    Assist to turnover ratio can be not that good (depending on the player). Some players are TOO careful with the ball and don't make risky plays that have a lot of value. Sometimes you want a passer with a worse A/TO because their genius passes are worth the mistakes.
    Tyrese Haliburton is great at both though, which makes him really special

    Besides the occasional 48 minute playoff game in modern times, there is one pretty famous case of a player playing 48 minutes.
    and that's Wilt Chamberlain who holds the recortd for average minutes per game for a whole season with over 48 minutes!!!!!!!!
    FOR A WHOLE SEASON 😮😮😮😮
    Wilt was just different and in this season he pretty much played every minute of every game + overtimes.
    Didn't need google for that ;)

  • @deonlepharaoh
    @deonlepharaoh 4 месяца назад +1

    Lol the wilt chamberlain thing is very common knowledge. Especially if you collected cards growing up
    Shaq once said he wanted to do what wilt did and play every minute of the season but gave up after a few games
    Also, him playing every minute heavily contributed to why he was able to average 50ppg....playing every minute of a game in an era where pace was at its highest made it possible for him to do

    • @whatshorts
      @whatshorts  4 месяца назад

      yeah, the game was way different back Wilt was getting those numbers

    • @deonlepharaoh
      @deonlepharaoh 4 месяца назад

      @@whatshorts not just wilt... everyone's stats were very inflated compared to now due to the break neck pace of the time....the fast break was the most popular/innovative offense at the time so everyone was getting buckets, assists and of course rebound numbers were inflated due to pace and God awful shooting of the time (not cause people couldn't shoot but shot selection/settling for jumpers was very common)

    • @soodhooku
      @soodhooku 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@whatshorts sorry I shouldn’t have said ‘bad’ but it’s not perfect. Because I don’t think you can use it to compare this season to a previous season because of the use of the average of 15. What if the average player this season is better than the average player last season? Then the whole metric is thrown off - I could be wrong tho

    • @kevinc8955
      @kevinc8955 7 месяцев назад

      @@soodhookuIt’s not perfect but year after year 8 of the 10 guys who lead in it are 8 of the 10 best players in the NBA, so it means something.

      @@whatshorts yeah they obviously are. I really hope it's not Trae Young. I know he's a bucket but I can't stand his play style. Plus it's a lot to give up I imagine. I'd rather see somebody like Tyus and then go out after some other scorer at forward. I think there's a point guard in the top five of the draft that a lot of people are pointing to as San Antonio's probable pick but I can't remember the guy's name you never know how things are going to turn out but this draft class looks pretty awful.

    What if TS% is given different metrics since each shot value is difference (FTs don’t happen ALL the time in a game and it plummets during playoffs unless sneaky stuff is going on)
    And 3pt% should be weighed higher since those shots are alot harder and dimmish if player are just taking alot of easy shots at the basket.

      In 2012/13 Kobe Bryant played nearly 40 mins per game in the regular season and in the last 7 games he played at least 41 and up to 48 minutes at an age of 34 and that resulted in his Achilles tear....
