The twins were performing in Charlotte NC and were abandoned by their manager , they found work at a store called Park N Shop . The manager at the store attended a near by church and found a member there that had a house near the store and church and the twins stayed there worked at the store and attended the church . After the twins had missed work for several days an inquiry was made and their bodies were frond in the house . A lady who attended that same church had two gravesites , one of which was occupied by her son and one on reserve for herself . She offered this one remaining gravesite for the twins burial . The area in Charlotte NC where the twins were abandoned , worked at the store , lived and attended church is within several miles of Wal Mart on Wilkinson Blvd . They are interred several miles north of that area in a cemetery on Freedom Drive. Theirs was a sad life .
That is so sad, the lady’s son was so very young. A kind gesture to donate her spot for the twins. I wonder where she ended up being buried herself, somewhere nice I hope.
Their story is so sad. What a difficult life. And to think one sister died several days before the other? My gosh, what a nightmare for the remaining one! Horrible, horrible. Makes one appreciate what one has.
The third most famous set of conjoined twins are also buried in NC, near Whiteville. Millie and Christine McKoy are there. Their story is just as interesting.
Great scoop and research. Keep it up. I am in the South, and my mom was in disbelief about Chang and Eng. Vaudeville has always weirded me out, and not really only for the "freak acts". All of it spooked me out. Plz make more!
My mom worked in the Barnes circus in 1928 & in Burlesque and Vaudeville in the 1930's. I don't recall her saying she met Chang and Eng, but I do know she was familiar with Daisy & Violet. But that is as far as my memory takes me. Thanks for your good work in finding info. I enjoyed the childhood photos. I wonder what happened to their birth mother.
Thanks for your comments! There’s not much I could find about there birth mother after she gave them up, unfortunately. I bet your mom had some great stories of her times working in the circus. The Barnes circus was bought out in 1929 by the American Circus Corp and eventually that was purchased by Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey. Lots of circus history in the US!
@@ReallyBigSchu I remember going to the grocery store called the park and shop i don't no if it was these ladies but if so thay were very sweet and kind. Charlotte NC
@@judylocust2015 They did work at the Park N Shop so it is very possible you meet them. That’s a great story and it’s amazing how they found their way to Charlotte and decided to stay!
I like how someone put the figurine in front on Daisy's date of birth in an attempt to hide she was wayyyy older than her husband. I'm glad the twins had such good friends.
Daisy's death certificate says she died of pneumonia. Buffalo newspaper clipping says she got married at 33 to Harold Estep, 25, stage name Buddy Sawyer, Master of Ceremonies.
I did a little recent research... Troy Thompson died in the Vietnam War. Troy's father knew the Hilton sisters and offered that space since the Hilton's died penniless and there were no funds to purchase a grave and marker for themselves. Sometime later the ground level marker was added. Further research and a lot of great comments here makes me think I should release an update video at some point. Thanks for your comments!
This is rather a wonderful video, you are able to give a summary on their life successfully, as well as fulfill the purpose of this video which is the visiting of their grave. I find the Hilton sisters very lovely. I am so captivated by their harmonies in the parts where they sang in their film “Chained for life.” If you’re interested with the Hilton sisters, I’ll leave a link of that movie. ruclips.net/video/NoFQNnB7cOg/видео.html
Thanks for your comments and the link... I will definitely watch that movie! The story of the Hilton sisters is amazing to be sure... so many highs and lows throughout their lives.
According to Wikipedia they were born in Brighton, England. The article lists an address, and also states that a plaque is now in front of the house. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the additional information! Your detail answers my question, and makes sense why the Hiltons are buried with the Thompson grave marker.

There are very cruel people in this world, so sad 😞
To think in today's Times they could have been separated and lived very different lives, beautiful looking girls.
I’m disgusted reading what these girls suffered 😡😡😢😢😢😢 I’m glad they’re not here anymore ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

family grave! these poor ladies had no family or family friends or they wouldn't have been abused so badly 😒
Awesome Vid!
Glad you enjoyed it... thanks for watching!
Interesting. Thanks
I've studied the Hilton twins and other multiples for several years. Were the dolls on top of the stone "conjoined?"
I actually do not remember... I didn't take a good look, but the dresses may have been sewed together.
Great 👍 video friend. May they rip. They had a beautiful voice. Amen 🙏.

Such sad life they had. Blessed be there safe now
There were some co-joined twins born in NC a number of years ago, girls. But they were able to be successfully separated. Not common.
