This seems a small detail, in light of the impressive design and sense of fun this video presents - but I must say that I also enjoyed your method of presentation. Your gestures do a great job of drawing attention to various features, and feel like watching a stage illusionist's act; and the scientific summation at the end was very informative. As a commuter-cyclist and avid camper myself, it makes me consider the possibilities of a few projects of my own. Thank you for the inspiration!
Work-flow was efficient as hell... When he built back the 2 wheels, he picked up both, knowing that he can build in just one to begin with... He leaned the 2nd against the wall, so that he doesn´t have to bend over till the ground a 2nd time for that 2nd wheel. In that age, and also in hard manual labours, this way of thinking can really save your lower back...

As for a Bériault camper in the Andes, you have to consider that it weighs 27 kg (60 lbs) empty. It would be very hard to climb those hills without electric assist. But if you have electric assist you have to find a way of charging your battery every night. Best regards.

Hi Robert, Great video. My dad is going to be building a luxury camping e-bike trailer that he wants to take off road in the Baja region of Mexico. Your trailer was the first of any sort of solar ebike trailer we found. Great work.
If you are designing a camper for off road you have the luxury of width, which can make it far more comfortable. I have to live within 23 1/2 inches of width. Of course, it would not be possible without the lateral extension and the vestibule, which increase elbow room.
Rough roads and sidewalks do shake the trailer a lot. However, none of my equipment, nor the trailer itself got damaged. This includes my CPAP machine, which is buried into my sleeping bag. Although I built the trailer using butt joints, it seems to stand up. I used two three-inch number six screws in each transverse piece, pre-drilling beforehand.

This is great and you are an inspiration to not only cancer survivors, but to seniors as well. I wish my father was as fit as you. I wish you good lunch and recommend having an alternate packable tent.
Or you could pack a small tent... The high profile, high visibility and unecessarily complicated construction make this a VERY odd option for all but a few cyclists.
That's extraordinary. It often happened in the past that the same invention was thought of by more than one person at a time. But 55 years! And nobody caught on!
mech5 fab No, what he has is an opinion. Having tried pretty much every style of camping you could think of I can see the merits and the flaws of this setup. No setup is perfect and, clearly, it is not for everybody. I’ll tell you there are times I’ve been bike packing with a tent and wished I had camper and there are times I had a camper (borrowed) and wished I had my hammock. As I said - no setup is perfect but to rag on what works for someone is a *lack* of insight.
This would be an abosolutely awesome idea to provide a temporary shelter for Canada's homeless. A house they can take with them wherever they go, set up easily and have storage for their belongings.
I like the concept but at the end of the day it's crap because it takes all day to set up I'm not trying to set my place up all day this is why I'm glad I live in my van I set up my van DIY style much faster much quicker get to your spot stop rest that's it
@@skapunkoialternativeliving6522 I think he may have meant.. your own personal ways of doing things when he said "original". If he likes to bike places, the van wouldn't be reasonable to him. Looks like an approximate 10 minute setup. Some people enjoy the set-up and take down.

Thank you for your kind words. Actually, most people have been very nice to me. Yes, many have pointed out that they prefer a tent, but that's ok. They're welcome to voice their opinion. Presently I fell very good and I'm working on a solar camper that would make me fully independent from the electrical grid. Best regards Robert
Very clever design. I want to make a bicycamper but I would prefer it be as durable as possible. I know durability will mean more weight though. Anyway it’s clear you’ve spent many hours improving your design, and it came out wonderfully, well done sir
Pretty cool. 🙂🧡 Were your tires locked? I noticed they were sitting on the ground by that pull -out, just a suggestion, put tires in the vestibul area, out of sight from public.

