Which Scene in Evil Dead made your skin crawl the most?!
The tree scene
Oh shit didnt realise this was the remake thats the scene from the original
Wasn't so keen on this one
when Olivia was cutting her face in the bathroom that shi was nasty
The pins in Eric's face, his entire death scene is the worst
The bathroom scene
I remember going into the theater fully prepared to hate this movie, just like most of the other remakes of the 2000s and left the theater absolutely loving it. Place it up there with the three best remakes of the 80s, though I believe nothing will ever top The Thing for the number one spot for me.
I'm with ya I also had the same thought with fright night
The evil dead trilogy is my favorite trilogy of all time and I was the same way. I went into it wanting to hate it so bad but I loved it. They definitely did it justice!
We saw Evil Dead and A Nightmare on Elm street together.
@@jaymorrison4886 I completely forget about the Fright Night but I think I enjoyed it. Think I gonna see who's streaming it and watch it again.
I agree! I went into this movie with alot of trepidation but walked out so happy
The best thing about this movie is that it's pretty much entirely practical effects. They went to a lot of effort to avoid cheap CGI blood and gore that you see in other modern horror. And they are MASTERFUL.
Right, they only used CGI to hide the blood tubes.
I have seen a lot of gory movies so they don't affect me anymore, but this Evil Dead made even me nauseous.
Didn't the director get taught how to do the Sam Raimi camera swoosh and effects that he does. I know he used it alot to pay homage to the original
the only downside is the director felt the need to basically torture the lead actress in this film. absolutely despise when directors go that far, but yeah the movie is incredible. one of the best horror movies of all time imo
@@loen1z boo hoo they aren't forced to do the movie so ur point is irrelevant.
Jane Levy's performance in this was incredible. When she is sitting on the bed talking to David about something being in the room, creeps me out every time I see it. Also like how all the characters names spell out the word demon. David...Eric...Mia...Olivia... Natalie
Yep, I actually couldn't take her face off my fucking head for weeks... Absolutely terrifying!
She's phenomenal! I really wish she was in a lot more projects; she hasn't gotten the recognition she deserves, honestly
Agreed, they made the right call casting her.
her acting is what made this movie as great as it was! don't get me wrong, it was visually everything we could want and more but if someone less talented than her played mia it would not have been as good, she brought the emotion and heart to it (especially since she and arguably the actress who played olivia were far better actors than the rest imo, especially the brother)
@@loen1z agree 💯
A fun detail: The names' first letters spell "DEMON".
David, Eric, Mia, Olivia, Natalie.
Yup
That sounds like a comic book series
One thing I love about this remake, aside from it being a great remake, is how it tells a good dark story about drug addiction. Saw it during a trip one time and it was actually very emotional when you see the underlying message playing out through the whole movie.
During a TRIP??????
@@klarfaerie yes you know what kind of trip I’m talking about. Made the movie way more scarier.
This movie is not a remake, it's literally a continuation of the evil dead franchise. Did anybody notice that Ash's car was still there all these years later.
@@mjareacts2731 there's a speculation that the movies and the tv show takes place in the same world, their story's just not connected. Same goes to the new movie that's coming out in April, the remake and the new movie both feature a different looking Necronomicon, in the original trilogy and the ash vs evil dead show use the same Nceronomicon with a face on the cover (that also explained why the new deadites have yellow eyes instead of full white eyes like in the originals and the tv show)
the old car is just a callback, it is a remake after all. Same goes to the magnifying glass necklace, that's also in the original movie
They cranked the gore levels to 11 on this one. Honestly, one of my favourite remakes!
Evil dead rise is going to be even more gory !!!
It isn’t even that gory
You mean the gore was cranked up to beyond 1000.
That scene where that tree possess Maya is insane. That scream still give me goosebumps. Also, when Maya is smiling when the lady is cutting off her arm.... crazy good movie.
That tree is raping her.
So cool that you watched the Unrated Version. It's my favorite cut of the movie.
Jane Levy is so good in this!
Fun fact: The five main characters in this movie are David, Eric, Mia, Olivia, and Natalie. Together, their first initials spell out "Demon".
Holy shit
Jane Levy gave one of the best performances ive ever watched in a horror film. This ranks right behind evil dead 2 as my favorite in the series and is a masterclass in how you reboot a horror franchise. It pays homage to the og while being completely fresh.
