@@arianetang2474oh I think I know what you mean. Those 3 stitches are 3 cast offs. So you cast of the stitches and then you have this one stitch left were you put over the 8th ( I believe) stitch. And in edition to that you have to knit the ,,normal knits" meaning that the one stitch that you still have after the last cast off does not count as a knit. So when you for example have to knit 86 stitches you actually have to have 87 before you start with the next cast off. And because you have to cast off 3 times there are 3 ,,extra" stitches. Hi Maria, congratulations on your achievement! Am inspired to try after viewing the video. I'm a new knitter. Noticed that instructions on co 8 st, k 86, co 8 st....totals up to 187 stitches. Could you please share what did you do with the 3 extra stitches? Thank you.
Hi! I made this vest just as you instructed, and it turn out beautiful!! Thank you so much for the tutorial! I was wondering if someone knows how to calculate the measurements to knit a bigger size. Does someone know how to calculate the proportions of armholes and neck if I cast on 210 stitches?
You calculate the size based on your Guage. If you know your Guage, you know how many stitches/rows are in an inch, then you calculate how many additional stitches/rows you need to increase the size, from the original pattern.
In the sense of making it bigger around the waist and such I've just added more stitches in the start, but an amount that can be divided by 3, so fx I've made mine 220 stitches instead of 190 (so added 30) because when you then need to make the arm holes and such you just add 10 to each interval (so original pattern says cast off 8, k 86, cast off 8, k 38 etc. And I do cast off 8, k 96, cast off 8, k 48 etc.) Also I don't know why but it seems like theres gonna be 3 stitches left in the original pattern idk why that is. I'll update when I figure that out. Otherwise please do tell 😊 Update: I looked closely to the pattern and it seems that when casting off stitches you "lose" one stitch in the beginning so if you need the arm holes bigger (and follow my pattern instructions) you again just add fx 1 to arm and neck holes and then 9 in the in-between spaces. Or whatever just adds up in the end.
How did you sew the left straps together? I am trying so hard to figure it out but I can't seem to get it. I've been stuck with that for a good two weeks now. If anyone knows please help! Thank you!! Love your videos btw.
May I ask one question, what size of this vest? Thank you for making this video, it looks easy to knit this vest, I would like to learn and knit a vest with this video.
Very well executed and easy to follow. Thank you! Oh, please make a tutorial for a cable vest. Thank you kindly for your time and expertise. You just gained a new subscriber😊
The start of the armhole and neckhole doesn't seem to add up (2:19) If I follow that pattern, then I get a split of 94/93 stitches instead of 95/95. Is anyone else having an issue here om am I just missing something?
Hi :) This is a lovely tutorial and I cannot wait to make it. I have 2 questions: a) In watching the video, when I add up the # of stitches that are cast off and knit for the armholes and neckhole, they only add up to 187, not the 190 cast on. Is that normal? What happens to the remaining 3? b) After gauge swatching and measuring myself, I've determined I need to cast on 200 stitches instead of 190 (5 stitches per inch) How do I adjust the # of stitches to cast off for the armholes and neckhole?
Well maybe you need to try divide into 3 part for the 3 remaining. I mean the pattern for front right and left side were knit 38 st, cast off 9 st, knit 38 st. I change into knit 39 st, cast off 10 st, knit 39 st. Maybe i'll try with mine. But i still don't know the result is 😅😅😅
Hi, based on the final measurements I think it’s like an S/M size. To make it bigger you need to calculate from gauge and your own measurements. For example, if your waist is 100 cm: [(100 cm x 21 sts)/10 cm] = 210 sts. But this may be too tight so you can add 5 cm of positive ease. Thus you can try casting on 220 sts. I hope it helps. ^^
@@mrsabsence3660 hiii thank you so much for this but I was wondering when I reach the neck and armhole shaping how many stitches am I supposed to Cas off and knit? She said to cast off 8st so how many sts am I supposed to cast off? Thank you again!

