If PGI actually adds batchalls to the game, the options better be:
>Bargained well and done
>YOU DARE TO REFUSE MY BATCHALL?! ( -50 Honor )
And if you're playing the defending Sphere side:
"Refuse your *what*?"
Breaks a star!
@@cykeok35253050 Jaime Wolf explains what that is. 3049 where mw5 mercs should end is when the invasion begins and everyone is just dying.
Considering only worthy opponents are given the honour of a Batchall where they have the opportunity to obtain glory, honour and the chance for a fair duel of forces for equal prizes, to refuse it is akin to spitting in the face of someone who considered you worthy of it's issue. Hence why in the Battletech cartoon the Clan Falcon commander was so heavily offended by the refusal, despite it being a meme, it was a valid reaction. That's why the clans go to war over refusals, it's a straight up insult. Which indicates the absurdity of clan society, to be issued a Batchall it is expected to be responded with by accepting it and offering terms, a refusal is simply unfathomable to their warped indoctrinated minds.
@@foxdavion6865 Yeah, the reaction makes sense in the context of their customs. Like, as you mentioned, offering a batchall is showing that you honor your opponent, so refusing it is extremely bad manners.
But also like you mentioned, Clan society is absurd. For example, they are so fixated on conducting their version of war, to the exclusion of all else.. such as knowing their own history.
How could they not know that their ritualized trials are all customs that were only developed after the Exodus, and therefore the Inner Sphere would not share those customs? They must place so little importance on history that they didn't even know this basic fact. The expectation of honorably and honestly providing full disposition of forces involved before a battle also means that their intel gathering methods had atrophied.
Arguably, this is part of what led to their defeat; they're so wrapped up in their own version of reality with no knowledge beyond their own Trial-style warfare, and no capability for flexible thinking, that the Inner Sphere managed to exploit this Tukayyid, and then for Operations Bulldog and Serpent.
Thank goodness. We're moving into the Clans timeline.
There are already mods that do that for current mw5.
@@Foxstabwell they add mechs/equipment but the missions are still succession wars
@@ricky6608Good point.
Considering the vast majority of titles are in the Clan Invasion Era and further, I don’t see much of a problem with having a single game take place during the Succession Wars-
During MechCon 2018 I was on the front row when Russ and Matt were presenting MW5. My comment to them was "I have no concern how the 'mech combat will go, as PGI has shown their mastery in MWO. However, PGI has not shown skills in AI and storytelling." What were the two worse things with MW5? Yeah.
However, I like how PGI is spreading their wings step by step. Looking forward to stomping on some freebirth.
Tbf, storytelling improved dramatically from DLC1 onward
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how much of this is exclusively created by PGI, anymore. They got bought by EG7, and it sounds like they've been pulling in other, more experienced, development teams to work on MW5 and add their expertise to some of the latest DLC's, and are probably heavily involved in this one, as well.
MechWarrior games have always had shit ai so it's nothing to bash on pgi about.
@@TimberWulfIsHere Maybe, but they've always been able to scale difficulty by the accuracy of the enemy AI, not by the quantity of enemy AI. I used to run all my old singleplayer campaigns on Elite, and the only difference was the ability of the enemy to wreck face. The number of enemy units never increased.
@@c182SkylaneRG that's a difficulty system which mw5 technically doesn't have. Mw4 had that you also did less damage per difficulty level and AI just try to fuck your ct over literally everything else. So you would need to employ the strategy of sending your teammates in as brawlers while you snipe, or use a mech with a tiny CT and torso twist like mad.
A game set in the Clan Invasion, and from the perspective of Smoke Jaguar? This'll be rather interesting. I kinda hope we get to follow the events of the invasion starting on Huntress and, after a timeskip at Tukayyid, to the end where we desperately fight to the end back on Huntress. It'd be cool to see how the atmosphere and tone change from a glorious crusade to an increasingly desperate but futile fight to save your clan.
That said, I do hope they don't totally toss out the procedural stuff. Like yeah, have a handcrafted campaign, but would love a more freeroam career mode like we have in Mercenaries. Other than that very excited for this.
Im just hoping we arent looking at a bunch of cut content and wishing that half of whats in MW5 mercs is in this next game.
