The Champ Of Medium - listen to it then you have to listen to the DDaeng explained by a korean from DKDKTV. The song has a lot of Korean slang and cultural related disses in it you won’t understand otherwise.
Great choice. And yes, Ddaeng Explained is 100% necessary. 😁 Edit: Random FYI for you. ARMY is going to recommend DKDKTV’s explained by a Korean videos for Baepsae, Spine Breaker and Ddaeng. They are the best resources we have for non-Koreans even tho we don’t support the channel anymore. They did us dirty - or at least one of the members, Danny, did. ARMY has thrown them millions upon millions of views and Danny turned from an ARMY sympathetic perspective to “is BTS overhyped? aren’t we all tired of listening to BTS news? shouldn’t BTS stand down to give everyone else a chance? Aren’t they hogging the limelight from the rest of Kpop?” completely ignoring BTS’s underdog past and the fact that their channel was built on BTS and ARMY labor. So, please use only those three song explanations from them. For everything else we have other resources. ByStorm, minidance, Italian ARMY, etc. Yay! Controversy!
10:13 - I actually think you were quite spot-on in that j-hope is in fact rapping about Korean artists and musicians who decide to write their stuff fully in English, hoping that this would bring them international fame. However, he doesn’t really have in mind RM who is intertwining the two languages in a really clever way and with no ulterior motives but simply to express his creativity Actually, I think there is something worth pointing out: BTS have always been very vocally proud of the fact they are Korean (all the while not idolising their country and not being blind to the problems it has, which I truly respect). Because of their international appeal and fame Bangtan are often accused of turning their back on their heritage for going too mainstream or something just as stupid of a made-up reason. Honestly, these types of comments seem really illogical to me, as BTS have done nothing but promote the Korean culture every chance they get. And I don’t only mean promoting it to international fans but also to the younger generations in Korea as well. BTS have always made it clear that they are Korean, they are k-pop idols and that their songs are in Korean (of course without fully excluding English or other languages as they are mindful of their international fans as well). All in all, BTS are Korean and proud of it Wow, this kind of turned into a rant, huh? Welp, never mind that, the important thing here is BTS being true legends and Chicken Noodle Soup being the background music of this (really enjoyable) video~
I love to see Suga growing on you. He truly has some of the most interesting flows - I'm glad you're starting to notice. Like I always say, his drunk flow o Dionysus is amazing. On Ddaeng, you'll notice how he makes a missing-beat flow too that sounds great! 💜☂️
This is Hobi's best verse of the first 3, honestly. They are all good but this one *S L A P S* *Edit-* ALSO: If you haven't already - you GOTTA listen to Outro: Tear once you are done with the cypher series. And if you listen to Ddaeng (which I highly HIGHLY recommend), you definitely need to watch the explained video for it by DKDKTV also because the amount of wordplay is insanity. They are BRILLIANT lyricists.
regarding Jhope’s verse, rappers in korea get “cred” if they can rap in english. so every rapper would either rap in english OR rap with an english accented korean (yeah it’s a thing). and if you could do it well, youre considered a “good rapper”... jhope is saying those korean rappers who think rapping in english is all that’s needed to be a good rapper aint shit. also, regarding the “all the unnies call me ppippi” line, in korea, the club promoters often call the girls they invite to promote a club “unnies” (which means sisters, but when a guy says it, it’s meant to be non threatening. so club promoters use it to appear nonthreatening to women. anyways).... a good club promoter sometimes i called “ppippi” bc he attracts all the girls to the point where they blow up his phone every night & his line is always busy like “beepbeep” aka “ppi ppi”. basically jhope is saying he’s super popular and highly desired
Not only are you a fellow metal head but you're Buffy fan? Yes! One of the main reasons Suga is my bias is because he's so aggressive and you can feel the emotion in his voice but he also switches it up and makes it smooth. You hear both of those sides of him in his song "First Love" which I highly recommend.