I went to the theaters to see this and loved every second of it. Such a big evil dead fan, I love it all. Yall have to check out the series now, it's soo good and funny lol
They had so much fun with the practical effects in this movie. A lot of effort went into them. Also a lot of great really simple stuff too. The needle being pulled off out of the eyelid is horrible and it was just a blunt needle and a tiny bit of liquid latex. He slid his fingers down the needle and gripped at the end to pull it away and pull the stretchy latex with it.
Practical effects are so much better than shitty CGI...
@@Thrashificeand good cgi can be better than shitty practical effects lol
since we're talking raimi, "drag me to hell" would be such a treat! this movie is so good it still makes me unconfortable watching it. this reaction was great lmao
The goat scene always cracks with up
The Hungarian in that movie is hilariously bad
I love this movie, one of the best remakes ever made.
I think that this remake is scarier than the original movie. Frankly, I have never seen a movie as bloody as this one, so imagine how traumatized I was while trying to fall asleep because of this film haha.
Traumatized from a movie 😂
I loved this remake a lot, but I totally understand that the franchise isn't for everyone. So thanks for doing this. Also, I hope Mrs Movies knows how much we appreciate her watching these horror films even though she's not really a fan. Her reactions are so much fun to watch.
The creator of evil dead recently confirmed that there are multiple necronomicon and this is the second book. So excited for the evil dead rise.
She's going to find Amityville remake a lot less vile after this one 😆
You absolutely must watch the Ash vs Evil Dead series^^
That one shot of the Mrs looking on in total disgust while cowboy is grinning his ass off is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
This movie is a good example of how to do a remake. But also works really well as the latest addition to the franchise IMO.
I believe I have to agree with you two when that one woman cuts up her face is the main one for me.
And Mia's face when she's peeking out of that fraking bsmt still creeps me out
What an amazing score this movie has. Kudos to Roque Baños.
El score es hermoso igual que la fotografía
I've been waiting for this reaction for two weeks and it's been totally worth it. I really like this movie, it's so dark, bloody and gorey. Practical effects for ever! :D
I love how she's worried about releasing something from that book and he's like here demons 🤣
I want to see the two of you be part of a paranormal investigation, I would love to see that
I love this movie. I've always had a thing for Jane Levy and the fact that she's in a horror movie based on an 80s classic makes it all the more watchable.
The most iconic part of this movie is definitely the ending shot with the chainsaw in the head and the amount of blood. Fuckin awesome 🔥
Classic, I was rolling when the Necronamicon brought out in the beginning.
Fun story, years ago I had an alcohol problem, where I would drink for days on end. I would eventually sober up and that was when the horrific "nightmares" would start. In retrospective I was likely experiencing the effects of Delerium Tremens (DTs). Anyhow, I'd be in a twilight state (not quite awake or asleep) and I'd start dreaming/hallucinating about the most violent, awful things. It would start with broken glass, where I'd be walking across broken glass, spitting glass up, or pulling it out of my skin. I'd then have some mind altering visions. In one, there were these hell dogs that looked completely unnatural. They were about regular size, but they would come running after me, with blazing red eyes and a feeling of being both organic and machine. Another time, I was on this massive train, clambering over the train cars trying to escape this almost cliche dark haired girl with razors for teeth, and glowing red eyes. I'd be unable to wake myself up fully, and time would become distorted. These visions would feel like they lasted a lifetime, when in reality they were a few minutes at most. I can not express how real these horrible nightmares would feel, and the overwhelming sense of evil is impossible to describe. While Heroin and booze are obviously very different drugs, I can relate entirely to this film. On a positive note, these episodes of psychosis allowed me to quit drinking: My mind and soul couldn't handle these experiences any longer.
Alcohol is no joke at all when quitting if you're a true full blown alcoholic. In fact it can kill you if you cold turkey, which I'm sure you know. Only that and Benzos can. And while Heroin withdrawals feel like you're dying, sometimes you actually are with Alcohol. I give you alot of credit.
This film is my second-favorite in the series, with the original film still retaining the top spot. I can find some enjoyment in the splatstick of Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness (though I'd choose Return of the Living Dead over both of them if I'm in the mood for such a film), but when I think of The Evil Dead, I think of a film that grossed me out and made my skin crawl the first time I saw it. The remake comes closest to recapturing that experience.
I like the little skit at the beginning.
same
Fun Fact: There was talk of setting up a crossover between Ash and Mia. One concept was that they would build up by giving Ash his separate film, but his would be the Army of Darkness 2 and Mia would carry on with own Evil Dead 2 but the crossover was set as Evil Dead 3. But that plan got scrapped due to sales for this one. And instead, we got Ash vs Evil Dead.