Give me a big open merc universe that spans at least up to the jihad, or past it. Give me the biggest sandbox mechwarrior's ever seen. Thats the game i'd love to play.
I think it's a mistake. We'll start out with clan-gear so anything else will be useless. It's a reverse power-progression, and considering the progression is the main draw of every single MechWarrior game in existence I don't see this working out well.
@Flopdoodle I think that's a bit of a fallacy. I don't think we'll start out in, say, a Timber Wolf or an Ebon Jaguar, more likely we'll start with lighter second line mechs. Still got a leg up on Inner Sphere forces, but it's not crazy. Could even see that, if they have the story go on till the annihilation of Smoke Jaguar, we'd have to take care not to use the high end stuff too early as resources and mechs are lost.
Moreover, if they do the story well, then I don't think the conventional progression we see in the merc-centric games will be missed, especially if it helps with the feeling of the changing fortunes of the clan. That's not even touching on the fact that we've had clan-focused games in the series prior. Will it be to everyone's tastes? No, but it'll be a nice bit of fresh air from all the mercenary stuff we've had till now.
@@Flopdoodle I think that lends itself better to a more goal/story oriented campaign. Pre-invasion was more of a business as usual everyday job with tech advancement. How long does the campaign in MW5 take in lore time? That campaign was about the management and advancement. This will be more about ideals and survival.
Also, with such a dedicated fanbase, they can't stray far from lore. So, we know who does what and when.
I really, really hope they don't pull a Wolf's Dragoons. I worry that this'll be like the Battlefront 2 campaign where Dice hyped up fighting for the Empire and then tosses you into the rebellion two missions in.
I'm really stoked for the increase to the story side of the game, there is so much lore in the battletech universe that never see's the light of day in the p.c games. I would love to see a much more story based approach, PGI has the core game play mechanics down, they've had plenty of time to do it and the mechs look, feel, and move really well in all their games, so now I feel it's time to put some meat on the bones of the mechwarrior universe. In MW5 mercs you have the fourth succesion war as the main campaign but its over in like a dozen missions. That was a huge event in the books and yet its over before it really gets going in the game. I'd like to see a system where you have a main mission but within that, also a set of sub missions where if you complete them it will alter the event positively or negatively in the main mission.
Birds are digigrade. So something beinf bird legged means it’s digigrade. Digi grade means you walk on your toes, so what looks like a backwards knee on a bird is actually it’s ankle, their knee is Just harder to see because it’s covered in feathers so the knee femur and hip are all just harder to visualize because the feathers on the thigh blend in with the feathers on the body.
ya. someone also did some match and explination. and funny enough "bird legged" mechs actually have there legs work more similar to arms. including the lower torso pivot rotating as the legs move forward and back.
@@MrOrdosan Yeah, in Mech terms bird legged means they are reverse jointed, not digigrade.
@@znail4675, yep. There’s mechs that are actually digitigrade (e.g.: Mongoose), and mechs that are reverse-jointed at the knee, commonly called ‘chicken-walkers’ or ‘bird-legged (e.g.: Locust).
I am hoping that a big part of the handcrafted mission structure addresses MW5's constant "horde mode" feel where every mission was a war of attrition against endless reinforcements spawning from all directions. I was disappointed that we didn't see more realistic deployments of the OpFor in MW5 where reinforcement vehicles came from logical areas like bases and airfields, turrets didn't just pop out of the ground randomly like angry mushrooms, and where it took a reasonable amount of time for the enemy to scramble their defenses as opposed to seemingly materializing out of nowhere in a constant state of readiness. Maybe this improved after launch with Mercs. I honestly don't know, as I put the game down fairly quickly. Between the "horde mode" mission structure and your AI team members being dumb as soap, the game just seemed to be a brainless meatgrinder.
Oh wow that's exactly what it is
There could be a DLC for each chosen faction fighting for the invasion Corridor or Invading. Would love to see a game entirely clan based on the competition of the Clans fighting for the Right to lead the Invasion of the Innersphere. Warden and Trueblood , Conquerer's and Kin also a Bondsmans perspective. Oh Yes.