Regarding Hobi's "pippi" line, something I think a lot of translators have missed is that he might simply be saying "beep beep" - as in his phone is making noise cos all the unnis (older girls) are calling/texting him. I say this as someone who knows no Korean, but that's what I infer from the line. I was confused too at first though; especially as a Swede, Pippi Longstocking was the first thing that came to mind, lol =D Thanks for your reaction! I love it when people react to the cyphers. I echo the others in recommending the medley, Ddaeng (with DKDKTV's explanation), and Outro: Tear.
So much gets lost in translation here because their wordplay is no joke. I think there are two posible meanings for the BEEP-BEEP verse: like you said, meaning the "beep" sound in the phone (as in all the girls call me, text me) or it can be the beep sound when a word is censored (like all girls call him XXX, as in sth that was censored in the lyrics). 💜☂️
Some of the lyric translations are not that great. Here I think it’s more likely to be beep beep. Koreans called pagers “pippi” back in the days so he’s talking about getting lots of texts etc.
@@jwg5327Thanks for clarifying! I thought it might be something like that, as Korean seems to use a lot of onomatopoeia kinda like in Japanese - which I HAVE studied, haha!
lol your reaction when you read suga’s “my tongue will make you come on this food chain” lololololol oh always, fun fact, star fish, when they get hurt or a limb gets chopped off, they can eat organic materials to regrow their limbs. so when you try to hurt suga with hate, he just grows back stronger.
I absolutely love how you do your research beforehand. The attention to details makes the meaning have much more weight. And the way you break things down. You're one of my favourite reactors and I can't wait to see more! You should absolutely listen to Outro: Tear and Ddaeng next!
When you're bi- or multilingual, that's a thing. Your brain is also rewired to use words from different languages to express how you feel. And not all emotions you can express in English, as you may already know. 😁💜
LOL your reaction when J-Hope started. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Cannot wait for 4 and the Medley...... if you do DDAENG, I HIGHLY recommend you do the DKDKTV channel video for explained by a Korean for that song, otherwise the lyrical genius of the track will not be realized...... up to you though..... there is the lyric video option of course and there are a couple of live performances of it (one from a festa they did a year or two ago and one from their recent 5th muster where the vocal line actually rapped parts of it)..... glad you are enjoying them 💜☮️😎 They have caught a lot of crap for going the idol route, like it somehow lessens their skills as rappers..... and a lot of those throwing shade their way don’t have any amount of success outside of South Korea, whereas BTS are worldwide, so yeah, even those who have stayed in SK try to do bits of English like it somehow makes them think they are more authentic if they rap in English....so BTS will point out not only that they are worldwide but do English too.... and Japanese here and there too.... so the haters need to take a step back and take a look in the mirror. My own interpretation..... Suga’s track “AgustD” and RM’s “Do You” and “Joke” are pretty direct too..... from their solo mixtapes...... J-Hope’s mixtape is awesome too but more optimistic and lighter...... but all are amazing and crazy good. Sorry for the long comment.
At some point since Suga got you with his lines, you should react to his mixtape by the name of Agust D. His songs one that mixtape are hard and one song, The Last, explains more about who he was and is. Anyway, I am new to watching your channel but so far I love your reactions!
Supreme Boi was actually one of the founding members of BTS along with RM but he chose not to debut and instead took a Producer job with BigHit Entertainment and has produced some of BTS music since. A lot of people don’t like him though because he has said some shady things about BTS and hyped his own rap crew (that has some very questionable (bad) people attached to it) in one of J-Hopes mixtape songs and people thought it was disrespectful.
Yeees SUGA owns pt 3 😍 also after you watch ddaeng, there's a video explaining all the word play that's really cool to watch! Just a tip! I love you watching these they deserve the love ❤️❤️❤️
This is probably my favorite Cypher (DDaeng being my other top favorite thing the rap line has done). This and Ddaeng just...you can feel their superiority over their haters.
