I think the product is better as a second step to your skin care routine. Like use your normal cleanser then use this product to take off anything that is left behind.

I always know that I can put 100% faith in your reviews. The reasons for this include 1. I know you are knowledgable about cosmetics and you're thorough in your examinations of each product and 2. I know you're 100% honest and not bought out by companies. I've seen so many gurus advertising this product claiming it was some kind of instant makeup removal godsend (cough cough Ingrid) and I almost purchased it for that purpose, UNTIL of course I read the fine print where it showed that the video was sponsored. Thank you for continuing to be such a reliable source for reviews, I really appreciate that you care to educate us honestly about each product so we can spend our money wisely rather than spew us ads so we waste money to ensure that you gain it. Thank you so much Emily!

I have been using the Simple Micellar (spelling?) water for about a month now, it's VERY similar to the Sephora brand and Koh Gen D cleansing water that I've used for yearssss to remove my makeup at night (with the same exact large oval cotton pads you referred to) and they do a really good job of removing all my makeup. I saturate the cotton pad, fold it over and squeeze the product through so both sides are wet. I use the exfoliating side to remove my face makeup and the back/smooth side to do my eyes, I fold it in half and hold the pad on each eye for about 30 seconds and it really gets everything off. Then I go on and cleanse my face (or exfoliate/do a mask, I rotate every night between basic cleanser, exfoliater and mask). I'm very impressed with the Simple brand, and I'm very pleased to have found a cheaper alternative! But like you said, skin care is so personal! I could NEVER just use a cleansing water to clean my face in the morning, I would be breaking out SO bad within a few days!!

I used the blue Bioderma for months and it was better at make-up removal, but you're so right about the hydration with this one! I purchased it to clear up an eye-area infection and it did that like a dream, but I still love it for getting that last bit of grime off after cleaning. I love how gentle it is!

I bought this on a whim after hearing Ingrid talk about it, and I really like it. I use it after using a makeup towelette to get rid of any cosmetics left behind, and I found that it works pretty well like that.
    Thanks for the review! xx

I have to agree. This does not remove makeup well at all but it's great on bare skin. I love to use it to cleanse my skin at night if I've just been at home all day with no makeup on. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean but not dry at all.

I use micellar water in the morning and after I cleanse my face with the oil or gel in the evening. I haven't tried this one but I really like Bioderma and Garnier micellar water. Definitely will pick this one up once out :)

I use this on Saturday or Sunday morning when I need a quick cleansing. I also like it on a Qtip or a cotton pad to clean fall out before applying foundstion. Or, just to refresh mid day if I don't have any makeup on. Another thing I LOVE this for is for a light hydration / cleansing after really cleansing or before applying makeup. Don't waste $$ on. Bioderma, this is cheap & just as good!

I always remove my makeup with a makeup wipe at night. I prefer to then go to the sink and use a traditional cleanser to really clean my skin. On nights when I'm too tired to bother with that I would use astringent (and still do occasionally) but I do like this product in place of that. It gets rid of the makeup that makeup wipes leave but doesn't dry your skin out like some astringents and toners can.

I totally agree with everything you said Emily. No with a full face of makeup but it is what I have also using in the morning. I also use it after I use a cleansing oil or balm. After those products, I always feel like there is residue on my eyes and I use this after and the residue is gone. Thanks for sharing!

This Micellar water is sooooo great!! It gets off your foundation and lip products very well as a makeup remover, but of course you'll definitely need to wash your face with a cleanser afterwards to get that DEEP and thorough clean. As for waterproof eye makeup, no. This does not get it all off.

I don't wash my face in the morning, I just use a warm washcloth before my morning skincare, so this might be a good thing for me to try. I have dry, aging skin, so this stuff might be more hydrating than just a washcloth. Thanks for the review!~Carla

I use Simple, Bioderma & the Sephora Micellar water and I use 3 large cotton rounds to remove my full face and eye makeup..this one from simple isn't my favorite but it works for me beautifully. I hold it to my eye like I would any remover products..my skin feels so hydrated when I use Micellar waters though..Vichy sells one as well.

I've been using this for almost 2 weeks now and I just use the Simple Micellar water to remove my eye makeup in the evening - I use one of those oval cotton pads that you mentioned for each eye - it takes the eye makeup off wonderfully! And then I use my regular facial cleanser to wash my face makeup off.

I remove my makeup with coconut oil (in the bathroom), wash my face with an SLS free face wash. After patting dry, I use the Simple Micellar Cleansing water to remove any residue makeup on my face and eyes. I also use it as a face cleanser and I love it because it does a fantastic job without irritating my eyes or skin. I would definitely recommend the Simple Micellar Cleansing water for anyone who has sensitive skin like me. Although, I have two different botle designs of the same product, my bottles are different from the one that you have here. This is the best face cleanser I have tried tbh...

