The anti calf-definition trend is crazy to me! I live in the Netherlands, so I cycle almost everyday as a means of transport. I couldn’t imagine girls and women here giving up cycling because they are afraid of muscle definition.

It’s really sad how corporations profit off of people’s insecurities with no remorse at all. Some years ago, I got some non-invasive massage procedures to get rid of my cellulite. They acted like it was permanent, so I thought it _was_ permanent. I never would’ve wasted my money if I had known just how temporary it was.

Lord Jesus Christ is coming back everyone, please don’t worship celebrities and entertainment, focus on Him alone. I promise there’s more to life than money, partying, homosexuality and music. Hell is real, repent from sinning confess your sins and ask God to forgive you, I know He will if you’re sincere. Anyone who thinks the Name of Lord Jesus Christ is a joke, boldly mocks and scorns Him or takes pleasure in people who do is in for a big unpleasant surprise on judgement day IF they don’t repent and follow Lord Jesus Christ. Hell is very hot, people please repent! In the mighty name of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen 🙏💪✝️💜❤️✝️!

Our Creator, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is mighty, He doesn’t need a woman to beget a son, He is God. So, it’s time to confess that Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord and to believe that He died and rose from the grave after three days and you shall be saved if you only obey Him by praying, worshipping, praising, reading the Bible and living holy and righteously according to the Bible. You have to endure until the end, carry your cross daily and build your relationship with God by following Lord Jesus daily until the end. You must never renounce your faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, there’s hell awaiting those who reject/deny Lord Jesus Christ and those who continue living sinfully, even the Christians who don’t want to repent will face the same fate, so please repent beloved people, in Lord Jesus Christ’s mighty and precious Name, Amen.✝️

the main issue i see with the "body profile" trend is that people are just dieting very badly still aiming for the 45kg but trying to have a defined body, In the gym I work out if you tried to do that they just would accept up cause it's just not the right way to do it.

what I don't understand is how it was supposed to be "take a picture of my young days showing how I was healthy" but doing unhealthy diets and unhealthy workout routines to get there... and also feeding into unrealistic body beauty standards... like no one is like that all the time because it's unsustainable, but people are gonna see that and feel bad because they don't look like that while everyone else seems to do it... and it can also get people into some crazy eating disorders and body dysmorphia...
surely it is a way of getting some motivation on having a better diet or more exercise, and also a way to remember how you were, but people are doing it very extremely...

14:44 problem with it is, once again, it's about LOOKING fit and LOOKING healthy.
Plenty of skinny people aren't fit and healthy. Crash dieting to get in shape in a short period of time is also not really healthy long term. I don't know if you can be described as fit or healthy if
you're genuinely not planning to continue it.

Lmao this whole thing with “if you’re Tan, then you’re rich” or “if you’re pale, then you’re rich” stuff is dumb. When you’re rich you can afford to either stay inside OR be outside more than the average person, so a rich person can be either more lighter skinned or more tanned. Skin color got little to do with it.

    • @aufache
      @aufache 2 года назад +4

People dont see tan as being rich in the US. Its generally an aesthetic people like to do to their skin here... as a way to look "lively" and full of "color" i guess.
That aside im part of the small group that doesnt tan myself, avoids sun exposure, and wears sunscreen when i have to go outside/work during prime sun hours. Lol. Personally i do it to keep my skin looking youthful and preventing sun damage. I dont find tan people attractive, i think it looks careless and lack of self respect to the body we've been given. But my opinion matters not lol.
Has nothing to do with wealth.
Its also very easy to get burned in /everyday/ life without having to go on vacation. It is cumulative. It actually takes a lot of effort not to color/burn/damage your skin during summer time.
Its also very common to see people born with light skin looking like permanent red lobsters with leathered skin in adulthood from all the everyday sun exposure and lack of sun care. Thats just from a decades of neglect - not vacationing. Lol. Hopefully I've cleared up some misconceptions.
Cant speak for asia. Maybe thats more true as a status symbol...

It sounds like a step in the right direction. Like you said, there's some downsides like gyms only making it a short-term thing and such, but on the whole I think eating properly and exercising is a *way* healthier lifestyle than the previous "skinny at all costs" beauty standard, which was basically just starvation and bulimia.
There's a club in Seoul called Monkey Beach. If you climb up a ten-foot pole and ring a bell at the top, you get a free bucket of alcohol. The catch is, you have to be a girl. I had fun going there because climbing up a pole is pretty easy for foreign girls (especially if you hug the pole with your knees) but none of the Korean girls were strong enough to do it (haha). That's when I first realized the beauty standard was quite different. Western girls wanted to look fit and healthy; Korean girls wanted to look dainty, delicate, and helpless.

People need to realize these type of videos focusing on 'dark side of Korea' are informative but also a trend which is a source of money for youtubers by attracting many views. As a result, it can be exaggerated. I am a woman and a very active feminist so no intention to minimize gender discrimination in SK. But when I saw a video of a Korean husband supporting her wife participate fitness model competition, I saw a english comment got a THOUSANDS of likes. It was saying "wow. I heard South Korea is very patriarchic so never expected him to be that supportive. Glad he is nice to his wife!" Lmao. What do they think we are 😂 It is just average family. They might thought Korean man would lock Korean woman in house and force them only to cook? Too much of a generalization happening in this youtube. Patriarchism in Korea is not 'being rude to your wife'. There are more dynamics in our society. I know it is hard for foreigners to understand but sometimes the level of ignorance is almost racist 🙄 too funny how ppl expect us to be a 'STRANGE MONSTRS'.

