My parents never once hugged me but they felt they did enough by putting food before me,clothes were given from time to time ,got in to school system and there was a roof over my head….they allowed me to have friends come over and me have sleep overs.That sums up entire parenting.And yes when I got injured or very sick they took me to a doctor.They did not stop me from buying books with my allowance because I was an avid reader.I had cousins come over and stay with us and I also went and stay with them at their house.Family weddings were the times we had reunions.They let me cook food at around 9 and wash my clothes by myself.They never sat down to see how I did my homework but criticized me if I got low scores.They bragged about me being a good student only after I left home to do higher studies….never in front of me.They taught me all the religious things and all the cultural nuances that I follow till this day.
