You probably dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend these days :)
Year after year I still come back here to listen to this rendition of "Come Back To Bed" with that magnificent and poignant solo. It's been 18 years since it was recorded but the song never fails to hit me right in the feels. This song will be eternally etched in the deep of my heart.
Great video!! This is a part of american music history now. He is an outstanding songwriter (I think). I believe his success proves that to be true. Although, I realize this part of his career was to give him wiggle room to write the 'style' of music he's more comfortable writing... I really enjoy watching/listening to this era of John Mayer. I am very thankful for his music. Thank you for the upload.
One of my favorite live recordings of Mayer. I wish I'd been at this show! I saw him in July 2003 in Dallas, Texas. I was two months before this show, so it reminds me of that night. It was at a much larger venue, and it was outdoors...July in Dallas is an extremely hot month. The Counting Crows opened for John, so by the time he went on it was later in the evening. I got to sneak down to the third row where my best friend and his now wife had two seats. Somehow we crammed into those two seat without being caught. I have my suspicions that the security were more concerned about the 20,000 rabid teenage and twenty something girls about to rush the stage and eat John alive. One of the best concerts I've had the privilege to attend. We had to drive the 6 hour journey home after the show, but we were still in awe of what had occurred.
I've been to seven mayer shows. seen 6 more here on you tube (13 total) and this is the first one where ive seen him play his old stuff. and i know this was 2003 but i still wonder why he doesnt play them all that much
In referrence to the "best friend" question, ironically enough, the guy doing the interview, Paul Hester - drummer for Crowded House, took his own life less than two years after this interview. Maybe he needed a (better) best friend.
Did Mayer just say Jesus type of best friend, or jesus IS his best friend, then the interviewer looks at the camera like "could mayer be a Christian? " WOW!
I realize that this is a very old comment, but I'd like to put in my two cents: No, I don't think that John Mayer is a Christian. I'd say that John was probably being sarcastic/humorous. As +Logan Brown said, he said it in a fake Texas accent. It sounded like he was poking fun at people who say stuff like that. Also, even if he actually is a Christian, his actions don't really display it. I realize that he's since cleaned up his act - at least mostly - but for a long time he was not at all good role model. I'd give examples, but you probably know what I'm talking about (if you don't, you can look them up or ask). Besides, based on songs like "Belief" and "New Deep" (and others), I'd say that it's pretty clear that he's not religious.
Why the unnecessary awkward focusing in on whether or not John Mayer has a best friend ? Given the opportunity to interview such a very good artist as he , one would ask , state that quite obviously there are far, far more enlightened and far more background researched questions that this fool could've asked John Mayer about his career had he have bothered to do his homework , as it would seemingly be apparent that he hadn't. Artists such as John Mayer at the height of their careers are every day, every night on the road with responsibilities aside from their live performances to the crew, musicians, management etc. These people , it would be safe to say are likely, mostly ALL his friends. So it leads me to have to ask : What exactly , if anything was the interviewer inferring ? ... Nothing derogatory we hope . Because that of course would be downright insulting .
@Something Like Mayer yeah. I'm greatfull of your channel and I need to ask you (probably one of Mayers biggest fans). Do u find some Mayer songs "boring" or even just bad?
@Something Like Mayer what first caught my attention to Mayer was his guitar playing. This forced me to later on discover his music. I began listening to room for squares which I to a beginning had a ruff time listening to. I actually thought it was quite boring. Probably due to the non obvious melodies and the jazzy/pop open string guitar chords. I believe still to this day that John's music isn't the most catchy and that you need to listen to it to appreciate it. With that said I don't believe a song is bad just because it doesn't catch your attention emedietly. Today is John mayer one of my favourite songwriters. There is still songs I find a bit uninteresting, like , "not myself" and "split screen sadness" just talking from a musical perspective, not lyrical. But my favourite thing about Mayer is his ability to make every live concert unique. This has for exemapel to do with his ability to phrase his singing melodies different every time. Sometimes he even changes the melody a little. I'm a big Mayer fan and my favourite song is probably who says.
@Something Like Mayer I listen to almost everything. I try to be as opened minded as possible. But the music I've grown up listening to is what my father listened to, mostly soul/gospel and country, and classical aswell. Because I am from Sweden I have listened to a lot of Swedish pop aswell, which I would consider good music. Did you know that Sweden is the world's most successful exporter of chart music, in relation to GDP. Beatles and traditional jazz has of course also been a big part of what I have listened to. Like Oscar Peterson and Parker. I play music aswell, I have played piano and guitar since and early age.
Vintage John Mayer is such a blast. Love it. Love him.
Come Back To Bed was clearly the best performance during this concert, god damn that solo takes you everywhere!

I love this. "Come Back To Bed" is my favorite. Your music is healing for me and I genuinely thank you for that! Xo
55:53 to 56:25 One of my favorite live moments from him.
HOW HAS THIS NEVER COME UP IN MY SEARCH RESULTS.
This vid been hiding!!
I think the "Who's your best friend" question was really funny and John handled it quite well
I love watching his face when he plays guitar when he was younger
he don't have a best friend.... his guitar is his best friend i think
hell yeah, there is only good coming out of this relationship
The guitar is his wife xD
*Doesn't
What an absolutely pointless comment
@@bobsmith3291 don't be so sour, Bob. It was a light-hearted, harmless comment. You are what's wrong with the internet.
STILL one of his best live shows. I ripped this audio from this video YEARS ago lol.
I LOVE that sound after he says “some day I’ll fly”
The best !

Shreshth Saxena he’s having the most flexible thumb ever
jealous !! :(
His keyboardist in this reminds me of the dragonfly from the Rescuers.
What's evotv?
Did Mayer just say Jesus type of best friend, or jesus IS his best friend, then the interviewer looks at the camera like "could mayer be a Christian? " WOW!
m00nchildblues in which time?
Ewerton Sanches Souza 1:28 is where john starts..knowingly if he does mention he IS a Christian, he will prob lose 1/2 of his fans.sad..
m00nchildblues John just has a quirky sense of humour. Notice he fakes a Texas accent when he says "Jesus"
Logan Brown Also understood that, Logan!

he looks so sad when he's singing Come Back To Bed...or is that just his music face
Still at 1 something. Was that name used as an admission or an admonoshment? Or both?
16:05 I know what you're looking for :)
;)
I gotta go now...Bye

I see why he stopped playing this "Wheel" song, it's kinda boring compared to the rest of his stuff
@Something Like Mayer because a song is hard doesn't change the fact that I can be uninteresting.