Honestly if you're digging Suga in this you need to check out his mixtape. Especially like, Give it To Me and Agust D. And RM's mixtape too. And J-Hope's. All jokes aside, I'm super excited for your reaction to Ddaeng. I swear it's Army's favourite song hahah. It uses the word ddaeng in so many ways. I see people recommending you watch an explanation video and it really does help understand how they're using the word in it's different forms. I really like this cypher because they each use so many flows, the style and the pacing and the enunciation changes. It's incredible to hear their versatility. And I think that when they start getting all soft spoken and quiet it's even more intimidating than when they're spitting the words out hard and fast. There's just something amazing about it. Have you listened to J-Hopes mixtape Hope World? The development in his artistry really shows itself. Looking forward to your Cypher 4 reaction!!! A reaction to my favourite cypher from my favourite reactor! And remember: you nice, keep going 😆😆
700th like coming in, love you’re reactions, after you do ddaeng react to the explanation, it shows their lyricisms as well as how fcking smart these guys are ESPECIALLY RM! Then if you’d like outro:Tear is the rap line as well and that song SLAPS
I like 3 and 4 the best but all are great :D I waiting for Cypher Medley :D I'm Suga stan so its always pleasure wacht this reactions; and I hope in this rap line thing you doing now you find time for Outro: Tear;)
God I really enjoy so much your reactions and the way you explain things especially regarding the cypher series 😂 you seem to have really a good time and that makes it more enjoyable. 💜
BTS have two main lines of rap, one is the rap lines individual mix tapes. The songs they release are raw raps different and more to the point than the group raps. Then you have the BTS raps which is the cypher series. Back at first debut they suffered alot of backlash with both RM & Suga both underground rappers as they were thought to have "sold out" to become idols because they couldnt cut it. Usual crap. So the songs they released around that time were a reflection to the haters on their skills as rappers.
Bangtansubs' translations are a massive help and pretty much necessary to fully understand rap lines sometimes. From their translation of this song: "The term ‘삐끼/bbi-kki’ is slang for a touter or someone who goes around attracting people to come to particular nightclubs or bars. These touters also often address everyone as ‘unnie’, regardless of gender. The term also sounds similar to the word ‘미끼/mi-kki’, which means ‘bait’."
BTS rapper write their own verse. RM, Suga and JHope have their own flows. they are not repetitive. in every song they have their own flow every time. BTS rapline are 3 of the best rappers in the world!
I've been waiting for this one. I think it might be my favorite. I haven't quite decided yet. I enjoy your reactions and look forward to them. Btw, this is @NoonaForBTS
When Cypher 3 first came out i remember army was like 'is Jhope not in this track?' because he had improved so much his it was like his voice transformed
What's amazing about this cypher is that this was on Dark & Wild, their first full-length album, and so still really early in their career! So much swag so soon! Also: Google Doolsetbangtan for better translations. Side note: I also think D&W is one of their best albums.
Givenchy is a french design house with a long tradition 😉. I think yes, jhope is meaning all the people rapping and singing in English hoping to become succesful also in the west
Of the proper cyphers, I think Part 3 is my favorite. They all go so hard on this one and show their versatility. Ddaeng, the unofficial 5th Cypher, is amazing as far as wordplay (I suggest watching the "Explained by a Korean" breakdown of those lyrics by DKDKTV). And then there's Outro: Tear. *sigh* The rap line just slays everytime they're together.
I'm so curious what would you think about RapLine solo songs from Speak Yourself tour. During Cypher time, they were aggressive and so in the mood to fight with haters to prove their worth. Later they become more introspective and less angry and it shows through their music. Like... check out RMs "Trivia: Love" this is so wholesome song. Also, RapLibe individual mixtapes are worth your time.
There's a running joke in Korea that many rappers sound like American rappers, even if they rap in Korean. People think that's why they sound very similar often. Especially the newer bands. Think, last five years esp. There are ones from before that too, ofc, but it's more prevalent now.