@@handmadebyaura64 unrelated but i saw a problem with the first step in the arm- and neckhole, i did the calculations and its 3 stitches more than 190, was there something i missed?
Yes! I'm having the same issue. After you cast off 8 st, you should knit the other ones, without counting the one stitch that's already on your needle, right? I will be trying to unmake that whole round but I'm afraid I will ruin it!!
@@todoplateado I've just ended up decreasing those 3 stitches, i checked the video and it doesnt seem to bring up anything about 187 or 190 so i think just decreasing will be ok to do
@@arianetang2474 right?? i've seen a couple of people having the same problem but still no answer... while others have no problem at all, i don't know what to do to fix this
Using a smaller needle for the rib on the neckline and armholes makes the rib a tighter fabric. If you use the larger needles it will work, it will just be looser and might not look as "clean" or precise.
@@nadde4569 No problem! I also found that the headhole was a bit small for my rather large head, so using the larger needles might have helped to avoid this issue.
@@handmadebyaura64 Hi! Can I know the yarn size too? I think my yarn is a bit thicker so i was wondering if i should use different needles too. Thank you for the tutorial!
Hello, Ofuchi... I can answer your question. The stitch marker at the beginning is just so you know where the beginning of the round is, in case you need to actually count the stitches for a pattern you're doing. It's not to divide the 190 stitches, but used so you know the starting/ending point of the knitting. Hope this helps!
@@pepitoquilter Thank you so much, you definitely did! May I ask if the gauge is done in 4mm needles or 3? I'm thinking 4, but I'm new to knitting and not too sure.
The gauge is usually done with whatever size needle the main body will be knitted with - in this case, the larger size. The smaller size needle is just used for the ribbing and then you change it to the bigger needles for the rest of the vest.

Hey guys can you tell me what will happen if I use same size of needle, same count of stitches but with a smaller type of yarn??😁😁 thank you
I dont think anyone knows and i also dont think anyone has done it so mbe u should experient on it
Did anyone else see a problem with the first step in armhole and neckhole, if so how did you fix it?
Yes! I'm having the same issue. After you cast off 8 st, you should knit the other ones, without counting the one stitch that's already on your needle, right? I will be trying to unmake that whole round but I'm afraid I will ruin it!!
@@todoplateado I've just ended up decreasing those 3 stitches, i checked the video and it doesnt seem to bring up anything about 187 or 190 so i think just decreasing will be ok to do
@@arianetang2474 right?? i've seen a couple of people having the same problem but still no answer... while others have no problem at all, i don't know what to do to fix this
Beautiful vest 😍. Do you have a written copy of this pattern?
Thank you, Teresa. I do not have a written copy of this pattern.
@@handmadebyaura64 I wish you did. I am doing one based on your video.
Why subscribe???? Poor instructions and Extremely Disappointed .
Can I make this using 80cm needles?
Hey Gianna. Yes you can!
can this be a male wear?
Is this tutorial good for beginners or is it too hard? Also, is it fine if you change colors for the ribbing? (neckline, bottom hem, and arm hem)
Hey. If you know how to knit stitch, purl stitch, skpo, k2tog, you can do it.
@@handmadebyaura64 Thanks! Like I said, can I change color or will it look bad?
Will my project turn out bad if I don't switch my needles, whats the point of changing the needle size?
Using a smaller needle for the rib on the neckline and armholes makes the rib a tighter fabric. If you use the larger needles it will work, it will just be looser and might not look as "clean" or precise.
@@mirandab7806 thank you!!
@@nadde4569 No problem! I also found that the headhole was a bit small for my rather large head, so using the larger needles might have helped to avoid this issue.
Brilliant 👌
Thank you so much :)
Witch size plz?
Vest size? Yarn size?
@@handmadebyaura64 vest
@@handmadebyaura64 Hi! Can I know the yarn size too? I think my yarn is a bit thicker so i was wondering if i should use different needles too. Thank you for the tutorial!

in the beginning, did you place the stich marker to separate the front 95 stitches from the back 95 stiches?
@@pepitoquilter Tank you so much. And the gauge swatch will be done in stockinette as that's the main stitch for the body?
@@ofuchi yes, correct!
