Scratch Golf Academy I’m having trouble hitting my golf ball straight I have been going to the driving range to practice my swing
Thanks for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a search on google)? It is a great one of a kind product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got amazing success with it.
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "how do you use a pitching wedge video?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Reyuhaffad Underlying Recognition - (search on google ) ? It is a smashing one off guide for revealing the secret to become an amazing golfer minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
I have been working on my swing during lockdown and have gravitated to Adam and SGA. The perfect balance between the technical and mental aspects of the game. Concise and sensible suggestions without the clutter or the 'you must do this or it's not correct' approach. Also, a very wide range of subjects covers most of my questions. Thanks mate!
Thanks very much for the comment, and glad you like the videos.
All the best, Adam.
Hi Adam, I am a 66 year old golfer, so I can appreciate all that you are showing us! We have all been there! But over the years I found it so important to have the thumbs close to the fore finger on the grip, (just like you do) a subject that you have not highlighted, but then again, your such a great mentor in showing such great details in most of the golfing tuition, it is a little thing you have left out! I learned this tip from Jack, who highlighted this. Thank you so much for your video's, I recon you are in first place when it comes to mentors!
Thanks very much Alan!
All the best, Adam
Just started golfing a few months ago. I'm loving the progress I'm making just from playing, but now its time to actually start improving on the little things. Grip being one of em. Thanks so much for this video!
Thanks Cameron, hope you keep making progress.

i find i slice 90% of the time with a baseball grip.
Recently addicted to SGA. The best instruction out there, period. The App is tremendous as well.
Very kind of you Peterson
All the best, Adam
Today my brother showed me this exact thing. I had a strong grip more in my palm and would duck hook. First 5 shots with this new grip I absolutely smashed pin straight. This works.
Glad to hear it Brandon
All the best, Adam
Thanks for the video very knowledgeable!
You’re welcome
Thanks Adam, see if it works to eliminate my slides. Let you know on Monday.

i can see why he's an award winning golf teacher. he's awesome! thanks.
Thanks very much.

I am a 7 h/c and have been struggling a bit lately after watching this I went to the range today and wow my swing is fixed, my pro told me I have to clear my hips never said anything about my grip. My weakish grip and not that weak by the way was causing me to come over the top and have a bit of a wing so after strengthening my left hand all of the above is gone, I did pull a couple of drives but that was due to not keeping back behind the ball at impact and getting a bit quick I think. Heaps more distance now, 5 here I come.
Glad to hear it Wayne. Thanks for the comment.
All the best, Adam
This guy is the best on here. I wish he had also mentioned the left index finger. I was placing the pressure point along the base of my left index finger instead of the first joint/middle fleshy pad. Gripping it along the base was closing my face when I gripped it slightly. Changing it where it's suppose to be made a difference. So many instructors on here focus only on the heel pad, which of course is very important. The index finger pressure point gets overlooked. Still, he's a great teacher and always has a very professionally presented video....I'm just tired of seeing that beautiful Orlando weather every time.....Guy has a charmed life....LOL
Turns out I'm extraordinarily strong.. Thanks for the advice! will put it in play at the range
Hope you make progress
@@Scratchgolfacademy Update! My drives are a lot further, and MUCH straighter, almost no slice at all. Much more consistent
Funny thing as well, my hands don't hurt as much either now, and my grip on my club has loosened a lot.
Your advice was fantastic!
Thank you!
Great tip. I was hitting it then much better at the range, and a bit straighter.
Glad to hear it Thabo.

How should your forearms be positioned? Rotated in? Out? Whatever feels natural?
I'd go with whatever feels natural Thomas.
All the best, Adam
Thanks for this!😊
You’re welcome
You are an excellent teacher and your delivery is very good. I have seen many teachers over the years both in person and on the internet and you are very effective. I have shot my age or better just over 100 times ( not from the senior tees) and am still cranking the tee shots pretty good although I sometimes fight a hook. I am living proof that your teaching can still teach an old dog new tricks.:)) Thank you.
Gerry,
thanks very much. Congrats on the shooting your age number!

Thank you so much, I have been struggling to get the right grip because I have been pushing the ball left.
Thanks, I hope you make good progress.

Are you left handed
Thanks for the grip lesson much appreciated.
Glad you found it helpful Jerry.

would you like to comment on the differences between driver grip and iron grip, if any? As a result of ball position (I think) my right hand tends to be more "clockwise" for the longer clubs.
Peter,
I'd say there isn't any difference in the grip. However, as an individual you may vary from that, I understand what you're saying regards ball position and right hand grip. As long as it's working for you, and is only a small difference it should be no problem.
Best, Adam
Scratch Golf Academy Thanks Adam.
Good review - will hopefully inspire a few more visits. Surprised to sense an initial reluctance to visit this track from such a well-travelled golfer! Please continue to review more courses like this
Thanks, Adam
When I look down at the ball, do I actually look at the ball or do I look at the bottom of the swing. Talking about strike point.
I have one or two videos at the channel about ‘head down’ or looking at the ball. I hope they’ll be helpful to you
Just wanted to say awesome videos. I will be going through them over the next few weeks to see what I can do to improve my game. Currently about a 5 handicap and want to take the next step towards scratch! Have you thought about doing a swing analysis series for viewers?