I really hope that since it still has mw5 in the name, that you are able to merge the two games in a grand Merc campaign with clans and houses or that modders are able to port things over.
That magazine cover, "fight for freedom" - umm, you mean fight for tyranny?
All I ask is this game not have infinitely random spawned enemies. That killed mercs for me and screamed lazy programming.
Yeah hopefully this feels more like an actual hand crafted experience with satisfying enemy spawn locations.
@@nullbuttler5908 at this point i'd be happy with MW4 level "AI" and story telling. They have the mech shooty part down. Just gotta get the rest!
I said Mechwarrior 5 Clans.... but I was only joking I didn't really think they would call it that, to be honest, I couldn't care less what they called it, just want my Clans. A proper story against the clans would be really refreshing not had that since Mechwarrior 3.
Oh, you are going to play from the perspective of the Clans, damn that's not been done since Mechwarrior 2! So if you are gonna have a star then i can only imagine how many mechs are going to be thrown at you, "more barbarians for the glory of clan smoke jaguar"
Mech Warrior 4: Vengeance is also a masterpiece. The story is excellent and the Legacy of Jade Falcon was continued in Mercenaries.
I just want to take my Smoke Jaguars and smash the ass of DC.
Would be Realistic as the Star Commander would claim Superior Warfighting and genetic bloodlines his Codex would back his mouth and he would take a star of Omni's to fight a company of IS mechs. Arrogance of the clans was thier weakness and Honor bound rules of engagement that the IS exploited as a simple matter of Survival. The Clans Blitzkrieg toward terra completely caught them offguard the situation was Dire, if not for the Truce the Clans would have Reigned Supreme.
Well, separate MW5 game about clans will be cool, but i personally like to have them in MW5 Mercs as DLC. So I can Smash filthy Clanner with My Atlas in EFFECTIVE MELLE RANGE BY USING BATTLE FISTS!
all the filthy clammers be side eyeing you over that dirty dirty combat method called melee lol
Im sure a Confident Warrior in a Grey spotted Executioner is willing to squash a Freebirth!
Finally we can properly commit warcrimes as the Smoke Jaguars. I would love to see how they handle elementals. I would love to break down on the playground that is the periphery. I would love to fight against the Kuritans in brutal combat while heavily outnumbered. I would love to survive Luthien, Tukkayid, and be fighting all the way to Huntress. I would love PGI to give us a great story, because the bones, blood, and flesh of a great story is there already. Best of luck to PGI, my Vulture waits for battle patiently.
In lore most inner sphere mechwarriors tended to fight in their underwear in the cockpit all the way up to the clan invasion. Cooler jackets existed but weren't widespread. It's also the sort of tongue in cheek reason why mechwarriors are seen as being kinda horny.
Cooling vests were standard, which just has coolant tubes going around the chest and back. Without it a pilot would get cooked into unconsciousness with even slight overheating.
The Clans had full body suits with coolant capillary channels all over the entire body.
@@cykeok3525not according to most of the books I have read. Decision at Thunder Ridge and the books after it go into some detail on the matter.
@@TheRedneckGamer1979yea that’s because decisions at thunder rift takes place on the periphery where there simply is all that much tech
@@jarreddean2094Decision at thunder ridge takes place on the border of the draconis combine and steiner in the area that would later become rasselhaug
@@TheRedneckGamer1979 yes on the periphery border of Steiner and the combine
Really wish they would use MW3 soundtrack as inspiration for the music. To me, that soundtrack captured the feeling of MechWarrior perfectly: dark and dreadful because you know that each battle could be your last 😈😈😈
The only surprise is the title literally being CLANS. Which was a meme of us guessing what it would be.
I just had a thought; if we're Smoke Jags it would be nice to see / fight a cameo of the ELH mercs that you play as in MW3.
well its probably gonna be clan invasion and the guys from mw3 were wiping out the last of clan smoke jaguar after the clan invasion so it is not likely that you will encounter them.
Procedural free-roaming doesn't make sense for clan warriors anyway. They'd go and fight where they are told. I'll miss some of the company-management stuff, but I'm excited by having more tailored missions and a stronger narrative. It'll mean less replay value, but we still have Mercs for that. I still hope we someday get all the clan tech put into that sandbox though.
