If it's gonna be mandatory, then be sure EVERYTHING is covered, unlimited, with a thousand dollar annual cap all out full stop. Co pays that drain a retiree's funds are stupid!
😂😂😂👍 I have adult children so I do understand. Amen to that!😵💫😂 🤔 I feel that Medicare should be available to everyone who receives Social Security retirement, at whatever age they retire. What’s with this? You have to wait until you’re 65? That’s just the number someone put in place. And it’s unfair for people that retire and collect Social Security retirement that they should be entitled to that when they’re entitled to Social Security retirement at whatever age they retire at! That needs to change.
Congress, found that in 2024 alone, Medicare will pay MA plans at least $83 billion more than what it would have paid to cover the same enrollees under standard public Medicare.
I read 2 articles that making Advantage plans mandatory would require a 20% tax on payroll. Half paid by employee, half by employer. I doubt anyone would agree to this.
@@ursamagickmt672 that’s true! But I don’t worry about it. I’m an organ donor and although I have a good life when it’s my time to go and I’m called Home I’m going and ready! So if they refuse me surgery, then I guess I’ll die. You only left two choices, what are you gonna do?
Hey Doc, you mentioned at the end of the video, last question a minute or so from the end of the recording, that you would post something about getting survivor benefits for a divorced spouse when they just learned of the death of their former husband which may have happened a year or two ago. I happen to have a family member in just that exact situation, and she called to talk to SSA last week, and they set her up an appointment for a few weeks from now. She is over 70+ and has been collecting on her own benefit for all these years not knowing she may have been entitled to Divorced Spouse Benefits. She was married for more than 10 years to her spouse, but divorced 15-20 years ago and is not married at this time. When she goes in for her meeting with SSA, it would be nice for her to have the POMS Chapter and Verse in hand dealing with possibly getting back pay for all the months that she was unaware that she could have collected either IEDS or Widow's benefits. I sure would like to provide this info to her before her meeting with SSA. Thanks again for all you do! Hopefully you can respond to this request. I'll be watching 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
I will be 65 in May of 2025. I looked into sighing up for Medicaid on the Website. The website said Social Security issues a Medicaid number. I haven’t seen anything in the mail.
I think Medicare needs to do a much better job of explaining the difference between old school Medicare and the advantage plans. On their face they are really very simple
My Humana Advantage plan got canceled and the letter says I have until Feb 28, 2025 to choose. BUT I've asked for plan N 3 weeks ago and I am waiting on the medical examiner underwriting.( I am in excellent health) I'm so afraid this will take too long and they will put me on Medical Advantage on Dec 7, EVEN THOUGH TH LETTER DAYS I HAVE UNTIL FEB 28, 2025. What do you think?? Barb D
How do insurance companies make more money with advantage plans? If they get more from the government, how would that help the sustain the system? Supplement plans require a premium and advantage plans don’t so I don’t see the benefit for the government or the insurance companies. Deductibles?
I cant even afford groceries now, ( my neighbor buys for me) so just take more from my monthly s.s amount to cover something i dont want. Many will become homeless with this b.s.
My providers despise the so-called "advantage" plans. The insurance companies are in business for one reason: to make money. If they force those of us who are elderly and require some medical services to take one of those worthless Dis-Advantage plans, we will be in deep trouble.
The government should give a subsidy for low income people for the premium on HDG and rid themselves of advantage plans. If people can afford comprehensive coverage they can buy plan N. I think plan G will go to the wayside in the future like J and F because they will still think people don't have enough "skin" in the game.

We don’t have any advantage plans, thank God. Where I live not enough providers to form a network that would accept it.
I’m 64 with Medicaid , do I need to sign up for Medicare by December 7 ?

I just filed under Spouse benefits but it cost me 300 months in SNAP benefits, that I would not have lost under Disability.
@@eldin14 Sorry to hear about the loss of your SNAP benefits, but I believe that is unrelated to the question above relating to Widow's Benefits.

Advantage plans pay far less than medicare does. That's how. And that's why dr's and hospitals are dropping them.

was it ever??

No we do not have a good system!
Cigna had 2 premium increases in 2024!
Statista 2023 income distribution in US 14.4% make income over 200,000
Does Medicare Advantage accept preexisting conditions?
The ACA totally did away with preexisting. And preexisting doesn’t exist with Medicare plans. Never has
Nope not if oz got anything to do with it
They accept everybody. Supplements need underwriting, except at 65. For the most part.
Of course it does.
I work in Healthcare we regular get denials from MedAdvantage plans for pre existing conditions
Oh 54 now it began at 50

Not so. I've had one for 8 years now, and it's an HMO that all doctors in a 7county area accepts!
