Corrections: Both of Ed Tom’s dreams involved his father. Not just the latter. Also. Blood Meridian was published in April 1985; No Country was published in July 2005. So, not “almost” twenty years later, just straight-up twenty years later. That may seem like a nitpick, but I felt it was important to point out.
“Even before I engaged with No Country, I knew about Anton.” …I actually don’t know how accurate this is. Could be wrong. Can’t remember.

Stray Observation: I didn’t even notice Anton wanted to shoot the gas station dude until someone called it to my attention. XD

I actually ended up watching that David Krakauer/Cormac McCarthy interview I used as a placeholder at the beginning. It’s pretty interesting. I’ve mostly known people to be either creative-minded or numbers-minded, but McCarthy seems to be a healthy marriage of both. He’s also a big physics guy. And his insight on the unconscious is pretty cool.

Before making this review, I’d read the book and seen most of the movie in bits and pieces, from TV and yt, but after making this review I decided to watch the movie proper, for legitimacy. (It’s amazing, btw, but I already knew that.) It’s one of those things like when I couldn’t remember if I’d read the epilogue to Blood Meridian after uploading the Blood Meridian video. Fairly certain I did-it’s like 3/4 of a page long-but I in my infinite OCD had to make very sure and read it. Navigating yt is gonna be brutal with OCD as bad as mine, but I really hope it makes me thorough rather than drives me crazy. I’ve always kinda wanted to do RUclips, so I thought I’d try anyway. I guess we shall see. :3

(Correction(s) in description. Random thoughts below.)
One. Still getting the hang of this microphone. Can you tell? lol
Two. In my opinion, writing a likable hero is a lot harder than writing a likable villain. Readers love playing ‘Devil’s advocate’-modern media has trained us to do so-and moral complexity is often a point of fascination, intrigue. But you have to tread carefully when writing a hero, lest they become too flawless and unrealistic, too bland. That said, imagine writing one of the coolest villains of all time, and still managing to write a cooler hero. McCarthy was-and always will be-a legend. 👑
Three. While making this video, I realized something neat about the scene with Ed Tom’s final monologue. If you listen closely, you can hear the clock ticking in the background as he talks. No sad, orchestral music; just his voice and a ticking clock. After he stops, the ticking continues a few milliseconds after the screen goes dark, as if to really hammer home the message. That is so eerie and cool abdxcvhthgvh...
Four. “You can’t stop what’s coming.”/“We can’t fight change, we can’t fight gravity, we can’t fight nothin. My whole life, all I ever did was fight…” And I wonder why the McCarthy-verse reminds me so much of Red Dead lol.
Five. In my Gabi vid I said I didn’t get too emotionally invested in TV and media, or whatever, but I’m starting to think I just didn’t know myself well enough.
    Six. Call it, friendo. 🪙

I really like the works of Cormac McCarthy and have already read a couple of his books and also "No country for old men". Very good material, nice to listen to you. I'm waiting for more videos and I give lika and sub (Ed Tom also my favorite character)

Lord Farquaad 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i completely slipped on that.
Have you found another author similar to McCarthy?
I love McCarthy. Any suggestions? Or does your boyfriend have any suggestions?
*Based on your 'Red Dawn' video on, seems like he might have some good suggestions. Especially if he has the great taste you seem to have.

Yeah, a lot of people say he looks like Lord Farquaad XD
      F. Scott Fitzgerald is absolutely brilliant. The Great Gatsby is a wonderful read. Not as rough-and-tumble or gritty as McCarthy, but eloquent in a more posh, sheltered-is that the word I’m looking for?-sense. I read it a while back, and just recently I bought myself a copy. I’ve not reread it in totality yet, I’m just like two or so chapters in, but being older now and understanding more, I have to say…what I *have* reread is absolutely breathtaking.

@owliiie 😄 still awesome. Fitzgerald is awesome 🙂 even if your mum bought it for you. It's still cool. Nice of you're mum.

I’m in the camp of not having seen No Country For Old Men. Super insightful video, I’m glad I was of the mind to head over from TikTok. Awesome start to a new channel, makes me want to keep going with mine. Keep up the good work 🙏🫶