I’ll tell you there are times I’ve been bike packing with a tent and wished I had camper and there are times I had a camper (borrowed) and wished I had my hammock.
As I said - no setup is perfect but to rag on what works for someone is a *lack* of insight.
😂
Setup probably would have gone faster if he hadn't been demonstrating it for the camera.
This would be an abosolutely awesome idea to provide a temporary shelter for Canada's homeless. A house they can take with them wherever they go, set up easily and have storage for their belongings.
Would be chilly in the winter!
I like the concept but at the end of the day it's crap because it takes all day to set up I'm not trying to set my place up all day this is why I'm glad I live in my van I set up my van DIY style much faster much quicker get to your spot stop rest that's it
Looks like you have original ideas. Keep it up!
@@RobertBeriault753 that's not original idea. The concept looks good it takes all day to set it up I'm not trying to be out there all day but bullcrap
ska would need all day because he is limited in his mental abilities. I'm sure he lives in a van down by the river.
@@skapunkoialternativeliving6522 I think he may have meant.. your own personal ways of doing things when he said "original". If he likes to bike places, the van wouldn't be reasonable to him. Looks like an approximate 10 minute setup. Some people enjoy the set-up and take down.
if you are looking for a bicycle camper design look at Paul Elkins' video
I love it especially because you use every space to your advantage
That's part of the charm.
You'll be all day with that crap
ska punk OI! alternative living Let's see you build something better ?
@@RareGem369 yes I kind of feel better you moron I built a high top on my van already that I live in explain that to me idiot
@@RareGem369 I still stand by what I say it's a stupid idea it's been all day messing with that crap
@@skapunkoialternativeliving6522, why do you have to be such a arrogant Jerk!?
@@The-GreenHornet what have to tell the truth my friend the truth is a truth it is a crappy video you can't live in that sociable it's good for homeless guy yes but that's it I know the truth hurts that's life..
I resume all this in one Word..GREAT..Congratulations
Great is a nice word. Thank you.
Great design, and thanks for uploading. RUclips at its best, where people can share their gifts differing. I neither bike nor camp, but still loved this, especially when you explain the process while being filmed from behind biking on a gorgeous day. Best wishes.
Glad you stumbled across my video and found something in it to enjoy.
Hello Robert. How are you? Just found your trailer. This is the best idea I've seen of bike trailers. It would be fun to have a plan for building one. I wish we had bike trails like the ones in France and Germany. I live in Wyoming. No bears in Europe as far as I know😂
Thank you for writing. If you decide you want the plans, the following link tells how to obtain them: www.robertberiault.com/copy-of-construction-plans

Wow very impressive. Extremely well thought out and executed. Well done sir

Wow! So much storage as well. 😳😁👍
Everything but the kitchen sink.
This Is So Adorable Great Job😂❤
Thanks for the nice compliment.
Very impressive. The creator of this bike camper thought of everything.
Still trying to figure out how to add a jacuzzi.
Robert Beriault LOL.. given enough time, you would be the 1 to figure it out!
what a great idea!!! so compact but entails everything you would need!! love it!!!!🤔💕
Everything but YOU!
:-)
Robert Beriault so sweet, if I weren't married I would love to meet you!!!🤗😄
This is so wonderful it’s like a dream come true for me
I could say the same. Thanks for your positive comment.

