Humm, the Wilson Combat comes with cordura. Hi end!, Staccato (STI) comes with cordura, Medium end, Night Hawk comes with Cordura, High end. Atlas comes with cordura, VeryHigh end, Odd thing, the Wilson Combat comes with a very- nice cordura carry bag, and charges 49 bucks for it for an extra. ST(/Staccato has a so/so bag of cordure but charges 79 bucks for a spare. WTF?
The “this is kinda boring” really hit home with me haha. I used to carry a Shadow Systems and after like 5000 rounds of very flat very smooth shots I eventually got bored and had to turn up the heat on it, adding a lot more money into it to turn into a race gun for competition stuff. I bought a platypus for my wife as an anniversary gift and it’s not due to be done until early next year, I’m little excited to see what it can do.
excellent video, maybe even the best one ive seen about the Platy. I want a all metal "heavy" competition adjacent pistol. I am torn between a Canik Rival-S decked out and keeping more $$, or spending double on one of these guys with a economy red dot like a justice 2. I really think saving for one of these is the right call. Sticker shock is a real thing, though. I feel like im coming at it from the opposite of most of the people looking at these as a "value" gun vs Staccatos, and Buls.
They have recently made price changes in the paint department. Armorer black is the default included color. Any change or additional colors starts at 75.00 and goes up depending on the color, I think white is the most expensive at 200. Inlays and backfills range from 5 to 15 each. If you have seen any of the five color My Little pony rainbow princess monstrosities that people have ordered you will understand why they increased the paint prices!
This is already their "1st gen" pistol. The new ones can be made with new grips and a bull barrel. If you're pinching your hand with the safety, just let the company know and order a single side safety.
Stacatto comes in the same bag. That *is* the "nice gun" presentation. Though I prefer the Canik presentation which is a *really* nice box. The S&W boxes are garbage.
Yeah, I will say the carry bag is much more useful tho, especially for competition guns, it acts as your pistol rug, the box stays in a closet. But maybe they could give us both or a choice 🤷
I got the new grip design with bull barrel, if it had an integrated comp on it, it would 100 percent compare to a staccato xc and is better than the P in every way. Shot it with XC and atlas, they are better yes, but not thousands of dollars of noticeable difference better. If are not competing professionally, and you don't need that .02 percent difference, save your money buy a Platypus. He is not lying the gun is so good I too also barely shoot mine; it doesn't feel like training, it feels like a cheap trick.
I also love the idea of using a cheap 27-round magpul 'stendo on a fast/accurate gun. It's like having a PDW rather than a mere pistol. I'm thinking about getting a holster for it to run on my chest rig.
Complaining about it being to easy to shoot dime size groups means maybe just practice on more distant targets. Maybe even far enough that you need to learn the drops at longer range... Just saying
Does anybody know if this fits in the safari land staccato xc holster with light and optic, I can not find any reliable info on this, it should but I can’t find anyone to confirm it
You mentioned a “rail adapter thing” that moves the light down a half inch and there is a rail click in. Can you give me more to go on… Name, company, etc… something…
I want one kinda but man i hate that fuckin name for a 1911 xD Regardless of name preferences, they make such sweet lookin 1911s. Im probably gonna buy a p99 for a daily carry tho soon
I'm really surprised they haven't started pumping out all black ones with a different name; only because i recently found out some agencies are allowing it to be used.
I’m very titled towards getting a staccato c or a p for my next gun.. so much so that I’ve already talked it over with my wife. But, before any big purchase I try to do research on it for atleast a month or two to find all the good and the bad. With that being said… the price of the platy is obviously better .. but! I really want to know .. is the platypus just as good as the staccato .. or is there a difference? I’m the type of person who will edc it and shoot atleast 10k rounds in a year. But I want an honest opinion from someone who owns both. And also… how good is the warranty on a platypus and how well do they honor that warranty.
Nighthawk, atlas, STI, literally everyone ships them in cordura…

I actually like the cloth pistol bags over the plastic ones. They travel better and are usually better designed.
There are no mim parts on the platy, everything is machined.
That's more points in it's column for me!
I was just about to say this!
I feel like most of the negative points he made didn’t make sense.
@@markdunlap9960 ambi safety bites my hand, too big for commercial holsters...what doesn't make sense?
I hope that the safety goes up to engage the tool not down so it is out of the way.@@iamnitrox

Spent 1300 on an Ed Brown that came in a cardboard box...The bag is a big step up
i like the soft bag it travels better , i lost my green fiber optic tube before a 1000 rds
I love this video! This is probably the route I should have taken with mine! I just got mine on the 11th. Great video. Just sub’d. Thanks for sharing.

It's definitely high end IMHO. It's worth the money. I've never met anyone who shot it that wasn't blown away
@@iamnitrox No, it isn't hi end. Not by a long shot!
@michaell397 there's always one, lol.

Man, that bums me out. I'll make a note on there
I have 2 Platty’s and they’re both great shooters & no sir no MIM parts. Over 2000 rounds between the both and not one failure 🤙🏽

Great job articulating why someone might want this over a 1911 or the more common 2011's out there.
Pretty sure glock makes the fun stick at 33 rounds .
@@charles17508 I have yet to try one, but I'd like to do a full mag dump of one to see how hot the slide gets
31 actually but most of them come with a plus two extension and honestly the 33 rounders are definitely more common.
