“You are successful because you have found yourself. That's independent of how much money you make, it's independent of how many followers you have. It's really about whether you have come to find out what it is that you can contribute, what impact you can have that no one else will have.” [10:10]

i'm 30 and just am starting to piece things together. it feels good to not be completely lost anymore, but it took 3 decades of uncertainty to get here.
uncertainty will always be there, AI coming soon, will change the whole world..
I'm 52 and still struggling. Please help
Same!
Everyone is always lost. Sorry to say it never ends no matter how old you are. People who say otherwise are bulshitting
I hear you!
Failure sounds even luxurious when feeling extremely lost because sometimes I don't even know what I am failing at.
That's a very powerful insight. I've never thought of it like that, and i'm sure many people share that sentiment.
Great timing , cause I'm lost af !
Adrian Luna same!
You're not alone, I assure you!
I'm sure Christopher Columbus was lost at one point......
Lost too!
Adrian Luna same man im 26.and i have no passion in life i feel like im lost. I stuck at a job which i hate so much.dont really know what to do it really sucks
Failure is necessary for growth
As a filmmaker I believe it is My duty to make movies that presents a hopeful future. One of the reason I love Interstellar is that it's one of the very few films that point us to a bright future.
Well, you're very well thought of in your field. Obviously this is a paradigm shift for me having crossed your path and been informed of your progress and great films. Contact light?!
The thing with learning with failure is that it leaves, sometimes deep, scars. I've had many humbling failure experiences and it works both in my favor and against me at the same time.
Germana Salles , I feel exactly the same. But I'm trying to not overthinking it, trying to get out of the loop. Try the 5 seconds rule, could help too.
G. A. I've just watched her talk one of these days. It's a great method, gotta keep it in mind :)
Germana Salles , tem um vídeo que aborda principalmente a decisão de assumir total responsabilidade por tudo que aconteceu. Não lembro o nome agora, depois volto aqui e posto.
G. A. Acho que já vi algo assim. Obrigada
Awwwwwwe
Thanks for all the content you make! Every morning I CHOOSE to do something positive for my own growth and your videos are a big part of that. So, thanks for being a part of my awakening :D
I'm super honored!
You cant imagine how his speech affected me,i loved every word.i have a voice inside me telling me that iam not yet doing what i can only do..
I loved the idea of moving on to new potential and not to stick to past choices:)and yes,to be a life long kearner:)
I think Impact Theory is the best content for real deal learning that you can apply immediately in various areas of your life..
What I got out of this episode is to mass produce my best work and out of that my greatest hits will come.
Never look back unless reflecting and keep growing through playing and just enjoying the process.
Thanks so much for this episode! Definitely one of my favs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x)
Dear Tom,
Look man, I can't thank you enough for what you guys are doing with this channel. I have no more words to express. Thank you. I am super grateful for the access to these gems.
Thank you.
Tom. Just know. For the last 5 months I have been watching impact theory, then researching you because I was so amazed at how I was barely discovering you and just any information like this. It's opened all the mental doors for me to fully begin this new journey to my goals unisolated anymore. I can't even fathom the freedom i feel internally. This is only the begining. I will be meeting you in time and we'll be talking about this beginning journey you have sparked in me to see that it is there and how I took full action no matter what.
This is a very underrated skill, the ability to learn and unlearn in this fast changing world.
There is a more abstract take on what KK is trying to get across and that is that life surfs along down the slope between entropy and stasis and that is why it is so adaptable. Life is at the balance point between retaining as much memory or learning as possible while having the most opportunity to obtain more exposure to novelty so as to maximise the rate of learning. Our life should be no different, we need to follow that ever shifting midline between chaos and boredom, that fascinating yet survivable place where everything swirls around constantly but where we can still find meaningful patterns. I've had an interest in KK's ideas for many years and it is my understanding of his vision of what sort of minds we need to nurture to be adaptable that has informed my choice to home educate my 5 children. Because as he points out there are few places where you can really learn to be a learner rather than just learning facts or set skills that are going to rapidly become obsolete.
Your videos value more than 10000000$ but you share it free. I appreciate it. Thanks a lot. I'm your fun from Afghanistan.