That BTVS ringtone tho! Cypher 3 is rapidly becoming my favorite of the Cyphers. I love 4, but it feels so complete to me. Cypher 3 is, like you said, more creative and gives me something new to appreciate every time I listen to it. RM's sheer swag on "welcome to the monster plaza/this a cypher, I'm a rider/Imma ride it like a biker". The way J-Hope commands everyone in live performance to "fall silent" like the haters. Suga's infamous "Hong Kong" line and the way he speeds all the way up. Also, speaking of my bias, I'm happy to hear you show him some love. :) There's a sick video game style animated video for this song you should definitely check out (ruclips.net/video/KYCNH-31KvQ/видео.html), and it just has so many awesome easter eggs and shoutouts in it.
I don’t even know if this is needed or not but I’m gonna say it anyway, when Jhope was talking about the people who rap in English he meant korean rappers who think they’re cooler and more awesome or intelligent when they rap in English rather than korean but their lyrics are so cringy and shallow, in the korean hiphop scene there’s a lot of ignorance and appropriation things
And you are on point in your comments and interpretations again, well done 😊👍🏻 So Sugas tongue technology got you on this one, that bts does, one by one they attack you and next you know you are ot7, wich is not a bad place to be at all 💜😂
It makes me laugh each time (not in a negative or wrong way, I love your reactions) when people say (for any video) "ow it's not their usual style" because they are soo versatile. Like ifor RM, if you listen to his first whole mixtape, you will find so much side of him and then if you listen to his second mixtape mono, you will discover again a very new him. Please after the cypher, react to Ddaeng and Outro : Tear and then maybe each rapper's mixtape :) (Ddaeng and Outro : Tear are also rap songs, so only 3 members)
Though I think J-Hope has a point to an extent with some people just doing music in English to gain attention, I think there is also validity to kpop idols doing songs in full English and stuff of the sort. Often times, they already have an established fan-base overseas especially in places like America, so English versions of songs or unique English songs that groups might do can often times be to try and just create a better relationship with their international fans and acknowledge them too. They don't lose their validity as a Korean artist just because they do a song in English. It's like saying idols and groups who do Japanese albums are selling out to appeal to the Japanese market. They're not trying selling out, they're making a sensible marketing decision. Hell, BTS has a couple Japanese albums, and now even THEY are releasing a full English single in like 2 weeks.
J-Hope was addressing kpop rappers who "try to rap in English." Basically saying that switching languages doesn't hide their lack of skill. You said it yourself. RM doesn't "try" to rap in English, he succeeds. More than that he plays with it doing whole verses in English, whole verses in Korean, and times where he interweaves them. RM is ARMYs poet. I had to go back and check, but you haven't reacted to Augst D.... Suga goes off!
Just saying dude, you would LOVE Agust D's (Suga's) mixtapes, especially "The Last", "724148" and "Agust D". From Suga you should really listen to "First Love". Really like your videos, you seem so genuine and I respect that you look like you're having fun with what you're doing. Keep doing what you love mate!
Ive always thought that jhope means all of those fried rappers who are from english speaking countries are getting stepped on him in their own countries even though hes from korea
You saying Suga sounds like he's going to maim anyone he's talking about.. At this point still Suga was the one who kept the kids in order in their dorms. And apparently he was extremely efficent. You should see him in his role at their Korean interviews - where his and RM's (*) battle rapper skills are excellent help, but as RM has his hands full of being leader, Suga is their defense. Any time there is an attack, he takes it. And other BTS almost lean back and take popcorn out and enjoy the best view Suga casually and calmly destroying his opponent looking absolutely bored out of his mind. Funny thing is that Suga apparently never yells when he's angry. He all together very rarely raises his voice. if he does, he's always joking - it is that if he screams, it is him jokingly whining about something. The louder Suga is, the better and more relaxed the situation is. But the more quiet and dis-interested he seems to be toward the situation, the more danger the other is.. Also he apparently never gets physical, he can demolish a proper city, whipping out that tongue technology. :/ (*) apparently in the capital area's underground hiphop scene RM was uncrowned king. Eventually nobody wanted to go against him in battles as he smoked you so absolutely, with his sexy brain. * Suga is always taking us to Hong Kong with that tongue technology, Yoongi marry me.