There were plans to make a series of sequals where Ash would've eventually shown up but the woman that played Mia didn't want to sign on. This was still a great one off and the show is super fun! Keep it spooky!
Edit: and the most skin crawl inducing scene is Olivia cutting her face :)
Defiantly one of the best remakes! I have the hardest time watching the tongue and box cutter scene.
Probably my favorite horror movie of the last 25 years. You both had me laughing hard af. Thank you so much I needed this today.😊
FINALLY I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET YOU GUYS TO REACT TO THIS MOVIE PROBABLY FROM ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I'M GLAD YOU FINALLY TUNED IN
Mrs.Movies being totally unhinged are my favorite type of reactions. Always hilarious.
10:27 when I saw this in theaters, my friend jumped so hard at this that his popcorn went flying lol
The Mia character plays every traditional role in a classic horror movie: the first victim, an evil monster, the final girl, and the hero taking down the big baddie at the end.
This is literally my standard for what a horror movie should be 🍿
💯%
this movie didnt have that many jumpscares
14:15 "Where is Bruce when you need him?"
I'm pretty sure the only CGI in the movie was on certain parts they added in extra digital fire, like when they lit the cabin on fire the fireball wasn't as big as they hoped so they added in extra CG fire, or they used CGI to erase equipment used to make the practical effects from shots. That's it. I remember as soon as it starts raining blood I thought 'Okay, this movie is awesome!' lol
One of the best remakes I've ever seen. It's a classic in it's own right.
Jane Levy killed in this remake, was very good
Her eyes were so wide the whole time she was terrified great reaction haha
I got so excited for this video, i went through all the other reaction videos for this movie while waiting.
This is the movie the original would have wanted to be, but it was severely limited by a low budget and the special effects of its era, so it went for a more comedic approach and did not take itself too seriously, which made the bad effects seem kinda adorable instead of just bad. This movie here did not have these limitations, so they went all in with a more sinister and serious approach. Personally I really enjoyed it, hard to make me feel uneasy, but this one definitely accomplished it.
The end of this movie is still one of the most metal things I've ever seen in my life.
The original intention was to have this and Ash vs. Evil Dead crossover and have Ash and Mia go on a Deadite hunting adventure, but I think the show's ratings and Evil Dead's box office didn't justify it. Evil Dead Rise has a perfect home on HBO Max and I can imagine it will tie the two together in some way. Or have Ash show up at the very least.
You guys are the funniest reaction couple as of yet XD Love your cute bickering every time 😁
Thanks 😆
Fun Fact: The driver was originally supposed to be Ash, but Mia was gonna turn and Ash would say his signature Groovy line and prepare for battle.
Well at least we get an after-credits scene of him saying “Groovy”
I loved this movie. A fantastic remake in a genre that’s absolutely plagued with trash remakes.
It’s as gory as the original, it’s as creepy as the original. 11/10
This movie knocked it out of the park IMO. It removed the campy feeling and just made it disturbing. Best gruesome moment was def the girl cutting off her own face. The sound alone places the image in your head. I could have sworn that Mia's name was also Ash in this. But I obviously am wrong. I've only seen is on release too.
Oh, and that was a fantastic intro.
I really hope they keep it going as horror, not going towards comedy as the originals, no matter how great the originals are. We need more quality horror like this movie!
Hey, Mr. and Mrs.! I was never a fan of Raimi's splatstick "Evil Dead" trilogy but this stone-cold sober re-make has got to be one of the best retellings ever!
The audience was screaming in my auditorium!
Director Fede Alvarez, who also did the phenomenal "Don't Breathe", will be directing the next Alien film!
You sir have absolutely no taste whatsoever.
Incredible remake. And I think it feels like what Raimi wanted out of the original film. Just an exhausting experience in horror. Also Jane Levy’s performance is EPIC in this film.
Having Mia going through withdrawals while the demonic oppression happened was an awesome touch. The only 'joke' in the movie was he kept going to the duct tape for bandages which is kind of funny.
To this day I imagine a hidden cellar trapdoor undiscovered in every house. That demon looking out of it is nightmare fuel for me.
this movie is an amazing remake. Scared the shit out of me the first time
I was so glad that I saw this one in theaters 😆 Great reaction! Love watching your videos!
That meme of a "sickos" staring from the window is defiantly made about this movie. Those sickos are us.
