The other day I was talking about him with my sister and couldn’t remember his name so I called him the ‘clown who cut that one girl hotdog style’. Needless to say she understood who I was talking about
To sum it up. David Howard Thornton. That's what shot Art to the heights he's reached. If the performance wasn't at the level it was, not even the shock kills would have been enough to make it so popular.
You're totally right, unfortunately I followed David's social media and his posts are too politically driven for me. I'm libertarian and don't like either sides extremist propaganda and that seems to be majority of his posts. He's a damn good actor either way, Arts performances are flawless
I am of the firm belief that David Howard Thornton is the real icon. His performance alone gives the Terrifier films their vibe. One of the biggest casting coups of all time. The character could never hold up though a feature length runtime (let alone 3) without him. Really gave me a whole new respects for mime work. Managing to make the most violent character put to film genuinely endearing is a feat.
One thing people take for granted now is the fact in the first two films,it was just two guys doing every special effect,Damien being one of them. The fact they got it all looking that good with only two people is nothing to scoff at
I went to a Comic Con recently. And there was someone walking around as Art from Terrifier 3. Including the Santa Claus suit and Christmas tree sunglasses.
This actually very inspiring. Going from a short film to becoming a modern mascot of the horror genre is amazing. If I created something that got this treatment, I would probably cry from happiness.
i love seeing all the love for david howard thornton in the comments. he really brought art to life and is SO talented. do you know how hard it is to give so much personality to a character who never speaks?? not too surprising considering his theatre background but still insanely impressive.
This clown has issues, yet he is so adorable. Just look at how he marked out when he saw Santa, awwwwwww. When he was about to attack with the chainsaw, I expected him to look at the camera like John Belushi in Animal House: "Yup, kids, this is about to get interesting. The film Pieces is nothing compared to what I'm going to do." The scene with the kids cracked me up. Why would you go anywhere near this creepy-looking Santa?
I was recently asked what has made me become so obsessed with Art the Clown, and what makes me go back to re-watch the movies. It's hard to pinpoint exactly but there's just something about the way David Howard Thornton portrays him. Art is so silly, and yet also terrifying if you have a fear of clowns like I do. And there's just something so loveable there that I can't put my finger on. That's what makes him so iconic to me.
My grandmother and I love Art the clown and David Howard Thorton really brought him to life! If it wasn’t for David Howard Thorton, I truly do not think art would have kicked off as hard as he has. Art even has ornaments at 5 below of all places! (yes I do have him on my tree next to the star just like the star he is). I am so excited to see where Damien Leone and David Howard Thorton will take Art from here ❤
@@nicolethorson8186 my grams legit is the best! She actually watched the first one again for the ninth time last night, the second one she’s seen at least 5 times (she’s actually mad that she can’t find it on RUclips anymore), and she’s seen the third one at least 5 times as well! One day I’d love to take her to meet David Howard Thorton and Damien Leone!
My interest in Art started from going to my first horror con and seeing things with his face on it everywhere. For me, Terrifier was just some movie put in the "free with ads" section of most movie apps that never seemed to leave. I looked into it and decided to watch All Hallows Eve to get an idea before watching the actual Terrifier film. I found the Terrifier film fun, but somewhat pointless. I just enjoyed watching it with my wife as something new to put on. Then we started seeing 2 was coming out. We saw that with one of my nieces and really enjoyed the film enough for my wife to make a cosplay of Sienna and the little pale girl for my niece for Damien to see at our next horror con and even had Lauren LaVera post it to twitter. With the news of Terrifier 3, more of my nieces saw the first 2 films and begged me to take them to see the third one. These movies went from something to watch at home with my wife to a full theater experience where I'm hoping I can even find 6 seats near each other. Nearly 3 years ago, Art was just a face I'd see and ignore, but now he's the only horror icon/franchise I've spent some good money on for theater viewings, shirts, props, con tickets, a photo, plus the movies themselves. Most horror franchises, I just get the movies and maybe a shirt with the original cover on it, but I've spent more for Terrifier than I have for my favorite franchise, Child's Play, which includes the movies, a shirt, and a Good Guy doll. I did not expect to have a picture of my wife and niece with Art the Clown when I put on All Hallows Eve and Terrifier.
I went to the Maryland Renaissance Fair back in October and there was somebody cosplaying Art. I asked him for a photograph and it was the highlight of the trip for me; especially since it felt so out of place. My jaw dropped when I saw Art casually walking around amidst the other people dressed up in their period-attire
The Smile demon is interesting too. I hope they introduce more lore in the next movie. I just mention this because your background music is like the Smile score.
ngl it was cool not having art in the main stream but it’s also cool to see him everywhere now especially for those who seen him before he got his own movies
😅 thank mf goodness for you. I've been TRYING for years to get my brothers to understand how epic a mountain this icon had to climb and this sums it up so well they will FINALLY give Art a chance. Thank you a thousand times over. ❤
I was just thinking yesterday at work, after finally getting to see 3 this past weekend, that you should do an updated Art video. Hell yes, talk about manifesting!
Terrifier easily deserves this success. I remember watching T1 years before T2 was announced and finally being excited for a horror character that just doesn’t hold back. I’m glad T3 was able to put Art at horror icon status

