Proper specification when torquing bolts and nuts...yeah all good, would be nice if AC would share said data, or make service manuals readily available to the public!

don't worry, it's not just AC. I broke an axle in the bush, and the bike was stranded. and no way to get near it with a vehicle, a long, uphill hike back in. didn't have a friend with a quad available. so I wanted to be fairly sure of what specific tools I needed for the job. I didn't want to be packing too much unnecessary weight. called several Polaris shops, and none of them would let me talk to a mechanic, against store policy they said. all I wanted was to know what wrenches/sockets I needed to take. front desk guy was telling me they wouldn't know anyway. that all they know is the polaris specs, which is what thread the bolts are, 3/8ths for example. I told him that stuff means nothing to a mechanic, that they need to know what the nut sizes and bolt head sizes are for wrenching. he said, nope, they have the machines in front of them and they just fit the wrench to the bolt. he told me to pack everything I can with me. I wasn't impressed to say the least. I watched endless youtube videos to get an idea of everything I needed and it all went fairly well, no thanks to Polaris.

Somebody please pin this! This is what you need to know and why you are not understanding how to get it out! There's a mechanism with two pins inside the circlip groove that pushed the circlip out and prevent the axle from ever coming out. When you get the axle straight and you push it in and you feel a spring Force what you're doing is opening that mechanism up so that the circlip can compress and the axle come out. You absolutely must push the axle straight in and then pull out while pushing in. This I imagine is only for the white cv axles as he stated.

MANY thanks to the OP, and you for clearing this up. I spent nearly an hour with an older gentleman yesterday trying to remove a CV from the front of his Case ATV (forget the model). He had made the slide hammer tool, but never once did we push and hold in, while pulling out with the tool. I knew there had to be a trick, but couldn't find it on my phone. Thanks again!

I have a 2014 Artic cat wild cat 1000 4x and can’t find the locking c clip axle. All the ones I have ordered are just push in and out and do not lock in place. Do you know where I can order the locking one?

My 2019 Prowler Pro Xt 157 hours and 730 miles the left rear axle bearing tore through the hub that connects axle to the rear differential. I was on asphault taking the trash out. I have used for hunting and never off road hard, always driven on soft trails or gravel roads. Does anyone know how or why the axle would disengage to the point that the square knuckle shaped bearing would spin and destroy the hub to differential connection?????

Would you know the cv axle part number or a way to find them? We need all 4 of them.

Day 6..... Was going to save the rear axles but nope. Day 4 the passenger side final came out late day 6, got the idea to fast freeze the drivers side with freon and after 5 minutes of a small trickle of liquid freon, 4 smacks and out it came.

I could not get the cv axle to come out of the rear differential. I actually had the axle pull out of the inner cv joint, so I broke the large clamp off the cv boot and got the boot and axle out of the way, then i was able to push the pin in with a large drift and the darn thing came right out. You should have explained the system better - Push Hard to depress that pin! I've done a hundreds of automotive CV's axles, but never seen anything like this 💩! Do better Cat. :(
