    I don't know, but this reminds me more of the " Ovsiankina effect" more than the "Zeigarnik Effect". The Ovsiankina effect is the tendency to pick up an interrupted action again when it has still not been achieved.

    Fascinating subject. Except that I believe that I had never completed a personal project in my life. Ever. Yes I had finished whole cans of cashews. Whole large ags of potato chips. Whole chocolate cakes. I Never completed a book. Never cleaned a whole room in my home completely. So wassup with me?

      You probably don't see the point in doing that. You are not clear on why you want to read the book or why you want to finish the project it'll be much easier, also you can try splitting it into many small chunks and record your progress.
