I'm listening to a seven-year old interview, so perspectives of Kevin and Tim have likely changed in time, but it was an interesting set of perspectives to think about. I think that especially with the internet people have a sense that they want to make some kind of big deal out of their lives-perhaps some measure of business success, wealth or notoriety-to have said they are living or have lived a good life. I agree as someone said that this life isn't a dress rehearsal and I myself think deeply about my life purpose. My mom died when I was Tim's age at the time of this interview: 37. That made me really take stock in my life and what I was chasing. We did not regale my mom's accolades and career highlights around her deathbed. It was about our love for one another and the special times we shared together. I'm standing at 51 today and here's a perspective I've gained: this life isn't just all we have. We're so concerned about packing whatever into this life and we often make no investment for where we go after this life. We're eternal, people. I don't believe in reincarnation, but you have a destination after this life and you need to understand what your choice is in where you go. You can't opt out and claim ignorance. I'm not a religious person, but I have a deep personal relationship with God (and by God, I mean: Jesus Christ, Father God, and the Holy Spirit). He gave us each a special purpose, but are you only interested in setting your own agenda? I thought that's how you lived life until He showed me that He has a more beautiful purpose for my life-one that I can choose to follow after or not. But He knows ALL things and loves me with PERFECT love and has the BEST plans for every detail of my life-why would I choose my way over His? I love walking with Him every day and learning and growing in that purpose. As Kevin said about how money doesn't really buy you the happiness you think it does, so too does a lot of other things we chase leave us feeling unfulfilled in life because they're empty things. We're truly meant to walk with Him and enjoy that higher purpose and enjoy the God who made us. My higher purpose is often showing His kindness to a neighbor, a friend, a family member, a stranger that He puts in my path to allow Him to love that person through me. I get more out of that than the person I bless! People are so valuable, and He has shown me that. Worthy of true investment. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in ourselves, but who around us are we investing in? Anyway, a few more things for thought...

I love this, after losing my inheritance to the stock market when I was like 19 I spent years living day to day. Then my house burned down and I decided to take a tent and off I went to live on the streets (well on an island in a levee ) thing was that the year and a half I spent living there gave me an enormous sense of accomplishment. Until you have had to carry your water every day nearly a mile to cook and clean with, you will never appreciate it. the sense of "I survived" that I had after the self experiment was over was enormous, wish I knew about stoic philosophy then... Maybe the family wouldn't have thought that I was insane for abandoning society and choosing to be homeless if I'd have just claimed stoicism haha but hey the experience taught me more than anything that going without is very very empowering,

Hey Stardust, is that story really true? Your picture doesn't seem to be such you'd be homeless, desolate, and searching for water. Were you on drugs or what. What's the story here. And what happens to stardust? How does dust become water, which Stardust purports to carry. Stardust carrying stardust is a quite a an interesting concept.

@@quantumpotential7639 she is talking about the past (as the tense implies). Of course stardust carries itself. Stardust is just a mix of atoms and the right ones under right conditions can become something more (sounds like a human life 😂).

Kevin Kelly is so clear in his thoughts. He has the reason I have become a Christian. I dismissed religion as ignorance until I discovered this great man.

Should I die today or tomorrow, I'm fine with it. I came seconds away from dying at age six, so I haven't any concerns or fear of death, however it should happen.
The pool manager saw my mother come into the pool area and told someone who had said to him. You need to the boy's not going to make it. He said. I have to try one more time.
The near drowning erased my memory. And gave me a rebirth on a new life.
These people I have so much in common with, the Buddha, Christ, Confucius-the Tao De Ching, Kevin Kelly and Wim Hof.

I swear this is the male version of me...all the way down to me being a professional photographer. I'm always trying to teach folks the same lessons...but it's too hard for them to think outside the box!

One part is the messenger and aother part is the recipient. Maybe try changing your way of communicating your lessons. We all have different way of looking at the world, different concepts etc. So start thinking outside the box! ;-) :P

I thought the same thing when I first heard him today on Impact Theory. Interest-wise not necessarily things that I'm living, yet! Nice to know there are others out there! What would you recommend for a beginning photographer at age 27? If you're able to get to this comment...thanks!
