    I just made this pie, and really, it is the best pumpkin pie ever. I absolutely love your recipes. Also, I made the whipped cream, but instead of water, I used unsweetened coconut yogurt, and it turned out great. I wanted a little yogurt for the healthy live bacteria. Thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes and for explaining why you do certain things to get the right consistency, etc.

    My boyfriend has prostate cancer. I have been baking sweet desserts for him on a consistent basis and using organic refined sugar (most of the time) i’m not using refined sugar anymore after his PSA went up…and will use dates instead to replace refined sugar. All the latest scientific studies point to sugar as contributing to cancer growth, also dairy is linked to prostate cancer as well(and what others?? Take the leap, safe to assume, not just one type of caner). When searching for a whole food based recipe, i knew when your channel popped up in the search that i could trust this recipe to be a healthy alternative. Thank You 😊 .

    I didn’t have QUITE enough almond flour, so supplemented with a smidge of coconut flour and found I needed to cook the crust a bit longer. I think coconut flour holds on to moisture more than almond.

  • @men2dewy
    @men2dewy 3 года назад +10

    This recipe is so good it replaced the one I used to make with eggs. Is better in regard to taste and texture. Being used to less sugar (I used only 1/4 cup sugar in my old recipes) I use fewer dates than Jill does, 3 1/2 ounce of dates is plenty for my taste. I also down sized the crust recipe, keeping the proportions the same.

    I have one request: please, please when using dates, give the number of dates (yes, I realize it matters which type, but you can explain that), OR, even better, give us the weight in grams. This simple thing makes it so much easier for us to replicate, and measuring dates is not fun, squishing them down into a measuring cup for no reason. I beg of you! :-)

      Maybe I'll experiment with ww pastry flour - it will probably turn out like a brick though, haha.

      I have often used an oat flour based crust that I found on a vegan blog. It uses oat flour, and a mix of nut butter (you could use any seed butter or coconut butter) mixed with some water and maple syrup. The nut/seed butter allows it to not be too tough

    Jill, this looks good, but I have nut allergy, wonder if I can use oat flour instead of almond?

      The same crust made with oat flour comes out really dry and barky. There are many nut free crust recipes on Pinterest that you could try.

    Hello how are you doing I hope everybody over there in the show is doing really good I recently found out that I cannot eat red meat anymore and also I have a allergic reaction to Burger bread thank you very much for posting the video for making naan bread I'm very very angry right now about how other people are thinking that certain things are vegan and vegetarian are like Heather is not enough vegan and vegetarian places where people can actually go to get this stuff there's only one place in Hamilton that I know of and that's expensive but I do got to say your taco pizza looks really good made it really does look good I'm one of those people that like he's hot stuff like hot peppers jalapeno peppers ghost peppers stuff like that but I would like to find a location in where live which is Hamilton Ontario where there is more food for vegan people and vegetarians I'm not sure what type of person I am right now all's I know is that if I eat red meat sorry I have to leave the room and also there's not very many how you say groups or even people to talk to about certain things that's what I'm really disgusted about how there's not anything to talk to anybody about anything I did have a idea but I found out that it's going to cost me way too much money or something like that if I open up a restaurant type thing for this stuff like this tell you the truth I think it would actually be beneficial the reason I'm saying that says if there is more of a place where people can I go to to talk two people about certain things and also to be taught certain things but there's nothing like that here in Hamilton

    I tried a recipe very similar to yours. My almond flour crust stuck to the glass pie plate. Why?
    Also, for filling I used 1 and 1/4 c date paste. My filling tasted strongly of date paste rather than pumpkin, despite the can of pumpkin purée and 2 & 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie seasoning. Thoughts?
    Thx so much!

      Hmmm, sometimes my pie crust sticks a bit too. It is probably better to just lightly oil the pie plate before putting in the crust. It is not enough oil to worry about.
      In the date paste, I am just now starting to experiment with it. It seems pretty concentrated and the brands vary because they use different kinds of dates. I would start with a smaller amount and then taste the batter to see if it needs more.

    I’m excited to make this for thanksgiving but I am wondering if the pie AND the cashew cream will still be good a day or two or three after. I don’t want to make it early and have it start to breakdown at all. Any suggestions?

      If you keep the cashew cream in an airtight container in the fridge it will be good for days. The pie does wonderfully being chilled for days also. =)

    Hi Jill. I’m making your Oreo cake today. The recipe call to ground 2 cups of oats. If I found already ground oats in the store how many cups do I need?