I use the Simple Micellar Water at night. First I put it on a cotton round then let it sit on my eyes for about 15- 20 seconds and wipe off my eye makeup. I use probably three cotton small cotton rounds each night. I do follow up after with a wet cleansing wipe, then a toner. My skin is clean when I am done. I don't use water on my face at night when I cleanse or it will wake me up. I use a cleansing water pretty much every night. Boots No7 has a good one and so does Sephora - Triple Action Cleansing Water. I have done like you and use it in the morning. It leaves your skin feeling fresh, smooth and ready for serums or moisturizers. I am sold on cleansing waters. Take care and have a great day Emily!!!

A few years ago I realized I didn't have to wash my face with water and cleansers. If I'm wearing makeup, I first use a makeup remover cloth, then I use Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel. I use only the witch hazel if I'm not wearing makeup. My skin looks great, probably better than when I was washing it every night in the sink.
I added Simple Micellar water to my routine about a month ago, and use it before the witch hazel. It's wonderful and leaves my skin feeling so refreshed! Witch hazel is incredible for your skin, by the way. It soothes the skin, reduces puffiness around the eyes, reduces redness, and it's a mild astringent. Thayers Rose witch hazel is the best. It doesn't contain alcohol and it smells divine.

I use this instead of washing my face with a normal cleanser and it works wonders for me! I am VERY acne prone and my skin is almost completely clear. Instead of using it to take your makeup off, it's really more to cleanse. I use coconut oil to take my make up off and then this cleanses.

I have been using vasoline to remove my eye makeup since grade school. Takes off even waterproof mascara and hydrates and moisturizes your eyes at the same time. You Don't need an expensive makeup remover. And to clean my face,I use a moisturizing soap to remove the rest of my makeup. Simple and inexpensive.

uglybaddoll I too have been removing my eye makeup with Vaseline since high school after seeing a friend and her mother doing so. And her mother had no wrinkles around the eyes and she always swore by the Vaseline! I have tried many things and just always go back to Vaseline! It removes every last bit of makeup and doesn't tug on my delicate under eye area! And I normally have very dry under eyes so this also helps with moisture. This is one of my beauty secrets I swear by!

I just use a makeup wipe to remove it and it literally takes off even the most stubborn eye makeup. I understand this isn't for everyone, I see the yuck comment above, but honestly it works for me I swear by this. And if the thought of this all the time isn't for you every day, I at least recommend this for super stubborn eye makeup like mascaras that don't budge. It really removes everything.

I agree with everything you said for this type of product. This sound like it works just like Bioderma, which I've used for years. I tend to use it in the morning for any eye makeup residue left behind. I like that it doesn't irritate or leave behind a film. Thanks for the review! I've been using Bioderma for over a year, and I absolutely love it, both for taking off all of my makeup (including my Kat Von D tattoo liner) and for just general quick cleansing. I was debating on trying the Simple one once my bottle runs out, as Bioderma isn't cheap, but after your review, I think I will stick with my Bioderma. I completely trust your opinion, so thanks so much for more great information!!! Xoxo

I have combo/very oily skin. I love this product because I can use it as a follow up to my Clarisonic (luxe brush- so least amount of irritation) with some good cleanser. I use as toner basically and it works awesome like this- it removes any final traces of make up and feels very hydrating as you say. Which- if you have oily skin is a great because witch hazel, alcohols etc are extremely drying and irritate and inflame the skin. Also this product is great for a swipe on a day where I might not be wearing make up but desire to refresh my face without doing a whole washing routine and adding moisturizer/sunscreen on top of that. Doesn't dry my skin, leaves it refreshed.

Totes agree! I wanted to compare this to the Garnier micellar water - that one actually gets all my makeup off and is actually cheaper. Here it's $12 for 400ml, and the simple one is $10 for 200ml (I live in new zealand), so I've started using the simple one in the morning. But totes give the garnier one a go if you haven't xox

So interested to see your review. I too wasn't super sure what to do with this product. I've found that I like to use it best before going to bed -- I'll wash off all my makeup when I get home from work, then when I go to bed a few hours later, I use this to refresh my face without doing a whole second wash with cleanser. Or like you, I'll do it on a weekend morning when I wake up and I'm just going to be bumming around the house and want a fresh face. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes it but thinks it's not the greatest at makeup removal. :)

I use Bioderma, but not as a removal agent. With a full face of make-up I use Clinique's Take the Day Off Balm - twice. I may use a moist cleansing towelette to start removal but always end up with a balm to thoroughly cleanse. I will use the Bioderma as final cleansing agent for eyes, even though I've used eye make up remover... but on its own, it's not enough for me. Neither is a cleansing towelette (moist) so I always use a multitude of products for removal and cleansing, which I look at as 2 different steps.
Thanks for the video review. Very good and informative.

I love this product! I use it at night just to take off my eye makeup…which is VERY minimal, some days it's just mascara, but I think it works great for that. Probably not for waterproof eyeliner or something like that. I also use it for mistakes…I seem to always get mascara on my eyelids. I'll take a Qtip and get a little of this stuff on the tip and it easily takes off my mistake without ruining everything else.

Yup, I agree with using micellar water as a quickie cleanse in the morning, but I also use it as a second step to follow through with whenever I use cleansing oil to remove makeup -- that duo gets everything off! Sometimes I also only wear eyeliner & concealer on spots --> micellar water for that.