Where does your thumb place on the shaft?
Down the middle or to the left slightly?
I am a right handed golfer.
Tim,
On top, to slightly on the right side (as the right gander looks down on his hands).

How far from the end of the grip should my left hand be? For example, the distance from my left pinky to the end? 1/2"? 1"? More? Thanks!
Optional Daniel, but fairly near the end.

Hi, I’m been playing golf for a while now and I’ve got a really bad slice also sometimes I when I tee off with the driver I sometimes hit the ground before I hit the ball I’d love some feed back on how to fix this please
Thanks Nathan.
Regards slicing, I have a number of videos on that at this channel. Hope you'll find them helpful.

This fellas accent is so interesting. Idk if I just need to sleep but it's like a mixture of American, Scottish and Australian.
Grew up in UK, adult like in USA
I'm sorry, but I only speak English. Thanks for watching the video, and best success for your game.
Adam
Is this grip the same for irons?
Just subscribed easy vids to follow and the way you go into detail is awesome,im a beginner so lots to learn
Thanks, hope you enjoy some good progress.

Baseball grip, varden grip, or interlocking grip? Talked a bunch (great info) on how to place hands on club but nothing on which type of grip is best for the player: age, ability, swing speed..etc. I was told in my recent club fitting that I should get away from the classic baseball grip and begin practicing the varden or overlapping grip do to my age..I’m 34.
Thanks for the question. I deal with those various options of the grip at the www.scratchgolfacademy.com website , but happy to comment.
I've heard all the things you likely have about which option suits which kind of player etc, my feeling is that it's not very important (as evidenced by great players that do each of those three). I think it's much more important where the club is placed inside the hand, than how the overlap is or isn't done. I'd stay with what's comfortable for you.
All the best, Adam
Can shortening the club shaft increase accuracy or am I better to cut the shaft?
Glen,
Shortening the shaft increases accuracy, but reduces distance.
Best, Adam
What do I need for beginner golf : driver regular flex or stiff flex and so on....?
You'd really need to have a professional clubfitter work with you to determine that, likely regular flex though.

@@Scratchgolfacademy I'm Korean. Klpga pro. I tried a new lesson video through RUclips, but it was not easy. But watching your RUclips video has helped me a lot.
thanks for helping me
Glad you found the video helpful.

Thanks Adam. Another great video as always. A quick question. for some reason my club is twisting in my hands as swing, causing me to lose control and power. Any suggestions? Regards, Steve
Thanks Steve. Twisting in the hands is almost always the result (miss hit causing club to twist), and doesn't spontaneously happen on a solid hit. Hope this helps.
Best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy thanks Adam. I appreciate the reply. Regards, Steve
Adam, everytime I make an adjustment that gets rid of my slice it returns in a short time,,,,
I'd practice hitting hooks John.

Great video. How long is your driver ?
My driver is 45 inches.
All the best, Adam
i have had a weak grip my whole life. It allows for nice fading with irons but killed my driver. For 3 yrs instructors tried to get me to change but i resisted bcz the grip is so hard to change. I finally compromised. i invented this method where with driver, i take my normal grip, loosen it ,and rotate to the right. When i did this: voila! high beautiful draws!!!!
I only do this with driver.
Glad you're driving it better. If it's working and giving you confidence stick with it.
Best, Adam
how about doing a video on pivot stall and adding dynamic loft to square the club? also a common problem?
+Michael Duffy
Michael,
Glad to. By pivot stall do you mean body stopping too early and hands flipping? I assume we are referring to driving with both requests?
Thanks
+Scratch Golf Academy hi tx for replying.. yes body stalling and flipping with hands but mostly with irons
Michael Duffy
OK Michael. I will have a go at that in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks
Michael,
Plan to do a video on flipping at impact (finally). Should be posted within 10 days. Thanks, Adam
Thought I saw another of your videos viz. grip that said to bury it in your palm, not so much into your fingers. Am I wrong?
You'd have it in the palm for putting, to stabilize the wrists.
Thanks, Adam
can anyone help me out im a beginner and i keep hitting the driver really low and far left but cant understand why.
Hard to say without seeing you swing, but likely clubface is closed at impact.
Hope this helps.
Best, Adam
what course is he at?
Mediterra in Naples, Florida
A lot of people teach to have a strong grip but if my glove logo doesn’t face the target I’ll close the face too soon so I have to have a pretty weak left hand grip to hit it straight.
Whatever works for you is what you should go with

@@Scratchgolfacademy I love your videos Adam you’re a great teacher

hi Adam what golf ball do you play ?
Sananda,
Lately I've been playing Callaway Chrome Soft.

I heard that Jack put the club more in his palm as he has shorter fingers. My fingers are a little shorter as well. Would you recommend a little more in the palm for those who have shorter fingers? Thanks.
Not sure if Jack really did that, I wouldn't recommend it though.
All the best, Adam
Okay, I think I’ve come to the realization that I need a bigger grip. Seems like standard plus 2 might do the trick. Thanks.

Thanks, glad you liked the video.

do you lock your pinky and index finger
I don't, but it's a viable option (Nicklaus & Woods both do). Find the option that works best for you.