I can’t say for sure because I will have to look back on what I read, but from memory I’ve heard BTS gets criticized for being popular in the Western world...or that accuse them for catering to America or whatever. I think those critics (underground rapper peers? Other artist?) were just jealous over BTS being liked over here and now they are trying to do an-all english rap to cater to the American market. So, like... I think J-Hope is is kind of saying well now you want to suddenly cater to America by rapping in all english? BTS stayed true to themselves on how they usually do it, Korean and some english. Anyway, long time ARMYs can tell you better than I can I bet.
Ok ya convinced me. Ddaeng will come after the Cypher Medley.

Oh so you're in LOVE love with J-Hope 💞💗💞💗💞💞💗💗💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚💙💛💛💙💛💙❤❤💓💓❤❤💘❤💓💓💚💚💙💚💛💛🧡💜🖤💖💖💖💜💜🧡💚💟💟💞💝💝💞💙💙💞❣💞💛💙🧡💙🧡💙💛💗🧡💙💙💛💝💛💞💛💝💛💞💛💞💛💞💛💙💛💙❣💞💟💞❣💛💞💓💙💘💓💓❤💙💙💗💗💙💙💚💛🧡💜❣💚❤❤💘💙💙💟💚💛💛🧡🧡💌💙💚💙💗💗💘💙💞💞💚💚💙💛💛💙🧡💜🖤🖤💌💌❣❣💟💟💝💝💞💚💚💛💛💓❤💚💚💓💕💓💕💜💕💜💜💕💜💜💚💜💜💕💜💞💟💝💟💞❣💟💜💕💜💜💕💜💕💓💚💟💟💝💟💟💞💛❤💛🧡💛❤💛💛❤💖💖💗💖💘💖💖💟💚💚💜💚💛🧡🧡💖💖💗💙💙💘💘💙💗💙💟💞💜💕💜💜💕💜💚💜💜💕💚💓💕💚💜💚💜💚💕💚💕💚💕💚💕 I get it, I get it.
it's honestly so fun for me
Those flows are crazy!!! Change like 5 seconds a time!!
I love all of the cyphers, but this one is my favorite. 💜💜💜💜
I can't wait to watch your reaction to the next few vids, your reactions are top tier 👌👌👌
Stan j-hope, he's the ultimate best boy 💚💚💚
Cypher 3 is one of my favorites. They all completely kill it. Can't wait for number 4.
I feel like you’ll appreciate the flow of jhope’s rap in cypher 4 because of how unique it is
I love how you pause and read the lyrics and make sense of them before moving on to the next verse. You're reactions are the best.
BTS rapper write their own verse. RM, Suga and JHope have their own flows. they are not repetitive. in every song they have their own flow every time. BTS rapline are 3 of the best rappers in the world!
J-Hoooooooooope my bias 😎💜💜💜
I've been waiting for this one. I think it might be my favorite. I haven't quite decided yet. I enjoy your reactions and look forward to them.
Btw, this is @NoonaForBTS
Thanks for the reaction I love how you dissect the song and the lyrics, I always feel like I learn something I haven’t realized about the song before
I have been waiting for you to hit this series. You have to do the live cypher medley. It will rock your world. The energy is CRAZY.