I also use the Equate Makeup Remover Towelettes and I'm very happy with them, but the last package I bought was very dry so what I do is to put some drops of the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water in the sheets. This have improved the function of the towelettes A LOT since I can notice how much more makeup comes off in comparison to the regular wet towelettes.
I don't like to use this micellar water by itself because I feel I need too much to remove my whole makeup but I love to combine it with the towelettes :)

I use this to remove my makeup and have no problems with it. I am in love with it actually! I use the smaller pads, soak them pretty well, hold them on my eyes and the makeup just comes right off with one swipe. I then flip the pad over and remove the rest of my makeup. I haven't felt the need for a toner. I did use the toner at first but I wasn't getting anything off with it so I stopped.

I remember hearing a tip from Wayne Goss (I think it was him) about using cleansing water to quickly fix any makeup mistakes since you can apply makeup directly on top without the oily residue you get from traditional makeup removers. I use the Vichy cleansing water to fix botched winged eyeliner, and it works like a charm! Also great to have on hand if you're swatching products.

You are informative and honest and I never feel like I'm being sold something, which sometimes I get the impression other youtubers are doing. Anyways I see in the info box that you have some Colour Pop blushes and lip products. I was wondering if you could do some reviews on products. Especially the eyeshadow (if you have them) but I would love to hear about the blushes as well. Thanks for the great review as always.

Thanks for your review. I've been curious about it for ages, but I think I will skip this product. I use Dickinson's sensitive skin witch hazel in the mornings when I am not using prescription acne creams instead of washing my face. It seems to do a better job than washing my face and it's more gentle than even my gentle cleanser. I also use it as a midday refresh in the hot weather when I can't be bothered to wear any face makeup.

Great idea to use in the morning so I'll definitely try that. I wasn't impressed using it to remove makeup and was about to pass it along but I'm glad to try and make it work.

I use the Kirkland makeup remover cloths then follow up with this and it is so clean. I love this product!

Use it to spot clean your eye brushes between deep cleaning. I put some in a spray bottle and use exfoliating pads to swirl it on. For dark colors you may have to do it a couple times, but using a sprayer you use less. For my face, I prefer the Boots Botanics that you can get at target.

I started using this as a makeup remover around two weeks ago and it gets everything off, even the they'real mascara, stila and kat von d liquid liners too! So surprised it did not work for you! Buy I always need to wash my face with my cetaphil cleanser.

Washing with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser will take off my eye makeup and clean my face. I like the Hydrating Cleanser too, but I don't know how thorough it is with full coverage foundation. I keep both on hand for my combination skin. I have not been wearing full coverage foundation, but tinted moisturizer and powder foundation.

This was my experience too. I used half a bottle in about a week using it at night before I decided using it in the morning was best. It seems like a pretty good product.

I like using this for a speedy face wash in the morning (on a cotton pad), to take off thick lipstick, and to remove the bulk of my eye makeup before I go in with my cleansing balm or oil. Micellar waters appeal to me because you can use them all over the face for whatever, as opposed to a standard eye makeup remover.

Love this stuff! Been using this about a month or two and I've since bought several more products from the Simple skin care line.
I tried that once with a full face makeup too. Took forever to get off. Now I just use the Simple face wash and then go behind it with this. I also use this in the morning. My skin has been really healthy looking and it's helped even out my skin tone.
Definitely will be repurchasing this very soon. :)

I also use it after makeup wipes to get off any residue before I go in with my Clarisonic. Also, now that it's allergy season, I'll use it to give my face a wipe down when I'm
Not wearing makeup but have gone outside. It's also good to clean up makeup mistakes or to blot makeup transfer stains.

I was using the Caudalie makeup remover cleansing water, but found I was going through it too quickly for the price ($14 for 3.38oz) and I didn't care for the scent. I decided to give the Simple one a try ($6.99 for 6.7 oz). I use both the same way. I first take off my eyeliner with the Koh Gen Doh cleansing water, then I put the Simple micellar water on a cotton pad and wipe over my entire face. Then I wash my face with Cera Ve cleanser. I think the Simple water is a perfectly fine replacement for the Caudalie, and both work well as a pre-cleansing step. However, if I were trying to use it alone as a makeup remover, it wouldn't do the trick.

Interesting.... Not sure this is for me. I'm so glad I watched this because I almost bought some to try it but now that I know how it works best I think I'll skip it. I have to get my face wet in the AM. I looked tired if I don't. Thanks so much Emily. Very thorough as always. Xo Linda

I really suggest checking out the Bioderma Micellar water; it's the one I use. Not only does it remove waterproof makeup super easily, but it leaves your face feeling fantastic! Vichy and Garnier also make some pretty nice ones in my opinion (:

Totally agree with you, Emily. I use it after I use a makeup removing wipe to get what's left and I really like it for that. Saw you have some Colour Pop items! Are you going to do a review? 😁

Emily, have you tried the original and best Bioderma? So many brands have tried to copy this, but none have even come close. It actually removes your makeup like a dream. Makeup artists use it and it is so gentle on even your eyes. Here in Australia Bioderma is sold in our chain drugstore Priceline and I feel very lucky that it is so available to us. I wonder why it isn't so readily available in the USA.
