Finally an intelligent comparison. At idle lqt uses half of xfce's ram. But it needs to pull in gtk anyway (which xfce uses by default) when it launches certain apps and then the gap closes. Launch gimp and see.
What is lgt and xfce
@@DigvijaySingh-se2ll xfce = a linux desktop that is based on gtk. (The desktop xubuntu uses)
Lqt = a linux desktop that is based on qt. (The desktop Lubuntu uses)
I wrote Lqt instead of Lde. Maybe it should be Lxde and Lxqt. Lde is the original desktop. At some point they decided they could make it lighter by basing it on qt and they started calling it lqt.
People say lde is lighter than xfce (lde takes half the ram xfce does). Im saying that when it launches apps, lde becomes the same. Lde is lighter bc it loads without gtk. But once lde launches an app, the app will load gtk and lde and xfce become the same ram usage.
Xfce has more features than lde. Lde is a minimalist desktop that looks like win 95. But u don't save much by running it, maybe 10% ram over xfce.
Also if everyone else goes to gtk, now u need to maintain qt just for desktop. Not worth it imo. Maybe good for raspberry pi or something that really neede the savings.
Most lightweight desktop people claim xfce is just a pig but really it has a lot of nice features for not much more ram than lde.
The video compares xfce and lde with actual apps launched. Most of them just compare them by themselves. Who runs a gui desktop with no apps? Lol.
That's true, but wouldn't that also apply to XFCE and Gnome when they have to launch a QT app, like Krita, VLC or RPCS3?
@@Espadasilenciosa Absolutely correct. That comparison doesn't make sense in that regard.
I heard xfce run slower in computers like rizen 3 with 4gb ram
Idk why but a lot of people say that, maybe the perfect system apply only in 1 machine and no all computers
Thats my case and other say the same in many setups
Idk if lubuntu is more Ubuntu software friendly i think is better
Xfce not is old eviroment?
i was confused on which one to choose between Lubuntu and Xubuntu. thanks to your video - Lubuntu is it..!!!! 👍👍
How is lubuntu so far?
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for
That was very useful for what I need. Thank you for making this video!
Excellent video. Thanks man❤
Thanks for the video mate 👏
Great vid, cheers!
Great videos! Could you compare Lubuntu with LXLE, which is based on it?
Thanks for the video.
saved many an old pc with Lubuntu!
I Love Lubuntu , works perfectly on my old pc
I do too. I installed it yesterday on a 12-year-old Toshiba Satellite laptop that originally ran Windows 7. It takes a minute or so to boot up Lububtu, but runs quite fast afterwards.
@@salvationandendtimes
Assuming you are using the original hdd for it. With most old laptops, I swap the hdd for s cheap small ssd and if I got the extra ram laying around, make sure to expand or setup with dual channel. Makes a world a difference.
@@salvationandendtimes ya, my mother has this old ACER laptop only 3 Gigs ram and has Win 7. I figure if I install it and install MS Edge it would work eh?
Can you run docker containers, kafka, nifi, spark there?
I actually have a computer with 32 gb ram, i5 12th gen processor, 1 tb pcie 4.0, but I have obsessions, the less the resources of my computer are used, the more relaxed I am, I use windows 11 and vs code + browser with 10 gb ram usage is annoying, so I will use lubuntu
bro then thos extra 22 gb ram, what about that just use it.
i used to be like that and you need some help bro. It's bad for brain in longer run 😂
I am cyber security/ software engineer I always try to code my programs to be very small 11kb exe for example even .
Awesome, Thanks
Thank you!
I'll go with Lubuntu any day
Thanks for LUBUNTU, my 12 years old laptop is on fire again. 🔥💪🔥🙂
XFCE does not make any sense now days, it uses almost same ram as KDE which is way better looking.
true, which pute me in an odd spot where im forced to have both kde and lxqt on the same machine in order to fit my needs, lxqt is light but really ugly in comparison lol
What is xfce and kde?
@@DigvijaySingh-se2ll it's desktop environment. ( User interface of any OS)
xfce = more like a windows xp layout
Kde = better version of windows 10 layout.
