I love how when it explodes, Dan just sits there for a moment in shock, where as Gavin just immediately gets up to the camera.
In case you don’t know, the Phantoms only keep a few real time seconds worth of footage so as not to waste literal petabytes of space if the Phantom ends up recording for hours on end until it’s triggered. Hope that made sense

From what I remember from a podcast explanation, the phantom camera he uses has the ability to record a certain amount of seconds (let's say 4, for the sake of it, I think it's more.) after hitting the button, that same amount before, or an exact hybrid (2 before, 2 after.)

Honestly, one of the coolest things about this is watching how quick the human body reacts to protect the important parts. You will notice on the slow-mo part that, even though the watermelon is completely gone before they can even move their hands, their eyes blink shut before a single drop reaches the face. Wild.

***** Office Depot, 3" x 1/8", air quality was wet and damp, bone structure varied from grown man about 6' tall to middle aged man about 5'8. I did not drug them while putting the bands on but to get them tied up and stabilized I did use a special concoction of drugs. They were very much alive before band 685.

What would happen if the rubber bands were each in a different position, to recreate the sphererical shape of the water melon. That would give the melon equal pressure on all directions wouldn't it?
Would the Watermelon still 'explode' if there if all possible sides where covered with rubber bands?
Two possible results, the equal pressure on every side would either balance itself out so that nothing happened, or it would simply implode.
***** But there would be no where for the melon to go if it imploded, so I think equal force from all directions would keep the melon intact until the rubber bands snapped.
tskwared667 Actually, because of how watermelon is, there would be enough air-space on the inside for it to implode, and once that happened, the rubber bands would probably collapse, as they're all based around the melon. All it needs is a little bit of structure to fail in the watermelon.

No it's because when using a slow mo device it takes up a lot of space so they have to just run to the camera to stop the recording so that it wont take so much space and plus not that much editing

The camera basically always records, however the footage is only stored in RAM and is overwritten on a running basis. They have to hit the "save" button to tell the camera to stop recording and stop overwriting the footage.