Thank you! So glad the content is valuable!
Only halfway into it, but this is unbelievable stuff. This dude rocks. This really speaks to where I'm at with my podcast. I don't know where it's going, but it's something I'm passionate about and want to explore. And it's a departure from my standard comic book artwork, yet it builds on it. Anyhow, this is great, thanks, Tom.
Love that! And love seeing you here as well as IG. ;-)
Right on, Tom. I've been consuming Gary Vee for a while now and felt like it was time to branch out. I was getting too comfortable. It was time to come back to Impact Theory!
This guy will melt the stress off of anybody. Thank you.
Great interview as always! ☺ Loved the bit about AI!
I needed this, right now. Literally as it feels like things are falling apart, this pops up. Thank you!
Impact crew thanks so much for this mindblowing interview!! The way he explained premature mastery is so interesting & also love his attitude of always looking for the opportunities
Yes! Agreed!
OMG I could spend several days talking to this man and so full of so much information!!
I’ve heard interviews with Kevin Kelly in the past. But this is the best one in the sense that you’ve revealed a lot more about his process and beliefs. Thank you.
Great episode! Tom it's amazing how prepared you are for each episode, you always have the best questions... Thank you!
The intro itself shows how prepared he is lol. I need to build on that skill.
100% agree with you, but did you noticed over episodes how key are right questions at the right moment? And he is even getting better with every new episode, I am completely amazed and so grateful for this show 🙏
I really focused on how much time and respect he gives. Like he asks the question, then just kicks back and takes it in. So simple and effective.
Thank you! That's so kind!
the Art of Justin Prime yes, I like his style of interview. It makes you feel like you're actually in the room.
Powerful. Learn how-to learn and don't prematurely optimize. This is strongly resonating with me. Probably one I'll watch and listen to again and again.
Thanks Tom!
I love having time to sit down a watch impact theory. Another great lesson to take away. Thankyou Tom & team and thankyou Kevin Kelly for your wisdom!
Awesome!! No wonder he can imagine what the future will look like!
Sometimes I can't tell how "lost" I am. But this was one of the more interesting interviews I've seen. I really like his perspective on things, especially the 6 months to live thing. Talk about thought-provoking. Thanks for the upload.
Kevin Kelly pretty much phrased my thoughts!! Thank you!
Brilliant. Thank you.🌞
I truly resonated with this interview and love what you brought to the table.
one of my favourite episodes. So transformative!
Wow. Thanks, Tom. Thanks, Impact Theory.
Oh god I love this man's way of thinking. I relate so much to this
GREAT VIDEO! thanks for making this and sharing it!
Thank you Tom. Your videos helps me become more humane every time I go through new episode.
Love Kevin kelly. Just recently read the clock of long now. Super interesting concept and currently reading out of control! Brilliant mind
This video hasn't really started for me and I'm so glad that I did! Will be totally looking into his books and him!
Thank you Tom I really needed that!
Wow this was amazing and such a beautiful outro Tom 💜
Thanks for another great episode Tom,
I like that you ask many of your guests about passion how to find it and so on.
Wow, Kelly, I find your story fascinating...took 3 pages of notes...I also grew up when you did and am currently asking what do I want to be when I grow up....thank you!
Wish i had him as a role model when i was younger. Im 27 and tried so much and yet what i want most is still evading me.
This episode is full of insights for me. Love it.
Thanks, Tom, for this great episode. Been looking forward to your video since last week!
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
Wow!! What a Great video!!! 👍🏻 I really like what he said/his believes & and I really like your questions Tom.
Thank You very much ! 🙏🏻
So many nuggets in this...
Taking my guitar busking to Spain next month, and looking to get lost myself!
I'm a master of inefficiency. Great interview
It's TRULY refreshing and reaffirming that you don't NEED to follow the "typical" path society tends to lay out for you. I used to think I was "wasting" my time after college, but that no matter what you do, experinence is expereince. How do you know what you like if you've never done it before? Go taste, and expereince, even if you're 70+ years young.
A truly meaningful and magnificent life, human and show - thank-you for the sparkling truth and inspiration. Sharing with everyone I know...
