyota southeast asia because of its engine. The code for the engine is 1NR-VE for the gasoline and 1NR-VEX for the hybrid. Sounds familiar? Well because it is the same exact engine that veloz and avanza uses. Will there be a veloz hybrid? There will, at least that what the Indonesia's minister of industry said. He said the development of a veloz hybrid has already started at toyota r&d center at toyota Indonesia. So there will be a veloz hybrid in a very near future.
Seeing the primer coat around the engine bay and underside of the hood detracts from the buying experience, especially since one is shelling 1.6M for this one.
Thanks to Chinese market japanese automaker amping their game up..which they should have done long time ago they get too comfortable and selling less features when it comes to philippine market..not be negative they need to give philippine market a better engine power but the problem with that is philippine consumer always complain about fuel consumption that shouldnt matter if you know you are buying a car whichever brands, that should be the least to worry it always depends on how you drive not everybody get the same fuel consumption. I would prefer a vehicle with more HP than underpower. Can you compare the Yaris Cross HEV against the Corolla Cross V HEV. The specs says the Corolla is bigger, but the ground clearance of the Yaris looks higher.
@@spike286 Corolla cross has the better platform, slightly longer and bigger engine (based from specs). But Yaris Cross has better electronics (USB-C, Wireless Charger, bigger multimedia screen, sun visor and electronic tailgate) and cheaper by 80Kish. That's why I want a comparison between the 2.

this yaris cross got a lot more toys than the european version when it 1st launch about 2yrs ago if i remember correctly, its as basic as any toyota model before it, however it became one of the top selling cars in europe. with this version i can say this will be a hit in Philippines, well depends on its price of course 😂

Specifically, the 2NR-VE for 1.5L and 1NR-VE for 1.3L. This Yaris Cross has the same engine as Vios/Avanza/Veloz/Rush which is the 2NR-VE 1.5L, while the top of the line is a 2NR-VEX 1.5L hybrid. The current Vios in Philippines which is the 3rd Gen also have NR engine family of 4 piston but is the 2NR-FE and 1NR-FE for 1.5L and 1.3L respectively. Raize/Rocky/Ativa engines are from the KR family of small, 3-piston. Current models are: 1KR-VET for the 1.0 turboocharged and WA-VE for the 1.2L. So, no...none of the other cars have the same engine as Raize.

It's the dawn of the crossovers. Nothing wrong with it, but sadly it does look like these influx of new crossovers, MPVs and SUVs are a subtle hint on the eventual replacement of hatchbacks and sedans we all knew and loved back in the day. Yes, #titofeels but think about it.
The appeal of crossovers vs sedans/hatch is the ground clearance. If our roads were better then sedans are still the more economical choice. MPV/SUV vs sedan/hatch is usually the number of people you can add to the road trip. People going for mpv is most likely to use the 3rd row so they dont go for a 5 seater. SUV are mostly just a status symbol or people who want diesel but can no longer get it in smaller cars.

Great for city driving, but not much for high-speed roads like expressways. The wind noise is too loud, kind of like someone put a fan on max setting on your ear.