3:52- "An icon that's sure to cause you to sleep with your lights on." That's so funny because after watching Terrifier 3 a couple of days ago, I literally couldn't bring myself to turn all the lights off before going to bed...and only a handful of horror films have had that effect on me💀💀
OMFG!!!! The first time I heard of INK was in High School, I just randomly found the songs "The Greatest Story Ever Told" and "What I Really Learned In Study Hall" I haven't heard of them since then, thats crazy lol
Hey bud, I just noticed that you never made a Horror History of Matilda Dixon, the antagonist of Darkness falls! This movies scared the crap out of me when I was in Jump Scholl and it still haunts me today! I Highly recommend you watch it if you havent!

my husband and i made it a halloween tradition to watch all new terrifier movies since all hallows eve came out, we love art the clown and how he's just so brutal.
I have not and will not watch any of the Terrifier films. I am too sissy for it. But the clips I've seen make it clear that the real-life clowning and mime training of David Howard Thornton is the reason Art works as a slasher villain and horror icon. I have done a very small amount of clown and mime work in various drama classes between high school and college and it is NOT EASY. Making mime performance work takes skill that is unique. Making mime performance scary without straying too far into camp is beyond most performers entirely.
I remember watching this in 2021-2022 before I heard there was gonna be a sequel and it was genuinely the first film that terrified me. But I told myself that if there was gonna be a sequel, I was gonna watch and try to get over my fear of art. What terrified me was the fact that every single icon usually has a final girl or a final boy, but Art only had victims, Art didnt have a final girl. He had someone survive. Which honestly in horror, "surivor" and "final girl" should be two different things.
Honestly I think another thing that terrifies me about him is the fact he seems to take a sadistic pleasure in killing people and while yes it's nothing new for the genre the way Art takes his pleasure seems terrifying to me
such dedication and precise long time goals, such methodical and meticulous work, such consistency and hard work. only the creator knows what he went through to make his dream a reality. Standing fucking applause until hands are red & broken and respectful bow.
For the record, I worked on the team for one of the film festivals that turned down the original Terrifier short. It wasn't anything to do with the quality of the film, we thought it was really clever and creepy, but we couldn't allow it due to the event technically being open to kids (despite the horror screenings being several hours after the kids stuff, go figure lol) therefore anything that hadn't been through the BBFC was not allowed :(
i’m so glad terrifier blew up this last year or so! terrifier had amazing potential and i worried that they wouldn’t be able to reach it with their low budget. david howard thornton is 100% the reason terrifier is now considered a classic, ive never seen someone so wildly different from their character truly embody and perform their role perfectly!
Yeah I think I first saw Terrifier on a B streaming service (at the time) like Shutter or something. I just remember I kept seeing the thumbnail/poster for it everytime I went to watch something and it eventually got me. Was not disappointed though
I remember the terrifier go fund me page. Waiting for the first movie, now its goin on number 4. This is awesome seeing the journey of a new horror icon
I got to meet them at AZ mad monster, super nice guys. Didn’t know about the movie at the time but their booth wasn’t really packed so I stopped by and wanted to see what was up, love to see how far it’s gone!