How dare you NOT watch Peter Jackson's King Kong for Re-May-ke Month?!
Definitely in the top tier of horror remakes.
"It's bound in human flesh. You can see the freckles."
Easily the best remake of an horror in recent history! It's not The Evil Dead, and I'm happy it didn't try do be, as much as many complain about this very thing. Remakes should always try to be their own thing, and this certainly did that and succeed IMO. If you want a carbon coby of the orginal, just watch the original? I'll always love the original, and Evil Dead 2 especially, but this remake will stand with some of my favorite horror movies of all time, just for widely different reasons. I absolutely adore the serious take on the story, but also the switcheroo at the end with Mia (a character I liked/sympathized with from the beginning) becoming the hero/survivor and overcoming LITERAL demons on top of her own.
My only gripe is with the glaring plothole of the "5 souls" needed for the demon to be brought into this world not ever adding up, especially considering they introduced the idea that a person's soul could be cleansed after death, which wrote them into a corner and didn't have to do... Olivia's body was burnt, Natalie's body was dismembered and Mia was buried and revived in extremis. David died while not possessed and Eric burned alive in the house. According to the "rules", not a single soul got taken... Oh well!
BTW, their name spells out DEMON (David, Eric, Mia, Olivia, Natalie). Just an interesting factoid easily missable.
"Its just my necronomicon ex mortis"
I always wondered what the little things were she snacks on in the videos :)
So many shots of the two of you silently looking at each other. One of the better remakes out there
I never knew there was a remake! So I'll be watching this one with you for the first time.
The charm of the original was that it was made by a bunch of friends barely out of college with a tiny budget and huge stylistic flair and ambition. The remake is basically just torture porn.
Porn has only sex, this had a story not torture porn.
We all agree that we love to see you suffer, when you cover your eyes, scream, jump, get scared and curse, we are sorry for the inconvenience but we really appreciate you doing it for us, I love you! ❤️🤟
I waited for this moment for almost a year. lol awesome reaction guys. Definitely still my favorite movie. 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
One of the best remakes of the past 20-30 years
This is one of the best remakes ever!
Yeah, Raimi and company were like, “Someone will eventually remake this. It might as well be us.” And they fucking NAILED it, of course, and Fede Alvarez was a terrific choice to direct it.
I enjoyed “Evil Dead Rise”, it has excellent cinematography, incredible gore and acting and nice franchise callbacks, and it’s a total blast, I just think I overhyped it to myself, and went in thinking it’d be scarier.
So as of right now, I think this film is better than “Evil Dead Rise”.
Universal Studios Orlando did an awesome haunted house based on this at Halloween Horror Nights the year this came out.
"Its just a Necronomicon"
Kinda got me
Great reaction! Mrs. Movies deserves a prize after watching that movie! I love this channel.
When Mrs. Movies said, “what is that sound?” thunder started to rumble outside
Tree thing has put deep scar in mind in her throughout whole series 😂 like everytime there's tree, aha
One of the best reboots ever. They did it in such a way that it could almost be considered a spin off instead of a "remake"
"he just deals with demons everyday teachIng high school" AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
"Chin guy" lol
That thing probably wouldn't cut through bone in real life anyway.
To me this is one of the best horror remakes. I really enjoyed it the first time I watched it.
12:31 - If there ever was a moment for a slow replay, this was it.
"it's just a necronomicon" lmfao
It’s a shame we live in a time when a man can’t even play with his Necronomicon in peace. 😆
That intro.. you made me laugh 😂 have seen almost all of your reactions and love them all. Thank you for keep making them (and i'm following you guys on the social medias 😁👍🏼)
Next up for the Mrs is Don't Breathe. The next film made by the same director Fede Alvarez and star Jane Levy
The intro got be cracking up from the get go. Love your channel
I remember doing my English presentation in Grade 10 about this movie. I really loved it.
The scene when Mia straight up shoved the chainsaw in the demons mouth towards the ending, I was like well, they really just went there and showed it.
I can't believe they buried a second cameraman for this movie. The Evil Dead franchise is truly the purest form of cinema.
Never knew it existed. These girls are like the Exorcists big sisters.
the remake/reboot whatever it techinally is is amazing
I went to the movies and saw this when it came out. What an experience!
Even though I've seen this movie a couple times it was so terrifying it still freaks me out rewatching this.
Wish I could give more than 1 like for this reaction, couldn't stop laughing the whole time.
Loved the missus's reaction. I like this film, especially if I just pretend there's a 4 after the title.