Really dope. Thanks Tom Thanks Kevin! It’s still not common in USA to “gap year” or “gap decade” in Kevin or Mine’s case. I’m living around the world too racking up experiences and it has been extremely rewarding. Cool that he did it in his time intuitively and hope more follow that lead 😎✌🏼
I still find myself running away from risk and failure at times even though many of these interviews prove that it's necessary and even fruitful
He is our Ben Franklin always love Kevin Kelly
Perfectly right about the necessity of learning (I do it constantly) and as an artist I confirm the validity of "working out" instead of preparing a single great masterpiece. I don't agree though on "being lost" after graduating, instead of searching an occupation, it's too easy to lost oneself totally.
Tom, Thanks.
My pleasure!
Great content! I really needed this! I was expecting the concept of One Thousand True Fans to be mentioned though.
El Kevin Kelly dropping wisdom dropping knowledge. Squint Boss approved.
32:07, Several years back I realized something about how we have done things for thousands of years and I came up with this question.
"Will we ever catch up with the future?"
This was brilliant!
Love this so much !
The most interesting man in the world
Truth
He must be the Duseque Man
I am starting to love this channel
Great episode !
Well done. Ideas that merit a full feature length movie series spun off from earlier IT comics. Bravo......
mind blowing try to figure out of my goals its help me lot to avoid negative people in my life thanks to impact theory help to achieve the goals of our life to motivate us.
Thank you.
awesome stuff!!
Tom I love all of your videos, I'm obsessed with your show, i hear it the whole day while i'm working here on you tube, while driving on spotify and i have heard a lot of stuff and i think yours is the best. and i wish they were in Spanish to share it to many people that care for here in Colombia. Besides that i wanted to ask you something...
Is there anything wrong?, i felt like there was a lack of something in this video, maybe the passion or intensity you put in every word that you say i didn't felt anything like that even when you were ill . I really hope everything is okay and i wish you the best.
Thanks again, i'm 24 years old, and i'm a researcher in AI and robotics and you and audiobooks (recommended by you) have improved my life in a incredible way!!
Doing great! Sad it didn't come across in this interview. Thank you for the kind words, and the concern, btw. :-)
Wow, ride across America on a bike. When, I got back from India. I wanted to hold on to that experience, so I bought a bike and rode it to my hometown. Which is 65 miles. It was easy, but to go across America. I know what I felt after the 65 miles ride and I was 60 when I did that.
Just started to listen, let me throw this in and see if it relates somewhere in this video.
Time getting lost to me, means going into the unknown. Fearlessly, getting lost in the unknown.
Tom great content.
Brilliant! Have you thought of Jordan B. Peterson (12 Rules for Life)? His ideas really extend on this talk. Plus, in an interview in April he mentioned to devote the upcoming time to public talks and interviews. So right now might be a good time to catch him. ;)
I was excited about this, as much as Infinity War.
I love this episode
from Thailand
Thanks! It's actually nice to have permission to set my ambition down for a bit and take some time to just enjoy the process of learning and experimenting. I'll pick my ambition up again, in just a bit.
I think there's a lot of value in exploring.
I really enjoyed this episode. I'm going to watch it again. I asked myself the question, If 2018 was the last year that I would live, how would I live it? Well it's May… I'm visiting my parents in Florida. My father is having some health issues. It took until April for me to leave my job. So it's unfolding rather slowly I'd like to add some urgency to the whole endeavor.
The thing that only I can do? I don't know yet but I do feel that that I might just get there if I keep asking, What if? What if? What if? And then follow some twisting little paths of discovery.
Thanks, Tom. I'm so glad you're around doing what you're doing. 💛💛
Glad you liked this episode! I have to say that KK's perspective is super intriguing to me. And I love that you're asking yourself that very powerful question.
Follow your heart bro. These steps are allready great, stay with your feeling and let it 'slowly' unfold... How fast would you wanna go anyway.... Enjoy the now and keep on going... (and maby vlog about it?) Good luck!!
JakeSimmer, thanks man. I started a vlog, "From the Blanket Fort" on m'y RUclips channel. I'm a little behind on my updates. I should've done an episode when I left my job.