Honestly, I was late to the Terrifier franchise train. Like, it was earlier this year I got into it when I saw the Terrifier movies on sale on iTunes. Like, I honestly don't think I've never heard or noticed them till this year and I'm glad I stumbled on it. They are fun, intense slashers. And Art The Clown is probably honestly, my favorite horror villain. Ghostface it for me, till Art The Clown came along for me. I love how with each project, each outing with Art gets better. And what's also badass is with the creation of Art, we get a badass final girl in Sienna. Seeing Art The Clown become a horror icon is awesome and isn't something to sneeze at (I think that's the right phrase). Like, it's just cool to see. Here's hoping they can keep up the momentum and just keep on trucking along and end the franchise with a bang and worthy of Sienna and Art The Clown.
When I first saw the first movie I thought it was good, but figured that it was as far as it was going to get. I never expected it to see it to grow into such an icon and honestly? I applaud it, in this day and age I feel thats rather hard to do to make such an impression.
Gave you a shout out on Ice Nine Kills music video for The Art of Dying. Thanks for the recommendation on a band I had never heard of. Great video. Yours, too.
The memes are how i found out sbout Art. I figured he was a horror character, but seeing memes with art having his mouth wide open and then doing his smile is how i found him in the first place😅
The other day I was talking about him with my sister and couldn’t remember his name so I called him the ‘clown who cut that one girl hotdog style’. Needless to say she understood who I was talking about

Agree. Have to say, not a huge Terrifier fan myself but AM a huge Art the clown fan and its absolutely because Thornton's clowning is fucking stellar.
He’s a silent clown not a mime
Hey noww

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE LOL
Brilliant 😂
I'm not a fan of the Terrifier movies, but the fact that an independent horror series has made it so far is very exciting.
Not the biggest Terrifier fan but I can always respect a person having a dream, getting it out the mud, and turning his dream into a reality

Sometimes villains make the hero.
More like the opposite, but they are the great duo. Their every meeting end up as a comedy gold.

I admit, I am more of a thriller than a slasher film fan, but the Terrifier series does an excellent job in riding that line between the two.

Here's hoping they can keep up the momentum and just keep on trucking along and end the franchise with a bang and worthy of Sienna and Art The Clown.
THATS ME AT THE BEGINNING OF 29:57 😭 i was shook to see david lmaoo
I did a double take when Art said “cheeeese!” I can’t wait for Terrifier 4!!!
Knowing that he has good taste in music makes me like him so much more, like omg is this my future husband?
The INK video is perfection.
Art the Clown is actually a breath of fresh air... The genre needed a new icon to shake things up
When I first saw the first movie I thought it was good, but figured that it was as far as it was going to get. I never expected it to see it to grow into such an icon and honestly? I applaud it, in this day and age I feel thats rather hard to do to make such an impression.
It was your page that I first heard of art the clown, I thank you ❤
Cz & 3c crossover. Two of my favorite RUclipsrs.
I'd love to see you do a video analysis of the horror film - The Void. A fantastic lower budget film! 👏👌
Gave you a shout out on Ice Nine Kills music video for The Art of Dying. Thanks for the recommendation on a band I had never heard of. Great video.
Yours, too.
I love the directors optimism lmao. He keeps saying "people keep saying Art is going to be as big as it!!" And its just him saying it to himself lol
He makes me laugh while scared with out saying a word and that’s the key
can you please do a video explaining the 28 days, years, and weeks series
I was hoping a lot of people woulda showed up to see it too but me and my brother were laughing our asses off on the top row by ourselves
The memes are how i found out sbout Art. I figured he was a horror character, but seeing memes with art having his mouth wide open and then doing his smile is how i found him in the first place😅
I’ve been waiting for this breakdown! 🤩
When 3c poped up I was like Chris? Is that you chris then I saw him😭
