Spooky, I’ve spent all day researching qo100 to and then this comes along! Definitely I would like a full set up video. I already have a fully functioning qo100 NB SSB set up.

You can buy a complete kit for the Minitioner S from REF, the French national amateur radio society. The BATC have two more designs that use the Minitiouner hardware for reception, the Portsdown and the Ryde projects. Portsdown also has transmission and test equipment functions.

You've done brilliantly building it. I've been using the MiniTiouner express for a few years but lowest symbol rate I get is 125 never 66 or 33. Certain Linux satellites receivers will work down to 250 like the Octogon SF 8008 but I have to use an old adx frequency extender to shift the frequency up 10.491 becomes 10.991 Ghz. You can see a recent example on my channel. Most sat boxes will only accept 1000 for symbol rates
I get up to 20 ksr with no problem.

If just receiving next stage is to build the Ryde receiver using old sat set top box to put all the circuity in it. Can use repurposed remote control to change channel or scan for a signal. Just need the tuner and a Rpi.
I´m using the minitiouner, too - together with longmynd on RaspberryPi + longmynd client on PC , to watch the "stream" via LAN - funny to see my transmission @5:58 . Thanks for sharing - vy37 - DM4DS - Sandor

Nice video, as a tip for an alternative to minitioune program and like HORUS described, there is Ryder project from BATC (will be like a standalone receiver with HDMI out + remote control). You will need an RPI4, but with a small mod, you can also be able to use the longmynd client program for PC from ZR6TG.
I use a variety of Minitouners here. There's a V2 built into a Ryde set top box. A standalone v2 boxed like you have it is on hand to work with a PC or a Portsdown 2019 DATV unit. Both the newer Portsdown DATV units have a Minitiouner built in as the receiver and the software uses Heather M0HMO's amazing Long Mynd digital ATV receiver software. There's a very nice beacon signal strength meter in Portsdown to help with peaking the dish. In this part of the hobby BATC membership is an essential part of the toolbox. 73 de M0YDH

It would be good if you demonstrated the QO-100 Live Tune software by Rob M0DTS, Matt. It's on the BATC Wiki via search. The program runs between Minitioune or Ryde and the spectrum display. Click on a signal and the receiver tunes to it. Really nice.

A decent enigma2 satellite receiver should be able to pick up these signals and even the low Symbol Rates but obvisouly you won''t have the software support or spectrum function.
It has been tried and it is not good at low symbol rates. A Minitiouner is really the best option for the low symbol rates that amateurs use. There are several software options as detailed on the BATC wiki.
If you can find an Enigma2 receiver and Tuner that works to select between adjacent 333kS signals, the BATC would be keen to know. So far, no commercial receivers have been shown to do this.
@@davidcrump1442 I have been able to receive sr 300 or sr 350 signals used for dutch radio stations to feed their transmitters/cable headends int he past. Those signals were on 16 east. I used dreamboxes (dm8000) and that worked fine. I think i also tried a zgemma box once and that worked too. At the moment i'm using a VU+ box but have not tried that yet. I think it all depends on the correct frequency.

Interesting. I need to look into this. First thing to know is if this is useful in the USA as this particular satellite likely isn't visible in the sky on my side of the earth.

So, basically and in order to see DATV from QO-100 or we buy this MiniTioner V2.0 from BATC or we by the eTiouner from ELAD , there nothing else on the market, is this correct ?
Is there a difference in using this vs an sdr with the appropriate software?
It can be done through software like SDR Angel, but it can be fiddly to get the settings correct for a nice solid demod.

Kind of a bummer that the tuner module used on the MiniTiouner board is a custom version made to BATC's spec. Kind of limits the availability. Also a bummer that this sat can't be seen in the US... I was getting really excited for a moment there!

Not a BATC Custom tuner. It is a standard Serit design that was found to be suitable by F6DZP. It was only available in quantities of 100+ so BATC purchased batches for resale to members. Sadly now discontinued by Serit, although BATC and the French REF have some remaining stocks.
@@davidcrump1442 OK, maybe not explicitly custom, but the BATC wiki says they asked Serit to add an LNA to an existing model, creating the 'L' suffix to the part number. That plus "sadly now discontinued" make it fit the custom category in my head ;)
Here in the USA we are not able to pick up this satellite. Do you know if there will be a geosync ham radio satellite in the future for the North America?
I really hope that happens because the chances are that us in the UK will be within the footprint, if its high enough! Maybe someone can talk to ARRL? Of if you have a organisation that deals directly with Amateur Television.

Using your Minitiouner with a Ryde is the way to go, and when you start TXing the Winter Hill is just fantastic, especially with Quick-tune. It has taken me a while to get active via QO-100 but the DATV bunch are really friendly and always willing to help. You can always PM me on the forum if I can answer any questions. 73 M5TXJ