@@DigvijaySingh-se2ll general graphical user interface + some stock apps. some desktop envorionments are lighter and quicker and some look alot better
Trying KDE and xfce on other distros I can assure you that is a Xubuntu problem, not an xfce problem
катаюсь на Lubuntu з версії 11.10. З того часу не міняв ноутбук. Тільки добавив RAM. Зараз вибираю LTS
Lubuntu the best
Great
best video complier
Yeah, a straightforward video, noice thanks
Lubuntu is perfect for pentium 3 2 and amd k6 experimintetions
♥👍
Does mediatek mt8183 run on Lubuntu.
what enviroment use the three? So i can choose
For visual Code programming, what's better for N5105 16gb?
for 16gb ram, just pick whatever you like :)
Are there any subtle differences say between Kubuntu packages and Ubuntu packages?
no.... kubuntu based on ubuntu
I hv 3gb ram will lubuntu work fine fr me?
Which lubuntu are you using Jammy Jellyfish or Focal Fossa, and what's the difference??
please answer thank you
Jammy jellyfish
@@CodeInc sorry i wrote wrong i mean lubuntu
It comes has lots of improvement over focal fossa like GNOME 42, Linux kernel 5.15 , new screenshot tool and much more.
Hello, I have a question, I have a computer with very low system features (1 gb ram 256 mb shared intel video card, etc.). My question to you is, can you recommend me an operating system that can run fast, incredibly light, even computers called toasters that won't have trouble opening the programs supported by windows? (I tried windows xp and vista, they almost don't open anything because microsoft has stopped support)
Change your computer to a one with a decent processor and 8GB of ram, it's a minimum in 2023
@@azertyuioppoiuytreza8666 у меня 3гб и норм
I believe what you are looking for is q4Os trinity, the whole idea was to be able to support and run old windows xp programs in it, with its own store to download them, and it must run well on your potato. No hardware is too old to be used ;3
Tiny11 or tiny11
Those computers prob still from end 90s I wouldn't recommend to browse the web with them. Problem with common todays websites are that they got much more complex so the processor needs a lot of time loading these sites. For other tasks like managing files, office etc. I would strongly recommend Lubuntu. Lubuntu is already the top saver when it comes to GUIs. If you want to save even more rescources than you have to switch to CLI OS.
I have a high-end laptop. I want all my resources to be used for programs, not the operating system. Do you suggest I use Lubuntu?
Use the one you prefer.
For a high end lubuntu is not recommended. You can go for something lile manjaro KDE plasma edition that offers you nice customization and looks while still maintaining its lightweight feature. I am using manjaros XFCE edition which is even more lightweight than kde but has customization limitations but looks awesome and modern once you configure it. I tested it on a 3.82gb ram lap with intel pentium and 7 year old hdd. With 10 chrome tabs open with reddit, gimp, libre writer, terminal, thunar, sublime edit, and running a nodejs server it consumed 1.89gb ram. Which I say is great.
@@XoLucyna Okay will try can i install Microsoft edge on this
@@junaidkhan-vz5br edge is availabel for all linux distros
Why not test instead which one of them is most CPU power friendly or has least CPU consumption ? RAM is cheap and easy to add more but processor is the same, not changeable at least in most laptops. Overheating is most serious and common issue in all Linux distros on laptops because of imperfect drivers so why not test ?
Xubuntu has WON
What about cpu performance
Can i install lubuntu in an intel b960 laptop processor which does not support intel virtualization vt-x ?
And the ram is 2gb?
Lubuntu is perfect for you
Lubuntu 22.04 runs smoothly in any virtual machine in window.
Una preguinta para los Linuxeros... Es mas facil cambiar la direccion mac wifi en ubuntu o en windows 10?
Nunca fiz no Windows, já no Linux é um precedimento simples utilizando macchanger.
Lubuntu is a great choice for older computers running on less than 4gb of ram.
4gb ? only one Word ¨antiX" !
what was the name of the first comman? *fetch
Please tell me, what was the first command in the video?
neofetch
i like lubuntu but with lubuntu your touchpad gesture won't work and also you can't go to settings and can't change wifi settings can't connect 5mhz wifi and so on, ubuntu is best 😅
will Lubuntu feel fast on a 1 or 2 gb ram laptop?
No at least 4
i use ubuntu 22.04. It eats 60-70% of my ram (i have 4gb)
@anolakes if i run windows it's a stress test for eternity
nothig new...
What is Lubuntu?
Same sh.. just in other packs
Can't see shit