It's been a heck of a two or three weeks. Two weeks basically sleeping every day. I have a tendency to depression and that's what I was doing on my days off for the last year and a half.. So expect this whole thing is going to take some time.
I set up the blanket fort but I've been stuck in the man cave. There are some practices I plan to do: fasting meditating journaling and living a few media-free days. However free I think I am I know that I'm being influenced constantly by memes, the media, imagery, social norms, and the voices in my head which may or may not be my own.
It seems all the grades of all time have forged her own path and really become authors of their lives and authorities in the field by digging down into the DNA of whatever they're exploring. That's what need to do. Commit to myself in my life. Here.
This thought came to me the other day: Immanence= Transcendence. And the idea that enlightenment involves radical non-resistance. I have more work to do in accepting my humanity, and actually celebrating it.
Well, that's quite a handfull to handle... I hope you can focus on action, even small steps, get a vlog out every week, or even once a month, but something, not nothing. Those thoughts and plans... nice but maby to big and to many for now... I recognize alot in your story.
JakeSimmer definitely action. That's what Tom says it's a date a rich area. Actually doing stuff and getting the feedback loop. I spent too much time in my head trying to perfect my plans but not actually refining from real life.
my name is KEVIN KELLY!
Learn from your mistakes, otherwise you're just suffering without good reason.
I love getting lost, you see things you never knew were there. But the people in the back of my taxi usually complain
My take-aways:
- Don´t specialize too much too soon. Learn to be adaptable and dynamic.
- Improvements come by taking a lot of substandard attempts at doing sth, not by trying to be perfect at doing something just a few times. Better to practice more and not get perfect result, that being blocked by perfectionism and not practice enough,
This is incredible. I love every damn second of this interview.
Thank you for sharing your talents, Impact Theory, I and the followers appreciate your work and gift that you share with us.
Our thoughts- especially when fueled with emotion- are creative. Demonstrated iteratively. The future is of the nature that i convictedly anticipate/envision it being. The two options are create or be a victim...... Love this guy. Love that he has KK.org. and kk@kk.org. Thanks for having him on and for perpetuating/cultivating LIFE. It
Tom's MO includes creating awesome intros!
Very awesome. Thank you. Speak to Eckhart Tolle sometime? I’d like to hear both of you together.
I’ve never been so lost. Alone. I feel a crippling sense of urgency. I know my capabilities but after a failed marriage, I feel stuck. I am so tired of the suffering.
Tom, THANK YOU. You bring a unimaginable amount of value and great content, only fools can ignore it! Keep up the awesome work!!
What is your T-shirt? and where can I get one? ( thanks in advance)
My take from this episode-(Solutions are a product of numerous failed attempts. It sucks but that is the truth.)
Kevin Kelly crafted his own path from the start, did things before they were fashionable
Where is the link to his newsletter?
I wish there was a love button. Thank you Tom for what you are doing, truly inspiring
Casey Files, Dr Finess thats what we need. Surely a SOLO review if nothing else!
Sadly, Reel Impact is on an indefinite hiatus.
Ahh thats a shame, but thanks for the update. The fans will wait patiently, maybe forever...
Great
I didn't quite get the concept of premature optimization, is it like the 10 thousand hour rule? OMG, mr.kelly just said about the 10 thousand hour rule minutes after I posted the question.
Amazing content, thanks!
God bless you man! What a message!
I need this clock! Where can I get it from 😂😂
I have found the book teaching excellence by Richard bandler to be useful in learning how to learn
“Optimizing prematurely.” Geez, that sounds so counterintuitive, especially for businessmen, entrepreneurs, etc; where it seems as though optimizing rapidly is essential. Because, if not, you crash and burn. Unless of course you have someone/something funding the trial and error phase.
Love his original perspective. If you live by his philosophy i feel you can be more self forgiving and actually be less hard on yourself when trying new stuff and fooling around "wasting time". However if you have a death timer near you this is actually makes it harder? Sounds a bit contradicting to me...
Why did he want to do the ordinary things? That really stuck out to me. It is really interesting but Tom brushed right over it.
"Only flawed people make art"- Kevin Kelly
