Brittnee, love you because you're so down to earth, honest and funny to boot, lol. In my humble opinion, you're a great teacher. I'm near 70, retired and have not been to a beauty shop for years since I love to fool with my own hair and didn't like the few cuts I got back in the day. I also quit coloring a long time ago and don't mind the grey coming in. I use my small good sharp scissors, sometimes a razor comb and keep it on the shorter side. I do old school roller style it for some curl. When I was a kid, my grandma would take me with her sometimes to a beauty school downtown (Dayton, Ohio) and I loved it. I have no artistic talent whatsoever, though, so I never went to beauty school myself but was an excellent typist and made a living as a medical transcriber for 38 years. Those places were all so busy back then, I remember. My own mom was a platinum blonde and did her own bleaching at home; she'd buy the bleach from her beautician, who thought she did a very good job, then Mom would go see the next day for that beehive tease-and-spray type comb-out that lasted a week with plenty of hair spray back in the 60s. May God bless you and yours!

I just want to say as a hairdresser for almost 10 years from Australia, you are amazing!!!! I love your videos and saved me money watching your hair extension install and cut videos!!! I also agree 100% on the not having to spend $1000s on shears. I have spent $500 aud - $170 aud and by FAR I love the cheaper ones more!!! All you aspiring hairdressers listen to this woman, because she is a amazing teacher! She knows her craft and has a clear and concise way to explain the fundamental techniques. Much love and keep doing what your doing girl.

Thank you for these videos! I recently started cutting my own hair. I am not a cosmetology student, but I am considering it. Anyway… I recently had a baby and I lost a lot of hair after my hormones leveled out. Therefore, I have a ton of new growth in the front forehead area. I’m thinking of doing a bang to cover that, but I have a “cow lick” ( from East Tennessee) or whorl towards the front of my hair. 😬. Can you possibly show us how to manage that? And/or how to cut hair with a side part? Thank you!
You are awesome! You are so fun and relatable. I’m learning so much from you!

A 5.5” shear is my favorite too! I just can’t get used to a 7” shear. I love a razor too for certain hair types but texturizing shears I only use on crazy thick hair or if someone wants long layers but I need to get rid of the bulk at the bottom 💜💜💜
Clippers, ehhh I cut my boys hair but maaannn I don’t like doing a lot of men’s cuts because I didn’t learn a lot of barbering in cosmetology school!

When I was in Cosmo . school The instructor would drop the shears on the floor and just pick them back up and continue with what she was doing. Also, the owner would have the students water down that blue disinfectant until it looked like plain water . I didn't do that and she did not like that. .People would come in with lice and infections .

If you are in Cosmo. school just go cheap like she said because some students have sticky fingers. There was a student that received a beautiful pair of gold shears from her father that were stolen.