That's nice of you.
So many things to appreciate about this design!
Glad you like it!
Very; very creative. It's very practical. Good for an emergency stay
Thank you for your interest.
What a great story and best wishes in your travels! This is the coolest camper I've ever seen!
Thank you, Julie
TO you my good sir i give many props, im very impressed with your ingenuity. coroplast slide outs for something so small indeed does make for greater room. think you are the first one here in the great world of youtube who has dome some a thing. Well done, i look forward to seeing what new and better versions you come up with in the future.
Thanks for the compliment
Brilliant, Robert! Very glad I stumbled upon this video. As someone who loves to bike but is riddled with of health issues, I find this inspiring. Good luck with your future trips & cant wait to see more content. Cheers!
The wonderful thing about the Internet is how we can accidentally find things that are within our sphere of interests. Glad you found me. Wish you best of luck with your health issues.
I really like this little camper I'm even thinking of doing my own camper like this well done to this man
Glad yo like it. Thanks.
Great job, Robert. Amazing little camper.
Thank you, Mike.
That is an absolutely wonderful, amazingly clever unit. Thank you for sharing your creativity
Thank you! Cheers!
Desde Argentina, me encantó. Lo felicito por su ingenio y su actitud!
Muy gratias
You go, Uncle Junior!! Very innovative. I commend your independent spirit.
The camper helps me to ignore my years. I hope to do this into my 80s.
I see no reason that you can't. Congrats on your invention! Best Wishes.
Amazing sir. This is a perfect camper. Convenient & light weight. Waiting for your next additions in it... Regards & respect from Pakistan.
Maybe a garage for the bike?
This is great and very inspiring. Greetings from England
Thanks from Canada 😉
Me encanta. Lo más práctico es llevar todo en cajas y que se expanda la casita. Que bonita.
Me alegra que te guste
Robert! Congrats my man! That thing is awesome! Great job my friend! 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Robert Beriault sure thing! Have a good day
Well thought out, amazing creativity.
Thank you! Cheers!
very ingenious design, a lot of work and effort, congratulations
It's nice that you and others appreciate it. Thank you
Very smart set up. I enjoyed watching this. Ignore the negative people with ugly hearts. May your health improve to keep doing what you want to do. God bless you.
Thank you for your kind words. Actually, most people have been very nice to me. Yes, many have pointed out that they prefer a tent, but that's ok. They're welcome to voice their opinion. Presently I fell very good and I'm working on a solar camper that would make me fully independent from the electrical grid.
Best regards
Robert
@@RobertBeriault753 I look forward to seeing that so I just subbed. Good luck !
You're an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your creativity and journey with us. God bless you and keep you safe.
Thank you! You too!
Very clever design. I want to make a bicycamper but I would prefer it be as durable as possible. I know durability will mean more weight though. Anyway it’s clear you’ve spent many hours improving your design, and it came out wonderfully, well done sir
Great point! If the frame were made of aluminium, it would be much more durable and perhaps not heavier.
Pretty cool. 🙂🧡 Were your tires locked? I noticed they were sitting on the ground by that pull -out, just a suggestion, put tires in the vestibul area, out of sight from public.
Good point. Thanks.
@@RobertBeriault753 Maybe use 14 in. tires instead, w/solid tubes so they can't go flat. Then they'd be easier to store inside (or less conspicuous storing OUTside).
dude you are the man i love your camper guy wow what a fun video to watch i have all that same stuff at work never in a million years would i have thought to make that wish you had the plans cheers wayne
Thanks 👍 What a nice compliment! Plans are available. See my website: www.robertberiault.com
I love this kind of shit. The things people can do never ceases to amaze me. Happy Travels, sir. That's an outstanding setup.
I just like playing with new ideas.
Amazing design. I am impressed.
Thank you.
Looks real nice, thanks for posting buddy.
Thanks for your comment
thats beauty eh! I hope you have good videos showing your progress for your trip!
Thanks. There will be videos of my trips this summer. We had a very cold spring and finally, the forecast looks good.
Still the best design of it's type type I've ever seen. Great video
Thank you.
That is a awesome little camper. Great job mate.happy and safe travels.
Thank you for the good karma.
The only thing more magnificent than the trailer is you!!
Cheers
That's too kind. Thank you.
Wow, we have the same last name. Ive done some bicycle touring and I admire the work you've put into creating the camper! Nice video.
Thank you. Parles-tu français? Where are you from?
All the very best to you Robert, take care out there and be safe, from some one in the UK.
Thank you, Tom
Absolutely brilliant! I love it. I hope it held up! Can't wait to see how it did.
Thank you. I did a follow-up video: ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=K14wZA_qLOc
Great idea and perfect realisation. Good luck for your trips.
Thank you.
Wow I'm really impressed!
Thank you. Best regards, Chobaca.
Sketched a folding trailer on paper almost resembled this design but alot easier to see yours fully made. Maybe ill mock up a miniature trailer for a test build
Let me know what you come up with. I'm interested.
Nice job, very creative. At the end of the day I think I lightweight bike trailer would carry a much larger tent and all the camping equipment needed.
Thank you.
