Yeah, after I finished the review I found that. However, I believe that something like that should be obvious to switch out. I still think this is a great red dot even though I missed it.
@@thetexasgunvault They show this feature on the Amazon sale page(description/pictures), and the manual (description/images), not sure how you missed it being the main selling point of this optic and why people spend the extra cash to get the multi-reticle version, I believe this oversight deserves and edit. Other than that great video.
Have a 407C x2 on my PDP compact but was looking for something even more budget friendly for my Taurus G3C. Ordered this one based on your review. Can't wait to try it out at the range. Specs say you can cycle the reticle off and have dot only. Will try it and see.
i got one in green for the rms footprint. i like it, but have not gotten to the range yet. i got the one with a dedicated dot, but I think the ones with the ritical can switch between it and a dot. this was what I saw when i picked it out on amazon.
Just saw this and found your video. Although you don't do torture tests, I trust your opinion. Now, one grip is the hood thickness and the ability to remove the battery tray without out screws. usually use another brand that I have had no issues with, but like the dual redical. Keep it up, Jason 👍🏽 might have to do a drop or 2 sometime and some racks. Just my opinion, although I'm not planning on abusing my firearms 😂😂
I was looking get one but i was looking at 3 moa green dot n i need plate for p320 m18 any recommendation plates for sig p320 m18/xfive legion to mount rmr optics?
I bought a PMD504 for a home shotgun , the circle dot is perfect my application . The laser bore sight for shotguns I bought on Amazon with the Votatu saved me ammo because the red dot was dead bullseye with slugs the first shot. So far the sight has held up to 50 rounds of high brass slugs and OO buck. I like the MOTAC saving battery power. A word of advise from an electrician, NEVER use the cheap Chinese batteries that come with any optic, throw it away and go buy duracell or energizer. 50% of problems with any electronic optics comes from these junk batteries.
I have 2 of these on my P80 G19 clones. Closing in on a year and they are still going. I was worried about the battery popping out but that hasn't happened yet the hood on the lens being so far forward doesn't fit in my holsters with small hoods for the dot. For the price, you can't beat this dot. There is a “full size” version I just picked up that I'm going to try out on either my PCC or budget shotgun.
Thanks for the review. As I often do, I’m watching after I bought one. 🤷♂️ I’m going to give this one a fair shake. I think many times I’m just having off days at the range and blame my optic. I should just give in and understand it’s probably me! All I really really need it to do is hold zero as I’m not taking the gun I have it on to war anytime soon. It won me over simply by having the rear sight notch on an optic made for a full-size slide. Many other companies only offerthat with their micros for some reason.
You may need to look at the instructions. Chances are you can switch between circle/dot/circle dot the same you can with some of the Holosun optics. On Holosuns, you hold down the minus button for about 3 seconds to switch between them.
@@TAGriff5432 I have a frame and slide assembly on its way for a full size Dagger that I intend to use as my HD handgun. After I've put several hundred rounds through it and am confident that it will server that role well. I have a Canik SFX Rival Dark side. It's a great gun but it's got a stupid light trigger and I have that one for Competition shooting anyway. It's currently got a Holosun 507gr/dot/reticle and I think I might repurpose it to the Dagger and then maybe get this budget optic to put on the Canik instead. I unfortunately not only spent way too much money on guns over the last year but I've also spent almost as much money on optics and other "accessories" or upgrades too. On a separate topic. Something that I've been thinking of that no one seems to discuss or bring up is the fact that if I were involved in a self-defense shooting; whether it's deemed justified or not, it's pretty much guaranteed that the firearm used for the defense will be confiscated as evidence. I know everyone likes those Wilson Combat and Staccato gucci guns that cost upwards of a couple grand. But if I'm going to use something for self defense knowing that it will get taken and that I may not get it back, I think I'd rather use a reliable $300-$600 gun as a "sacrifice" HD than a $2000+ gun in its place.
Thanks for the info. I checked and found it, but it was not obvious. I try and review these from the perspective of an average gun person. I feel that products like this would have obvious controls and be easy to use.
I’ve always preferred iron sites; but, I’m considering a red dot for my G43X, just to try it. This seems like a good product. I use a light/laser for my home defense Canik SFT PRO.
I think you have the single dot version and not the multiple reticle version ,if you did you could have changed it the dot only so the circle would have not obstructed you vision.
I have the Holosun 407K X2 in FDE on a FDE MRD FN Reflex, it has a red dot only. (that was an alphabet soup of model numbers) I also have the Holosun 507K-GR-X2 in black, and it is slated for another MRD FN Reflex in black. The 507K has the circle with the center dot in green. You can run it with both the circle and the dot, circle only, and dot only. I previously put the 507 on Taurus TX22c to get used to dots, as I had never used a red dot. I originally was going to put the 507 on my Hellcat, but it would not co-witness with the iron sights. When I got the FDE Reflex, I went ahead and put the 507K on it, and to my surprise, the iron sights co-witnessed perfectly. So I ordered a 407K in FDE for it and am saving the 507K for a black Reflex. This one looks like it would be a good candidate for the S&W Equalizer I recently acquired, thanks for the review.👍
Just ordered mine for a CANIK METE SFX 5.25 and caint wait ....a Riton I have now is just bluck not clicks and Riton will say other wise ( Horrible customer service ) but just doesnt perform. Cant wait VOTATU now has a website and I hope like Holosun they advance and grow and become a real competitor!
Compare the reticle to a holosun or eotech in the circle dot mode and see which is crisper and smaller. Use a peep sight or magnifier to really examine which dot is more precise
Very nice review. Short but covered everything I was looking for. One thing, when you mentioned that it only had a reticle and that put questions in my mind. I searched two other websites and both showed pictures of the options. They were: 1. just the red dot 2. just the reticle and 3. Both one and two. Hope to view more of your videos soon. Thanks
I got me a Smith&Wesson M&P 2.0 4.25 inch barrel.I was looking at the Crimson Trace 1550,but I don’t like it isn’t waterproof, and the battery is at the bottom.I am trying not to spend a arm and a leg for one,cuz it is my first Red Dot,and I just don’t have it to shell out right now for a real expensive one.I like everything about this one,but it not being a actual Red Dot.I was wondering do you have any other recommendations?
Hi Jason! Awesome review! I am new to your channel and was checking some budget red dot for my Taurus 9mm. Any chance you can do a review on the taurus? Im planning to get the g3c, after watching your videos, i can say you do give some really honest reviews. Thanks and more power to your channel. Your new subscriber from Wisconsin.
I think I have done a review on it, but it has been awhile. It is a gun I should revisit if I get the chance. Thank you for your kind words about my channel!
A budy of mine has this on his glock, you can change the dot/retacle on it. He hasnt had any issues with his and really likes it
I am very impressed with it.
My PMD 504 has multiple reticles , circle , circle and dot , and just dot. I wanted an inexpensive optic to put on a Tisas PX9 , been good so far

It made the pistol look very nice 👍
I agree. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. Do you prefer this votatu red dot or the cyelee wolf red dot? Which do you think is better and more durable overall? Thanks
I like them both and it would be a hard choice. Maybe the Cyelee I think is a little better. But they are so close.
