i think mastermind is about fans too bcz she is a mastermind she know what she wanted and she achieved it and still has the passion and fire after being 18 years in this industry
maroon is such a great song. the way the love and loss story was told, associating every detail with a specific shade of red. one of her best works
I think the "blood-soaked gown" lyric is a metaphor for the death of Taylor's innocence. For so long, she felt like she could depend on others to help her through life (her manager, her record label, her friends, her lovers etc.) but she slowly realised that everyone would always choose their own interests over hers and that she could only truly rely on herself.
It parallels the way Carrie's belief in the kindness of her classmates is shattered when their true intentions are revealed.

I love Midnights. It’s so slept on bc it came after folklore/evermore, but it’s beautiful writing with chill vibes. Taylor is the queen of sad bops and it gives such mixed feelings lol and petty, sassy Taylor is always a joy

For me, the "look around in a blood soaked gown" is about being stabbed in the back by her former record label and Scooter over her masters. It is why she realizes there is "something they can't take away". For whatever reason, I see her in a big dress after a Caesar-style stabbing. Then again, maybe I am overthinking.
I don't usually write comments on RUclips, but I really want to thank you for all of this honest and positive feedback. It's great to see someone who pays attention to all of these details and truly listens. Nowadays, it's full of people who do reactions without paying much attention and just trying to say the things that fans want to hear.

FINALLY
The album hurts a lot more after TTPD. This album was a coping mechanism like folklore and evermore. She used past relationships to mask what was happening with Joe. The album was finished around April 2022, she used this to leave him but between then and the albums release in October they got back together and then they broke up for the last time around February/March of 2023 befors the tour. You will see the true sadness of these songs when you hear TTPD 😢