If you haven't already I highly recommend to check out Stop the rain by Day6 its a medal song
💜BTS best performance is 2017 MAMA, 2018 Melon music awards & Dionysos comeback stage! very amazing💜
Supreme Boi is one of their in house Producers ..and was once a member when it was a rap group
Have you reacted to their cypher medley live? It is literally the most lit medley I’ve seen
Ddaeng should be the next one, It's the unofficial Cypher 5. Love your reactions💜💜💜💜
thanks youtube, finally recomending quality reaction content ^^
I'm so curious what would you think about RapLine solo songs from Speak Yourself tour. During Cypher time, they were aggressive and so in the mood to fight with haters to prove their worth. Later they become more introspective and less angry and it shows through their music. Like... check out RMs "Trivia: Love" this is so wholesome song. Also, RapLibe individual mixtapes are worth your time.
Cypher Medley 2017 my fav
omg, you have the Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme as your ringtone! xD Cool!
I love Killer, it's such a good song, it's my favorite of the cypher's
There's a running joke in Korea that many rappers sound like American rappers, even if they rap in Korean. People think that's why they sound very similar often. Especially the newer bands. Think, last five years esp. There are ones from before that too, ofc, but it's more prevalent now.
You need to check out Suga aka Agust D's self produced mixtape! Please do the song actually called "Agust D"!
There's a sick video game style animated video for this song you should definitely check out (ruclips.net/video/KYCNH-31KvQ/видео.html), and it just has so many awesome easter eggs and shoutouts in it.
FYI, Givenchy that RM mentioned is a fashion brand just like Chanel or Ralph Lauren. Enjoyed your reaction.😊💜❤
"Ddaeng" is the unofficial Chyper 5. If you do react to it please wach "Ddaeng explained "by DKDKTV RUclips
And you are on point in your comments and interpretations again, well done 😊👍🏻 So Sugas tongue technology got you on this one, that bts does, one by one they attack you and next you know you are ot7, wich is not a bad place to be at all 💜😂
I already enjoy your reactions, and then your ringtone is the Buffy theme? Haha you are awesome!!
Spring day or tear
Would you ever consider doing a live reaction to the full mixtape of JHope's Hope World?
Yeah!! My favorite cypher!
I'm loving this series!
lol your face after Suga's verse 😂
Part 3 live is amazing too
I came into a BTS concert with no bias and left Suga-biasedand it was bc of this track.
Please react to outro: tear after cypher medley & ddaeng it's also kinda like cyphers but the meaning is very deep & the song is a bop
Yessssssssssssssss!!! But tbh, this dropped to my 3rd fave just because Istg Tae could've done Supreme Boi's hook.
After you're done with rapline you could do a few vocalline songs like house of cards and truth untold (both studio and live)
Suga 🔥🥰😍💜🤩
Would be glad if you do cypher 4 live version countdown
Please react to Outro:Tear too! It's another song only with the rappers and it's amazing!
you are funny! also ddaeng is like the final cypher, you should close with that...
nvm just saw your pinned 😂😂
Please listen to Agust D - Agust D! It is so good! And also Rm - Joke!
React to "BTS Cypher Medley LIVE 2017."...leave caption ...OFF ...incorrect ...SO LIT..they own the stage
Please react to the live performance 2017 BTS Memories We are Bulletproof Pt.1 +2 + 힙합성애자(Hip-Hop Lover) ~ thank you 💜
J-Hope was addressing kpop rappers who "try to rap in English." Basically saying that switching languages doesn't hide their lack of skill.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!
I love #CNS BGM.. Anyway i love sunshine hobihobi too
Ive always thought that jhope means all of those fried rappers who are from english speaking countries are getting stepped on him in their own countries even though hes from korea
(*) apparently in the capital area's underground hiphop scene RM was uncrowned king. Eventually nobody wanted to go against him in battles as he smoked you so absolutely, with his sexy brain.
*
Suga is always taking us to Hong Kong with that tongue technology, Yoongi marry me.
Tysm for your Reactions to the Cypher series!!!
Pls also react to Ddaeng Explained by a Korean on the DKDKTV channel (english)
please react to “tear“ and to “august d“ and to “ddang“ (and there is even a vocal line version of ddang at 5.muster, it's so cool)
Am I crazy or is your ringtone the opening theme of Buffy???
