      It’s like with a lot of games like this, it makes you hate the game but it also makes you hate the enemies more so you want to heccing murder them, tear their guts out, pull out their bones, basically just brutalize them in the worst ways ever devised by mankind

    • @Kanakravaatti
      @Kanakravaatti 6 лет назад +29

      Yeah HM2 is more polished but the level design is noticeably worse. Majority of the times you get killed is from across the map, out of your field of vision, through the glass windows by the last enemy on the stage. And if you thought Casualties was annoying try beating it on hard mode. On the first time of course. After about 100 hours combined on the games and 100% completing them it gets that much easier.

    • @itsflyde
      @itsflyde 6 лет назад +9

      Kanakravaatti i think that’s arguable, a lot of the “worse” level design is done to an effect in my opinion but also i’m really biased because i adore these games. Also the one mission as Pardo where you have to kill the Colombians is fucking annoying

      @@Kanakravaatti Despite your comment being 3 years old, ima respond to it and say your wrong, the level design is pretty good, the difference is that it's now an even playing field. It doesn't feel good does it? I love these games and love the challenge they bring. Just because something is harder just because it's now even doesn't mean it's a terrible design. The creators made the game with the idea of that not every game has to be fun to be good, and they nailed it since is it a fun game, yeah... but because it's a good game. If you can't adapt it not gonna be fun.
      Currently have over 300 hours combined, 70 in the first and a bit over 230 at the moment. Love the game and the lore.
      It just that the game is now fair on both sides (they can see farther and react faster, hard mode amps up the reaction time), not the level design despite it now being made for you to improvise and use more things than just melee.

    This game is difficult but for some reason is not really that frustrating when you lose, it only makes you furrow your brow and rethink your strategy, you almost never feel like the enemies are too powerful. And I think I know exactly why.
    Loading screens. (or lack of them).
    I could write a 7 page essay on why loading screens are a terrible way to punish the player and can make a game feel like it's working against you, even if unintentionally, but no one is ready to hear it because they played dark souls 2 on an external hard disk on the Xbox 360 and have Stockholm syndrome for the fog walls.

      The reason I'm so much more willing to hop onto my SNES and play some 16-bit games for an hour or two compared to my other consoles is because cartridges still have great load times (virtually no loading screens for side-scrollers).
      Loading screens have evolved but they are still around and extremely frustrating for difficult games, i.e. every souls game basically. It's good Hotline Miami is so well optimized and has no loading screens because for such a frustrating game it still feels fast-paced even if you've died on the same level 80 times in a row.

      I did, it's really not much harder than the other versions of the game. In fact it's technically easier on the switch because you can slam the joy cons to finish off enemies quicker if you're pretty slow at mashing b.

      @mint5438 4 года назад

      @@JacobKinsley in the time I've made the comment, I've played the PC version and still stand by my statement. Definitely isn't harder, just more annoying. It was on the switch lite so that definitely didn't help anything either.
