    Very good job. Like that you torqued everything down and explained everything. Just curious, why didn’t you replace the valve cover gaskets?

      They are not leaking and I didn't want to open Pandora's box. 😎

    You are a Genius! I like your zipper fix. I found electric tape also can hold the coil connector in place, which is easier for me though not as elegant as your zipper fix.

      Thank you, can't take all the credit. It's an old mechanic trick, that you pick up along the way 😉

    One more question, tried to do the job today, was super easy up until those two back bolts, near the throttle body and the behind the manifold, so I had to piece everything back together and give up. It’s way too tight in the back, do I need to take apart the wiper assembly?

      Try a ratchet type box wrench with a swivel. Not an affiliate link just an example: www.amazon.com/Jetech-Industrial-Ratcheting-Heat-Treated-Combination/dp/B00VX71DBY/ref=mp_s_a_1_15_sspa?crid=65MJKY5F64PE&keywords=swivel%2Bwrench&qid=1698974421&sprefix=swivel%2Bwr%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-15-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmX25leHQ&psc=1&th=1
      That may give you the proper angle you need. 12mm and 14mm. Those two bolts in the back are a bugger to get loose. Taking the wiper assembly off doesn't help on the Highlander, and I suspect that is the same for the RX. The firewall is very close to the bolts.

      Just an FYI, that's also why I changed the rear coils when I was that far into the job.

    I found online it’s 13ft lbs for spark plugs but i don’t know how big of a deal it is. Also I guess mine are original at 140k mikes that’s crazy.

    • @justbehandy

      The spark plugs intervals are 120k miles on this engine. Some people have gone as far as 250k miles. As for spark plug torque in aluminum cylinder head, that is usually around 15 ft-lbs +/- 3 ft-lbs, but the site I went to showed 18 ft-lbs, which is on the upper end, and I didn't have any issues.

      @@justbehandy oh okay that makes sense then. I didn’t get coils even though I should have so I’ll probably have to do those then in 50k miles or so. This was a super helpful video btw definitely best I could find thanks for the help! My car looks a bit different since it’s a hybrid v6 but it should still be mostly the same.

    Do i have to switch my coils if i am only replacing my sparks plugs?

    • @justbehandy
      @justbehandy  5 месяцев назад

      No, I changed the rear coils only as a precaution since my vehicle has over 200k. Two reasons 1) The rear coils are difficult to get to, and 2) when I tested the rear coils, they had high resistances. Hope that helps.

    You may have fake plugs

    • @justbehandy
      @justbehandy  2 месяца назад

      I checked them with a meter and they ohmed the same as OE plugs.

      @@justbehandy doesn’t mean you bought the genuine plugs moreover they made in Taiwan. I bought a set of 6 for my Rx330. It said made in Japan on the plugs but still fake

    • @justbehandy
      @justbehandy  2 месяца назад

      @jeffhuynh6186 pretty sure mine are not fake.

      i am about to buy some ngk plugs where should i buy them from

    • @justbehandy
      @justbehandy  Месяц назад

      You can buy them on Amazon just check that the seller is reputable and only sells auto parts. Also, you can buy direct through NGK website, your local NAPA, AutoZone, Advanced Auto, etc. Last you can check with the dealer and see if they sell them as well. Sometimes they will have them on hand so they can be competitive with the service price vs. Toyota label plug. Hope that helps.