I do wonder if we'll get a bit of a branching mission structure like we did towards the end of some of the MW4 games.
My big one is hopefully they have learnt that we don't want the annoying lets just spam waves of junk. Hopefully they have actually learnt from all the mistakes that the community grumbled about with MW5:merc, Sounds like though we're getting something like the DLC but on a full game.
Smoke Jags? Ehhh. I was hoping we could pick from the 4 invading Clans and the reserve Clans. And they picked the grossest of them. lol
More story, better AI, and less cookie cutter procedurally generated go here stomp building. MW5 was soulless.
With the success of Armored Core 6, Gundam: The Witch of Mercury, the return of Titanfall 2 and the annoucement of Mechwarrior 5: Clans this is an awesome era for beign a Mech fan!
This time, I want to see a Live-action, CG hybrid just like the cinematics in Mech Warrior 4. That game brings a new perspective to the Battletech Universe.
Fingers crossed that Jungle map is in the game from the Teaser!. Love to traverse a Deep Jungle map with towering canopy and deep swamps waist deep on an Direwolf !.
Handcrafted sounds great! Having a ton of planets is neat and all, but with a limited pool of world types they end up feeling generic far too often. Except in some story missions, most of the cities in MW5 were bleh too. Something like 8 city blocks with huge buildings all sitting in a bowl, with tiny roads and no highways or roads going out of it. Something in my brain screams that the tiny city doesn't have anywhere near enough infrastructure to support its existence which really ruins immersion and fun for me.
As Todd Howard has shown us, however, there's handcrafted...and then there's 'handcrafted'.
if I remember correctly one of the operations in MW3 was a training facility, would be interesting if they recreate it for training missions on huntress
That smaller mech in the swamp looks like a Storm Crow.
I hope this is just a main campaign reveal, I really would like to see us being able to pick and side and a clan with career
Also if this is just a reskin of mercs imma be pissed, kinda like how ubisoft did ghost recon breakpoint it was just reskinned wildlands....
also also, a revamp of merc 5 would be cool as an after thought with all the new systems from clans :)
The article itself notes that they're moving into a more linear and hand-crafted campaign for Clans, instead of the more freeform procedurally-generated missions of MW5:Mercs.
I’m so happy they decided to go from the Clans perspective, haven’t had a chance to do so since MW2
"The Smoke Jaguar claims this world. Identify the forces that defend it so that we from the mists of space may know on whom we pounce."
Just shown my little girl 😂 and she already asking for Clan Snow Raven... omg😅
I just hope they finally lean into this game being a simulator with proper hotas/joystick controls. I don't want enemies being thrown at me in a non immersive way with ai dumber than a rock. I want to fee like a mech warrior. Hopefully they'll fix that aspect with this game but my hopes aren't high tbh. Mech 5 was to arcade like
I had an odd reaction - I got mad about attacking Luthien. I suffered greatly in defense of Luthien - how DARE they send me to crush those brave defenders!
Never thought I'd feel such visceral loyalty to the Draconis Combine, of all states... but here we are.
All Omni mech Engines are Fixed per-tabletop rules. It is written in the Battletech source books 3050 and beyond. While innersphere non-omni mechs, can swap out engines which takes a long time to do this allows IS mechs to swap weapon load tonnage which can be beneficial to mech performance, example a smaller AC2 can be upgraded to a AC 5 on a Dragon with a slower engine.
As for sound design, my intro to the Battletech universe was MechAssault and I still think it has some of the best sound design of all time.
The Vulture / Mad Dog!
Some dezgra surat spilled the beans
AFF Freebirth stain.
I hope the go the cut scene 3D animated route for the story. I've always wanted a high octane hollywood type telling of the battletech world. I get that a lot of people hate that. But I just want to see it once before I die.
I understand why PGI is going with Clan Smoke Jaguar though. When you look at Mechwarrior 2, it focused on the Clan Wolf and Jade Falcon perspective and Ghost Bear Legacy focused on the Clan Ghost Bear perspective. So it makes sense that they want to break that monotony. It should be interesting.
