Congratulations on your Amazon trip. While Iquitos is not an island it cannot be reached by road. Can you provide some details that would be helpful to plan my trip:
(1) Why did you choose covering the Amazon in Peru and Columbia versus Brazil?
(2) Can you share any information on how to book a river boat from Manaus in Brazil to Santarem and finally the port of Macapa?
(3) Which local tour operator would you suggest for touring and experiencing the Amazon rainforest? Thanks.

You can book the river boat a day in advance from any city from the ticket shops.
