This is the complete concert of John Mayer on December 6, 2008 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. It was the second Annual Holiday Charity Revue. Proceeds from the event were donated to the local non-profit organizations Toys for Tots and the Los Angeles Food Bank. Concert attendees were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy with a value of $10 or more. British singer-songwriter Adele opened up for him that night. The concert was named On His Own, because Mayer performed the whole concert alone with the assistance of a drum machine and a recorder to overdub his guitar.
I created this video with concert footage that I found on RUclips. There are pieces of audio without the video to support it. I have tried to fill the gaps by showing the spoken words on screen. None of the files used for this video compilation are mine and I would like to thank all the owners. Without you I would never have been able to make this video. I'm sorry if I forgot to mention someone. Please let me know so I can put you in the description.

That hummingbird’s intro is the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard
yessss
This is probably the only time I've EVER seen John play Stop This Train on an electric guitar...
Soo trueee
What part is it?
@@guitarfan2496 2:58
I love vintage footage of John because you can see his masterful progression over the years from who he was at a point in time, compared to the current version. It's special to be able to speak of him in terms of versions, where you can follow how his talents led him to become the artist and entertainer he is. Love him! He is a Master, the Man and the King ❣🌟💎👑
Honestly, this is probably the best time for John's voice.
From around 2007 to 2008, it was so great.
I think there are some notes he could hit then that he can’t now, however I think he’s developed more techniques now. He’s never had range but he gets around that better now.
His range is as close to his prime now than its ever been. His sob Rock tour is shaping up to be one of the better tours he's ever done
Yeah his tone was crazy. He had the most iconic JM voice back then. Today it's something else. More laid-back in a way, like new light or wild blue for instance but also more nasal, listen to roling on home for instance.
the austin city limits concert is such a great example of this. maybe he had a cig or joint before the show but it makes his voice raspier and its great
Hello everyone. Let me start by saying I know the quality of the video footage leaves something to be desired. However, I had to work with the footage that was available on RUclips and fortunately the audio quality is great. The fact that it is a soundboard recording is the main reason why I started this project, but also of course because it's the official sequal to the legendary 'Where the Light Is' concert. Enjoy!
PS Please consider watching my video of John's amazing concert in Amsterdam in 2014: ruclips.net/video/yLOOIg2B9Us/видео.html
If only 2008 john could see his 2023 acoustic solo tour❤
the only thing as impressive as performing this good in front of all this people and entirely "on his own" is compiling the entire concert and synchronizing the audios with unofficial videos from the show like you did. Thank you for this!
i bet he had some really really awesome versions of hummingbird at home when he was arranging it.
His tone in his lower range during an acapella "i heard it through the grapevine"❤
The year 2008 just hits different when I look back at it. I have core memories from that year and to see these beautiful songs is great.
25:26 the transition from picking to fingerpicking is insanely fast.
I wanna cry this is so amazing I can't even begin to express how happy I am!! Thank you so so much! Truly, from the bottom of my heart.
Wow, I didn't know there were people actually waiting for this :) But I'm glad I made you happy!

I’m not very technical but someone who is should Do a clip of just the intro to hummingbird, I can listen to that all day I have in fact slept with it lol all night just a beautiful beautiful sound he makes, it’s helpful when having anxiety attacks, it calms me down
I can do it for you, or try at least
it's so beautiful
@@landrehalgryn5896 if you have the time that would be very appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼🤘🏻

@@madeleinevelder6011 Hi Madeleine, I'm so sorry I didn't notice your comment earlier! I am so glad you enjoyed my video and I couldn't agree more with you about John being a musical virtuoso :) I think it's awesome that you went to see JM in Amsterdam in 2019. I enjoyed his concerts in Amsterdam in 2014 and 2017 very much. Let us all hope that it will be possible again to go to concerts like these very soon! And until then, I hope you will enjoy video's like mine ;)
Hi Thomas thank you

Thank you for sharing the wonder of John Mayer.
Really great job stitching all this footage together so well. Been trawling RUclips for gigs to watch during isolation and this is just perfect. Thanks for the upload
Thank you Thomas, Ive been looking for this since I lost the original many years ago in mp3 . Never seen the footage of this recording - 10 points an a GOLD star 👏👏👏
Thanks for the effort man! I appreciate every second of it.
Fantastic

Really awesome job man! I know how much effort it takes to make something like this. Really amazing man!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
Adele, opening for John Mayer. That sounds like a GREAT concert
I know right! I would have loved to have been there :)
Thank you so much for this
Thumbs up! Thank you!
Great job ! needed this
Thanks a lot dude.. lot love from Indonesia😁
Thank you so much for this!!!!!! ❤️
This is INCREDIBLE work! Thank you!!
big respects 👍👍👍
Nicely done!
Just wow. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. This is so cool. I wondered why it had so few views but I see you just posted. Very happy to have stumbled on it. Mayer is so good. With a band or alone.
Thanks man!! Good job
Him struggling with RFS songs gives me hope😔✊
25:48 I thought he said to never say sorry on stage
Sharp ;)
I think he was messing with the audience by pretending to mess up to hear them all yell freeeeeee. Buzz cut jm is a weird lad lol
He said never to say sorry in the context of being sick or the performance not being very good overall. If he makes a mistake there is no issue with saying sorry and starting again quick
Wow!! This is incredible! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Are you on Instagram? I’d like to credit you ❤️
No I'm not, sorry, but thanks anyway! :D
Thomas van der Donk That’s okay. I’ll post a link 😊 Thanks again!!! ❤️
That link is how I ended up here! Thank you both 💜
ZDL Yay!!
14:18 hummingbird
15:45 i promise this is not hating I’m a huge fan but the head bobbing is like meme material....
19:06 it was like: "Nah, I will stick to guitar and vocals." 😂
Awesome song though 👍
Are you going to do a new one of these with footage and taping from his Solo tour? I've never found any with your quality.
First of all, thank you for that compliment. I don't think my quality is that high but nevertheless I appreciate it that you do. About the current solo tour, I wouldn't count on it. It takes a lot of time to make a video like this, and also I would have to choose the perfect show. This one was very special because it was the show he did one year after the 'Where the Light is' concert and because there was a soundboard recording. The other video on my channel was the first time I made something like this and was very special to me because I was there and I wanted some way to relive that evening. So long story short: certain key elements would need to come together, like a good sound recording, plenty of high quality video's with multiple angles, a show worth the effort of making such a video, and a lot of time and enthusiasm from myself. So I'm not saying no, I'm just definitely not saying yes :)
@@ThomasvdDonk Thanks! I love this concert so much, I watch almost on daily basis so your video is very high quality for me, and thanks for the explanation for future videos!
1:55:05, that's the sound I make before taking a burp...
Damn Adele opened up for him???
guess Amy was busy
what kind of drum machine is he using?
this is good. thanks! buzz cut John was the best look. his voice here wasn't great though
WHAT!? It sounds amazing, widely agreed that 2007-2008 his voice was the best
Ilomilo
That Barack Obama impression is on point 😂