I'm going to bet that they are going to have some mc1 missions in there from the clanner perspective vs the is perspective
finally unnerfed clantech
I have to disagree that the expansions were less than stellar. I thought they had great story lines at least Kestrel Lancers and Rasalhague. Did they fix bugs and your less than stellar AI teammates no, but in my opinion the story kept me engaged till the end.
Agreed, I really liked KL and Rasalhague as well.
Summoners are when an Orion and griffin have a baby and that baby is given all the advantages and opportunities to do well.
Been there, done that.
Granted, that was a very long time ago, but still... First Star League era as a setting pretty please with cherry on top?
Whether it be bringing civilisation to the barbarians on the edge or fighting for your independence from those Inner Sphere tyrants, whether it's mechsim, RTS or 4X. Just give us something we haven't had yet. This universe has more potential than just revisiting the same few decades again and again and again.
The biggest thing I’m hoping for is less of the “more elite == heavier Mech” ‘progression’ metric. Keep the light stuff useful throughout the campaign.
Personally, I was hoping for a two-sided campaign for this one, featuring both a Clan and Inner Sphere story-line.
I’d even imagined a tutorial mission for the Inner Sphere side that featured a no-name unit on the periphery out on a basic training exercise, when the first Clan forces hit, and you end up fighting a desperate, no-win, holding action against a far superior force while the local government desperately tries to get a message off-world, and civilians out of harm’s way.
When your ‘Mech eventually gets destroyed (because it will), you fade to black with a radio message saying that they got word out.
Then, jump to a Great House unit, being briefed on a mission involving an unknown threat out on the periphery and loss of contact with a dozen worlds, and you’re being sent to investigate.
The New Immersion mission scenario I tend to just Use the Spider - A and go alone.
Light mechs won't become useful in a MechWarrior setting. The way MechWarrior ignores how agile mechs canonically are, making them little more than walking tanks, makes it pretty much impossible.
I can't wrap up my mind why anyone would compare Clans vs IS to "Barbarians" vs Roman Empire. BT lore is clearly medieval-inspired with direct references to the crusades, the mongolian invasion and the 100-year war.
On a different note. I just recently thought that out of all BT/MW videogaming legacy probably MW2 remake was the most obvious thing to do. If MW5:M was more or less a reimplementation of MW1, next installment should have been a heavily story-bound cool handcrafted mission experience with the Clans. And here comes the anouncement!
Doing Wolves would be just too obvious, that's why SJs.
I didn't start Mechwarrior with 2. I started with 3 where I had to play as a filthy freebirth. If I'm getting a Mechwarrior game with updated graphics playing not only as a Clan warrior but as a Smoke jaguar, the Clan I won my Bloodname with, shut up and take my money!!!!!!! Also you should know Sean, that the Jaguars have been resurrected. The Jade Falcon description sounds more like Hell's Horses.
Those filthy freebirths wiped out clan smoke jaguar. just kidding though. I am very excited to play MechWarrior 5 clans, even if I have to play as clan scum.
@@LavaDa1shi Actually they didn't. The Smoke Jaguars are back.
@@trini_stapleI know but for a long time they were gone.
I wish it would be the same as mw5 mercs with choosing your own mission, where to go, sandbox mode, and proc gen maps. So basically replayable. This will be play it once or twice and done. They should at least make a dlc or free update adding the clans to mercs
Thank goodness, I'm sick to death of the 3025 era and always being a yet another mercenary. Going with a Clan protagonist is a really bold idea, I hope they can pull it off. I look forward to war-criming some Snakes.
Considering WM3 I've a problem with being a 'Smoked' Jaguar. But besides that: awesome! 😀
Batchall bidding would/could be as easy as as bidding on the job in the current iteration of MW5: Mercs. slightly more complex or nuanced would be a boon over the current system. .02
how cool would a mission be if we could be a unit of elementals maybe trying to take out a base or assassinate an enemy leader in a HQ. taking out lighter mechs as a pack or maybe destroying a few squads of infantry and tanks
Im hopeful for this. If they can do it right, and give us a geniinely good story-driven game, it will be exactly the sort of MechWarrior game I have been missing. Here's to hoping. Also, I dont like the Smoke Jaguars, but it will be cool to get their point of view... But, do we have to watch our whole star die on Tukayyid? Lol
@36:00 the "issue" about multiple models for the same weapon system on different mechs ... it's not just that MWO solved that and has had the high-poly models for almost a decade, MW4 Mercenaries had that solved over TWO decades ago.
