Did you expect it to get this clean?

Great video! I typically do this every year, in the beginning of summer, to clean out all the winter dirt and dust from storage, and to blast out all the dirt and debris from the cooling fins and the bottom tray. I can do it in about an hour now. It helps so much to make the A/C blow cooler, and run more efficiently. Also the mixture kills the mold.

I usually do this once a year because inevitably the ac doesn't cool the room anymore. It gets humid and miserable until I force myself to drag it outside and clean it. My unit is 12,000 btu so it's heavy and I'm a girl, so not looking forward to it. It's August in Texas so y'all can imagine how bad I need ac. My only concern is mixing Dawn and bleach: it produces ammonia gas and is dangerous. I do the dawn first, rinse it off with water, then spray bleach + water on there with a cheap $1 store spray bottle. It only takes a few minutes for the bleach to do the job. Thanks for posting this video. I needed reminding that I don't need to buy a new ac.

I was not aware that mixing dish soap and bleach creates a toxic gas. My family has been doing it for years. I'll make sure they know

Your video was encouraging for me, I have to clean out my small window unit and I was afraid to do it myself. You make it look easy 😃

You can turn it on to fan only just to let it dry out

that’s why you let it dry afterwards

Yes as long as it dries up completely before plugging in. It should turn on. Even if a little wet it should turn on. But that's on your own risk.

It becomes more of a problem if the electronics is left in water for a long time. Flooding the motherboards and such can cause problems if left flooded.
