I agree. Many channels like to have music added to some scenery shots. Honestly, I'm not watching a travel channel, I'm into it watching life of a guy doing some solo sailing.

I used to crew on a 108 ft 3-masted schooner that went along the Bahamian islands. There was a huge pod of dolphins that came by one evening, and from that point forward, a set of about 10 went with us for days. It is said that dolphins are the spirits of lost sailors, and why they hang out with boats-escorts and comforting creatures that for some reason always make you feel like you’re safe. So nice. What a lovely crossing. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

@@samholmessailing That's great, I love those. The sailing sounds really are great background noise to put on. While you're here I just want to let you know that your channel was a big part of my inspiration to buy a sailboat. You sailing to hawaii was my first introduction to sailing at all actually. I'm launching it in FL in November, maybe I'll see you out there!

Hey Sam. Love the content mate. Looking forward to you sailing down here to Australia 🇦🇺!! Mate. I really hope you don’t always rely on one simple shackle pin to hold that anchor chain up !! If that pops in a storm you don’t want chain and an anchor swinging around and smashing a hole in the hull. Find a better and more secure way with a fail safe backup on longer passages.
Keep up the great work. J

He doesn't use a drone. He has the camera attached to a long, black pole. Great idea drones are prone to a very expensive loss. Sam is practical minded and thinks about what he's doing. the only thing I don't like about what he does though is tetherless swimming. Even in a Hobie 16 I never did that because those things could get away from you simply from being exposed to a sudden and persistent gust. Same with these boats.

Nearby sande dune bays are amazing and there's the nearby town of Bolonia to visit, which has the best preserved Roman ruins of the Iberian peninsula, an entire Roman town modeled after Rome and museum that explains it all. And Tarifa and the five "almadraba" towns around it still catch tuna using the exact same techniques as the Romans did. Finally, spectacular hiking around Betis and Punta Paloma, or just the beach hike between Bolonia and Punta Paloma. But watch out for those 16+ knot levante winds

12:50- "I just wanna be dry!" 😅I think you might have chosen the wrong lifestyle for that.🤣
Much respect, though... and there's an important lesson here: if you wait until your boat is 100% watertight, you will never go anywhere. Meanwhile, you are going EVERYWHERE. Maybe try stowing your clean laundry in plastic tubs (or dry bags; more stowable) when on passage will help with that small problem?

I love the ocean it's always wet, salty, sometimes cold, and either calm or turbulent.

Not much at all. Sometimes a boating safety certificate that you can do online.

Don't know how many followers you have from Gibraltar, but I live here. I'm sure you had problems getting into the marina last time you stopped in Gib, hoping it's smoother sailing this time around.

That main sail bag is a great idea. Sure beats tying off a buncha reef points. That water looks beautiful at the beginning there almost like you had a polarizing lens in front of the camera. Those dolphins are definitely hanging with you there probably having a ball with something different.
Wow you're planning an Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean? Better wait until after the spinner season so we're talking wintertime here. Is Ann coming with you? Hope so that's gonna be a long, lonely trip without her now that you've met her.