Bring Back the Snarky Drill Instructor from Mechwarrior 2.
Omfg clans! Thank Kerensky! The time to liberate the inner sphere and refound the glorious star League is coming
Hand crafted missions? Hell yeah!
I like they go with the Clan perspective and have a story driven game instead of the open Merc style.
What I am worried about is that the Clan way of life will hardly be part of the gameplay. When I read that he went in to kill the pirates without the Smoke Kittens usual bravado or Batchall...also I think in case of pirates SJ might just roll over them because its beneath them to even care enough to issue a batchall.
Still later on I hope to see that players have to do a form of batchall and that unhonorable behavior will be punished. Maybe will less repaired mechs or you only get second line mechs.
Yeah, can have some sort of requisition points (totally not money lol) that you gain through honorable conduct, following zellbrigen.
Or take bondsmen to get new or replace lost warriors
@@MadSpaceWolfDiary Wow a mechanic to take powerful enemies as bondsmen would be pretty cool in a game with Clan vs Clan warfare.
As a game mechanic, the ability to have the most powerful enemies fight alongside you could be based on your Honor rating; the more closely you adhere to honorable clan rules of engagement, the higher your rating, and the more willing bondsmen will be to join your unit.
I'm hoping that this brings mw4 vibes in terms of memorable lines and missions
If we're finally getting the Clans, will we be getting the Com Guards sometime?
Comstar like the Deep state media manipulates news and communications to further thier own agenda.
Hmm, I wonder if (and if so, how) they'll incorporate Zellbringen? Because that could get both interesting and fun.
OMFG!!! YES!! Finally we get another MW title from the clan PoV!! I'm so fucking happy I don't even care it's making me play as a smoked kitty! Fucking A!
I would like to see it using unreal engine 5 now. Then huge landscapes with nanite and lumen vs raytracing would be possible.
One thing I will say about Mech 5 mercenaries. Was repeatability... I sunk 1000s of hours into that game. Mods kept it alive. Single player stories tend to make you beat the game and are done with it. So many games I can think of did this. Don't get me wrong I love the idea. I am a huge star wars fan. Yet all the star wars games in recent years I played for 2 weeks beat the game and havent been back. Mods would help with replay ability. But the replayability came from the openness of the game map. Choosing your faction building up your mech company. Lets see where this goes.
playing as Smoked Jaguar i hope we get to play the Battle of Tukayyid
Wow... What a... Surprise... Who could have seen THIS coming?... (Dripping with sarcasm.) Hey, Smoke Jaguars!... Remember when You HAD a Clan? LOL!!!!
Wait, a Smoke Jaguar game? This might explain why we were able to get the Stone Rhino in MWO - the Stone Rhino is a Smoke Jaguar 'mech.
That's kind of the pattern, it seems. MWO gets a lot of new content (Legends aside) made for MechWarrior 5.
Be cool if they made it so you can play as any one of the clans during the invasion. would make it more replayable if they did. that way there could be different missions depending on what clan you play.
The only thing missing from mw5 (aside from a more robust mechlab) was content. As long as they are smart enough to build on what they have, instead of mostly starting over, it'll be great.
Cooling suits were a thing, but considered LosTech in the IS by the second or third succession war. I think they started to make a comeback after the Clan invasion because, as with so many other bits of LosTech, the clans still had cooling suits and used them regularly. So the suit thing really doesn't phase me much. Interesting teaser for this game. Not sure how I feel about a more limited scope to the game compared to MW5:Mercs, but it should be fun to get clan tech out there.
HOnestly its tiring how long taking to advance the eras.
One boon for the developers that using the Clans as the player faction grants is that unlike Mercs, you'll be a part of a military hierarchy, so you have the justification of your characters ending up in a particular place because whoever is above them in the hierarchy said 'you're going here and doing this thing now'. And this has a knock-on effect in that because you don't have to deal with the sandbox, you can craft maps and progression with more fidelity and structure than you could if you have to generate a larger number of worlds to insure your player always has options available to them.
