I have been using Lubuntu on an old laptop for years - it keeps going. I have tried all the distros you mentioned, but I keep returning to Lubuntu. Thanks for uploading a useful video.

If you don't mind sharing, what is your old laptop specifications? As I've also got a very old laptop (cheapest laptop I could find in store) with windows 7 home from around 2010, 2GB RAM) and wondering if it would handle Lubuntu?

      Hi there,
if your PC is too old don't use Linux Mint Xfce cause it runs slowly!
Linux Mint Xfce is fantastic, I love it but you have to try Xubuntu.
Now I got Xubuntu and my old PC 12-13 y.o. is reborn; with Mint Xfce it was slow for almost everything 👍
      Thanks for the comparison.

Used Debian Xfce for a while and Xubuntu too. I don't care much about startup time. I get a cup of coffee and by the time I get back it's up. But currently I'm using openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE.

I prefer Xubuntu 22.04 but had too many stability issues with it. I moved to Mint XFCE 21.2 and it's been solid. I agree with your assessment of Debian 12 XFCE - it's a bit raw and bare bones which may appeal to some.

LMDE- my choice for the best distro.

I just use Lubuntu, make any old laptop to run like a charm, and I love its simplicity.

Nice, video brother, I have been using Linux Mint as my daily driver for a long time now and I and I love using it! Apart from XFCE Mint, I like xubuntu, 💯💯

I prefer Zorin -- another Ubuntu spinoff. Starts up fast, their HQ is in Ireland, they focus on a nice UX and UI and keep it lightweight with top-notch security

I am on a 64gb ram pc, Lubuntu is still the snappiest one among them, if LMDE is using nemo I think it is as slow as Linux mint cinnamon. I like fast file manager so Thunar or PCMan is the best.

Would be useful if you compare CPU and RAM usage between distros

I have a different use case. Rather than low end hardware, I'm using Linux Mint XFCE dual booted on a gaming PC. I still reccomend it, and it's super fast with good hardware as well as being quite functional!

Having explored various operating systems, I truly believe that antiX, Bodhi Linux, and Pop!_OS stand out as the best choices for long-term stability. Each of these OS offers a unique blend of features and robustness that makes them reliable for prolonged use.Virtual machines cannot be compared with real ones because re diferent. You have stuff upgraded inside VM the real ones don't have.

antiX: Known for its lightweight nature, it's especially suitable for older hardware. It offers excellent stability and performance but might not have as polished a user interface as some other distros.Bodhi Linux: With its Enlightenment desktop environment, it offers a unique user interface experience. It's lightweight and customizable, making it suitable for users who want a blend of performance and aesthetics.Pop!_OS: Developed by System76, it provides an out-of-the-box experience with a polished GNOME-based interface, great software support, and optimized performance, especially for System76 hardware.

I have a question. I would love to use a light weight distro but I'm used to hot corners with top left showing all apps. (I have skippy-xd) runninG on lubuntu but I can't get Brightside running. That enables the hot corners. Of the 4 distros what distro do you think I would have the easiest time with getting hot corners / gnome apps working well on?
