My granny saved her bacon grease in like salsa jar. She used it instead of butter or other lard for cooking. It's as easily thrown out or reused in jar without having to waste a single use sheet of foil.

Just don't do that foil trick with actual bacon grease. that stuff is liquid gold. Fry eggs in it, pop popcorn in it, good for baking. Just get a mason jar or pickle jar and pour it in there using a paper towel to filter out any solids you don't want in there. Let it cool and refrigerate. Some people say you don't need to but I do just in case.

In no time it has solidified and then the can and grease can be placed in the garbage can. No wasting a perfectly good sheet of aluminum foil.
Todays self cleaning ovens will eventually overheat the circuit board. The repair man warned us never to use it and just clean manually. But we figured out a hack. We cover the panel with foil and aim a fan at it while it cleans itself to keep the heat to a minimum. So far so good. Been 3 years.
I never used the self-cleaning on my oven in 20+ years. I put a pot of boiling water on the rack, close the door, and let it stream clean. I come back and use paper towels to wipe up the bottom and a damp sponge for the door. No muss, no fuss, and easy peasy.

That trick with water in the egg pan is called basted eggs. It's how my old man always ordered them. In 50 years I've only been to one restaurant that didn't known what I was talking about when I ordered them that way.
You only need a little water to steam the yolks on the fried eggs. I have always splashed a cupped handful in. It's less than a tablespoon. That way I don't water down the oil or butter I am using to fry the eggs. I like to put the oil or butter on the tortillas or toast I tend to eat with my eggs. .
I love the garlic hack and never knew that about the oven door either! I did find a garlic sleeve you put garlic in and rub it around in it it peels grate… however your hack looks even better . Can’t wait to try. And save your bacon grease… you can cook different things with it!

The lettuce thing I knew lol but I hit it on the counter, the oven door I knew about, and the jar thing I kinda knew about lol. The only thing I do differently is I hit the bottom of the jar which loosens the seal making it easy to open. Never heard of anyone throwing their bacon grease out in the yard either. I cook my bacon and use the grease to fry up my potatoes giving them extra flavor instead of using cooking oil, or I leave it in the pan till it’s cool and then pour it in the trash. Love your videos

The grease in the sink one gave me anxiety even with the tinfoil lol you'll be paying a plumber eventually doing that. Just drain it into an old aluminum can and throw it out when it cools

I put my eggs in a pan and select a lid that is a little too small, one that fits just inside the rim of the pan. I heat an ounce or so of water in a coffee cup in the microwave, and after I have the eggs already going, I add some of the hot water and you can see the eggs steam up and cook.
If you slowly pour the left over grease , lard into a stainless steel bowl it automatically melts and solidifies the block each time without cracking the container ( vs glass ) Filtering through a sieve , paper towel or cloth can be a good way to capture larger particles
Bacon grease is good as gold! Don’t throw it away! Store it in a container; use some every day. It is actually good for you and gives your food a wonderful flavor. And use your burger meat drippings to put over a little food for the neighborhood feral cats every couple of weeks and they will keep the mice controlled and off your property!

I learned the salad trick in 1983 at Taco Bell when they still did in-house vegetable prep.

My mom taught me this trick years ago. I love it! It makes it so easy.
As for opening a jar, I break the seal using a spoon. Rest the bottom of the spoon on the jar with the tip of the spoon on the lid edge and pry up. 😊❤

For jars, I just tap the edge several times with a butter knife, comes off easy!!
I smack the bottom of the jar with an open palm a couple times which breaks the seal

I pour the Luke Warm bacon grease in a pint jelly jar.
Then, keep it in the fridge.
It's good for frying potatoes and onions, grilled ham & cheese sandwiches, etc.
Don't forget cornbread.
The lettuce hack works for cabbage too!!!😎👍