That alone makes me think that it will be a more engaging campaign than what has been reported with MechWarrior 5 (at least in the case of the base campaign).
Holy crap this the 5 trillionth time this same story has been retold since I first played MW2 Dos in 97🤦🏽♂
A Ghost Bear's Legacy expansion pack with a Wolves On The Border linked closeout from a Clan recon perspective would have been a more fitting next step instead of just going straight Blood Of Kerensky with it...
Clan Invasion was the BEST thing to happen in the lore, modeling them after the Mongol Hordes with the addition of hybrid tribal trial ideology made the entire move euphoric in a sense, I miss that feeling I had battling in a trial of position for the first time😎😍
There's a steam store page now for it too
Yes clicked on my Wishlist
Ive just been going through MW5 for the first time. Its great to see the game is still lively!
Piranha seems to be juggling quite a few projects at the moment, MWO, Mech 5 with its DLCs, the recently announced DCHeroesUnited from their Twitter reveal, and now, the newly announced Clans. It makes me´think whether they have the manpower and resources to successfully bring Clans to fruition alongside their other endeavors especially this DC thing, could you ask about it if you make a podcast with Russ?
Can't wait for clans. I would like to know details on how you get needs and weapons do you need money or are you supplied etc
Aw man, I will miss my headcannon (because of MW5) that emoting is LosTech…
I too wish to have genetic alterations to be able to count up to 5...
I will say some handcrafted will be good but don't put me on a rail if possible. I really would want more of a merger of Mercs and Clans where I can fly around from one side or the other. Of course depending on where this story line ends could be what Mechwarrior 6 begins and get that massive scale war we would want to be apart of, at least that is my hope. As like everyone on this channel will for sure be watching out for this in the future.
Stormcrow/Ryoken is what I see on the last page in front of the Timberwolf.
I absolutely love that we are being clans stomping on Inner Sphere. While my time in the Inner Sphere makes me appreciate the Inner Sphere side of things, and extremely flawed mechs, I really love the clans.
Love the 5 player co-op. Though it'll be hard to have a full party of people at that point. It was kinda funny how some of them got overwhelmed by options in MW5: Mercs, so I am curious how they and more newer people will handle omnipods. I'm all for more customization. A bunch of my friends once they stop panicking, start to slowly realize they wish they had even more options to get fully invested in the game. Though it's hard to get everyone to commit to getting mods for YAML (though co-op unlocked was just so mandatory that it got everyone's foot in the door).
Honestly hard to say much else based on the information given. I'm just really glad to hear everything so far.
At 44:00 pretty sure that's just the Warhawk. Warhawk and Dire Wolf look extremely similar from the back anyways, but also kinda expecting both in this game since common and smoke jaguar themed. Also I do hope they are slightly changing the Timber Wolf model a bit. I do prefer clans looking slim/sleek with Warhawk/Dire Wolf being notable exceptions because of their absurd firepower they carry which gives new players the "Oh dang that's a big boy!" panic.
As for the end question "what clan mechs do you want to see?"
First of all, the mechs my friends will want to play the game for, but I want to see them alongside me having a good time:
Rifleman IIC, Nova, Super Nova: Rifleman IIC was the first mech I piloted, and it was my original favorite to kid me because of the big barrels (until I used Mad Dog in wolf's first mission and fell in love with missiles). Now my best friend is addicted to laser boats that instantly melt an enemy mech (even if he overheats). Doing 4 large lasers on the Rifleman 4D and Annihilator, so I want these in the game for him at least. I love laser boats as well!
Timber Wolf & Mad Dog: We already know they are in, but everyone new/casual loves LRMs with the exception of my best friend. Though, when we get to harder missions, they tend to shy away from LRMs because they can't finish off enemies. Mad Dog used to be my favorite, but the Inner Sphere has changed how I view mechs a lot, so it's not so clear what my favorite is now.