      @shelby3755 Год назад +4

@@roar5853 That’s what I thought as well. Because people’s views on Korea (both natives and foreigners alike) tend to be SO vastly different from each other, sometimes it’s hard to discern what’s actually true and what’s not. There are people reporting very pleasant experiences of Korea and its people and there are people who claim the exact opposite. I guess the fetishization and idealisation of k-culture was what led to this in the first place. 🤷🏽‍♀️Just like a few decades ago when it was America, not East Asian countries like now, that was being idealised with ‘the American Dream’ and everything. And then realised it wasn’t that great of a place (at least how they had originally envisioned it to be) after all.

This kind of extreme dieting and exercising thing is very common in bodybuilding, but what these people taking body profile pics don’t realise is that people often cannot be that lean all the time, and they panic when they gain all their weight back once they start eating normally again.
It seems to promote that lean = healthy just because you have a six pack and muscles, when in fact it’s not necessarily healthy to be that low in bodyfat.

Yeah I would do a body profile but not to be extra skinny with showing abs for a day…would gladly do it with my bf we need to loose weight for health reason but keeping nice pictures of ourselves is good. I just would not book months in advance and fail to meet the deadline and only eating chicken breast for 6months to get in shape

If you moved to live outside of east asia then you're westernized too. God forbid you're half east asian, because if so then it doesn't even matter if you have been outside of east asia or speak english lol, you will be labelled as westernized 😀 I'm half Chinese and grew up in a fully Chinese community, pretty much detached from my non chinese side. @@ta0304 Absolutely. Many of the modern beauty standards aren’t common looks among East Asians. The fair skin standard did come before colonization. But having a pink skin undertone seems popular in beauty trends. Pink undertone is common in some groups of Westerners/Europeans. The “Russian elf” look was very popular at a point. Colored contacts & blonde hair is popular in Kpop (idk if it is outside of Kpop). I’ve seen White people being praised for their beauty who wouldn’t be considered very attractive in the West.

@@chiiix33 The worst part is people think that POC getting shamed for their skin color is bad but on the other hand it's somehow a compliment for White people when East Asians perpetuate these standards. In reality a lot of Asia fetishizes White people and it's not a compliment for White people at all. I don't know why people never speak about that, I'm sure it's quite uncomfy for them to be seen as objects/procreators/idols and not as human.

@@seriouslystop7494 I get what you're saying. I think it would definitely make some White people uncomfortable. But in all honestly, humans love hierarchy. A lot of White people experience an elevated sense of self when POC put them on a pedestal. It doesn't make them "evil" or horrible, but it is the reality. That's how it is for most social standards. The people who fit the standard are very likely to develop a superiority complex about it, and that complex varies based on each individual.

Wanting to look good and following trends has only partly to do about attracting men. Most people just wanna feel confident in they're skin. There is no obligation to be in the uppermost desired tier of female attraction. For some women it comes almost naturally, some have to work hard at it and for some... It is near impossible.
One does not simply try to change the prerequisites of beauty standards in an attempt to include everyone. It defeats the logic. There will ALWAYS be a spectrum of beauty, no matter how much you try to move the goal posts.
No amount of social engineering will change anything. You try make heavier women with thicker calves the 'in' thing.. you will get people buying unhealthy body augments. Naturally slim women buying weight gain products that go against their natural bodily behaviour.. etc etc.
Lets all stop being jealous that some women are absolute mind blowingly slim and elegant. Be smart.. if something seems unobtainable.. its most likely not for you. Gosh if you agree that super slim is the absolute goal and you want to break yourself going for it, that's on you. Not the fault of beauty standards.
Im never going to be a Sumo Wrestler or an NBA Basket baller due to having a dull, average build. I will not endanger my life striving for those things in attempt to attract women, or to feel confident in myself. I expect women to use the same simple logic.
I almost feel like if woman had it their way, they would give every person in the Olympics a Gold medal just for taking part.

No, but seriously... generally men rank women who let other men etch permanent scribbles on their bodies pretttty low. I assume its to do with their lack of
inhibition, their poor decision making or their desparation to stand out from the crowd.
You will find the odd niche male who finds them attractive, but you do need to take careful consideration into the type of guys who are into tattood women.
Of course there are exceptions to all rules, but a heads up for any young ladies who think its wise to go down that route. Truely ask youself, do you think many of the women who got tattoos when they were young, don't regret it on some level?

i was so horrified seeing some of these body profile videos on youtube because i had imagined that these people put in over a year's worth of effort at the minimum to have these body profile shoots. imagine my shock when they barely did 2-3 months of hardcore exercise and restricted eating to take these pictures.. literally traumatizing the body in my opinion! and creating so much mental fatigue. it looks so painful especially cutting out water the previous day before the shoot. i didn't understand it at all after learning all that. and i wondered what would become of their bodies once they finished their photoshoot. its so sad that we live in such a fast culture, no one looks at fitness as a lifelong or long-term ambition, they want their dream body as fast as possible and will do anything it takes, including putting their bodies and minds through pain and trauma, to get there.
