Sarah Jane was nonlethal, Doctor Who was save someone, Torchwood was kill 'em all. Then there was the Children. That was really messed up.

Children of Earth was basically identical to "The Quatermass Conclusion" from 1979. Dr Who always ripped off Nigel Kneale's work, partly as a homage, as much of his work was exceptional, and partly cos Kneale hated Dr Who so much, that it was a fuck you to him.
The New Who years haven't just stooped to ripping off Kneale, like Old Who did, but RTD self-plagiarised heavily with episodes like "School Reunion", which was a reworking of RTD's own series, "Dark Season" (from 1991), and New Who writers like Tom McRae ripping off Old Who with stories like the two-parter "Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel" which was a rework of the Troughton story, "The Invasion". ("The Invasion" has missing episodes, but they have been recreated using animation, and so the old story they thought no-one would ever see, is available again.)
The problem with getting old, is you see everything getting redone. I don't always mind that, but I do mind when they try and pass off old stuff as completely new work.

Adam was such a cool unique idea for an alien and and antagonist! Also finally gave us a look into Jack's past and shows how much he's willing to give up for the sake of the team. He could have kept that twisted memory of his dad and Gray, but he didn't.
The Doctor once named dropped someone called “The Could’ve Been King with his Army of Meanwhiles and Never-Weres”. I suspect maybe Adam is one of these never-weres, a survivor of the time war perhaps.
I don't think Adam was involved in the Time War since he just doesn't really seem to have that shell-shocked seen-it-all air about him that you'd expect from a survivor, unless of course Adam's involvement in the War was only brief like that of Davros and the Master. But I do like the idea that Adam probably is indeed directly related to the Neverwere like the stone "footprints of the Neverwere". :)
I always think that Adam is a Eternal.

Oh wow. I never thought about it that way... Nice spot.
They were a group of beings created when their existences were split across the war, before the lock was created. As the battles were waged across time they found their histories changed. They may die but be resurrected through time travel, then may have never existed. When the war was time-locked, It kept them alive no matter how their existence changed. Some were brought back to consciousness as echos of their old lives appeared as the Time Lords attempted to salvage the things that used to be. Soldiers were created and would vanish as the history changed, the battle fields became unpredictable as ships would come in and out of the time vortex, where the battle raged on for eternity. They fell to madness because they were robbed of their identity. What is a being without their personal history, that isn't even capable of dying?
Shit I never thought of it this way actually, that could be potentially lethal, a being who escaped from the Time War

I miss this show and pre 12 Doctor Who some episodes were not great but I never stopped believing in these shows. Both of them are in my top 5 shows of all time

While not exactly the same, there's technically already a series 5 and 6 though they're big finish audio plays - aliens among us and god among us

@@saffronia2992 It just doesn't feel like Torchwood anymore, it was too much americanised. It was medium for me (disappointing but king of good, so kind of bad compared to other seasons)