Dire Wolf: Already in, but I've always love the "final boss" atmosphere of the mech. Also one of my friends prefers AC5s over 10s and 20s, and they like large lasers, and he most definitely loves being the largest thing on the field. Perfect for him. Also kinda would like the Blood Asp since he also has nostalgia from Mech Assault (though he would want Ragnarok, and I dunno if that's even a thing that could be added). Though those will probably be too late in the timeline.
Piranha, Hunchback IIC: I just want to see my friend's reactions if they see them in game :3
As for piloting myself:
Firemoth, Jenner IIC, Viper, Shadow Cat: Speed with good looks! Also Firemoth, Jenner IIC, and Mad Dog were the trio of that were my favorites towards the end of MW2 and I want more of that fun. We'll see if the Fire Moth can be added this time around. I'm kind of expecting the main protagonist's mech to start out with a Shadow Cat since we're Smoke Jag.
Adder - Fire support for my big boys!
Cougar - Mini Mad Dog that looks great! Little too late in the timeline probably though
Huntsman - Just the everything about the mech and how it's put together. Nothing stands out, I just really like it.
Ebon Jaguar - Smoke Jaguar themed campaign has to have it. Also at one point in time I fell in love with the looks of it, but I never found a build I liked with it. But my time with MW5 Mercs might have changed that.
Stone Rhino - Hard to know whether I prefer the Stone Rhino or Super Nova as my preferred Clan Assault based on looks.
Yes, the IS was a post Apocalyptic Galaxy that has under gone 4 relentless and brutal wars. Nuked cities massive loss of life. So many technicians and Engineers killed Lostech became a reality.
Even though I am not a Clanner and the Smoke Jags are my least favorite invasion clan, I am so looking forward to this game! More story, hopefully better characters and a batchall system, this could sweeten things so much!
If they dont use clan lingo when giving commands to the squad such as aff and neg i will be very disappointed
Aff= Yes Agree respond Neg= No Disagree no response. Quiaff ??!
From that title it seems it'll be from the perspective of fighting against the clans, however they have said it would be playing as clan smoke jaguar, so is it both?
Oh I can't wait for a storyline of the invasion of the Inn-
>playing as the cough cats
Well, at least we'll have Clan tech...
Good move. Looking forward to it. Your trial for Position approaches. Train hard Sibkin.
I would love to see some of the more obscure Clan 'Mechs featured - even if only due to Story reasons. Like for example: Your Cluster just got driven back from a big battle and the material losses force you and your Star to utilize older, second-line designs. Always wanted to pilot a Clan Woodsman or contemporary model.
Like the hells horses totem mech. The quad.
If they allowed different endings like me crushing Luthien at the end, this would be my dream game.
to be fair to the person writting that select all and attack is pretty accurate for smoke jaguar
I just want smarter or more adjustable ai, or the ability to command individual mechs on the map. The only viable strategy for me with MW5 was to clumsily brawl or snipe. Many strategies like, having quick lights harrass the enemy (without just getting instantly killed) dont function well.
I bet digital motion capture is going to cost PGI an arm and a leg
I have a feeling this game is going to end with *Objective: Survive*
Why we got the Stone Rhino.... It's the Smoke Jag Totem 'Mech. Needed it for the MW5: Clans.
Do you have a recommended mod list? I noticed your videos on mods are pretty old. This video got me hyped to dive back in.
Not thrilled about them not having a career mode that merged with the campaigns. These handcrafted missions would have to be good enough to offset the loss of that feature.
"Jaguars don't make it in the long run" You could say clan Jaguar gets smoked ?
I don't like MWO or MW5 but maybe this one will be decent ?
I'd love to see a modern MechCommander.
How can the author call himself a warrior of Clan Smoke Jaguar when his omnimech was damaged by space peasants??
they better have more procedural levels when you are just going planet to planet. regular missions 100% make them hand crafted but I love doing a mount and blade style campaign with my mercenary company just going across the universe seeing new places all the time
"Didn't intend to get out there and was taken down" no thats called attempting to Streisand effect it to drum up attention since Mechwarrior / Battletech is a niche franchise. Having a "leak" and having info pulled is more likely to get people to pay attention and talk about it. Because as of right now it already has an entry on steam now.
