    Since it uses AMD Ryzen, it's really more of an HP Envy replacement, which explains the sacrifices. Unfortunately, premium chassis & AMD don't seem to mix for most OEMs. Since it's really an Envy in disguise, it needs to go on heavy sales to be worth it, which should be possible given the precedents of Envy laptop sales.
    I hate that HP changed to the Omnibook branding to make its lineup more confusing. It's clear that this was a deliberate choice to sell cheaper laptops at a more premium price.

    I saw this the other day with the Ryzen AI 9 365, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD configuration for £1200 with HPs 3 year care pack bundled in at no extra cost. For that price it represents good value and I was debating buying it but felt unsure because of its heft, dated design and mixed results and thoughts on its battery life. I wanted to see more reviews of the product and noticed that you would have a review out on it by next week so I waited. Thanks for the thorough review and for testing Linux on it! Unfortunately the price is now back to £1750 in the UK and the HX375 doesn't seem to be available here yet. If it goes back to £1200 I might just have to get it. Never buy and HP laptop. I bought the Elitebook from 2022 thinking it was a premium device only to realize how poor build quality is for the price. What made me sell it at a loss was the palm rejection "feature" that sometimes would kick in for normal input use, locking the pointer in place. I thought it was broken so I contacted HP support and they send one technician after the other to check on it and they all confirmed that something was wrong but they couldn't fix it. Support ended when HP indeed confirmed this was a feature and not a bug. I couldn't believe it. Never again HP.

  • @andyH_England
    @andyH_England Месяц назад

    I agree that £1500 to £1750 for this laptop in the UK is quite expensive. Intel and AMD premium ultrabooks are now priced similarly to MacBooks in this market, largely because they have shifted to starting at 16GB of RAM. A couple of years ago, I purchased a premium ultrabook for £800 to £900 with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB storage drive, which was all I needed to enjoy premium features. Now, with influencers pushing for a minimum of 16GB and no options available for those who still prefer 8GB, it seems we have to lower our expectations.
    I am sure that in 6-9 months when a new chip is due, this will drop to around £1200, but it is still too expensive for me. The 60Hz and 2.2K are fine for my usage as I do not game. Luckily, I got a new HP Omnibook X Elite on eBay for £600, so that suits my needs (office and browser-based). Still waiting for a couple of apps (Google Drive) to be available, but I have found workarounds for the moment.
    So, for price-sensitive buyers, this is a hard reach.

    Great review thanks for putting the effort in these videos.
    Here are a couple of suggestions for things I think are worth measuring.
    1. you're the only channel I've seen that tests laptops from the prospective of a software developer, testing Linux is great but I'd also like to know how that affects battery life and power consumption when sleeping.
    2. Battery tests for high performance work loads is not fair for higher performance laptops. Maybe testing how much battery and time is consumed to complete a heavy task like compiling a large application or expiring a video.
    Again keep the great work
