you can see what i did for the lord... for the pre-castle part, i tried to use arrows as much as possible to fend of enemies while upgrading ASAP. i had to throw some orc riders out to fend off the hoards while waiting for mana. but once my bar hits 9999 for the first time, there is not that much waiting. you should be able to get 2 red dragons while waiting for your titan unit to be respawnable, so by the time you call 2 red dragons you'll have 9999 mana and a titan unit. approximately.
about the lord of hells ground pound. he dosent ground pound with the number of units........ he ground pounds when theres ANY ground units near him. EVEN 1. even something like a squire. so the only units yo can use are: elf titan (forest guardion), red drag, and angel. i know from experiace. rate up to keep this alive!
that is the Elven titan unit... you unlock it by fully upgrading your Tower in research (last upgrade is 70,000!). Then it costs ~6000 mana in-level to send one, IIRC.

I used them every time they were available and they did not cause the lord of hell to ground pound. I'm not sure what triggers it, either.
The "boss devil unit" is just that red demon with horns that walks on the ground and when it attacks it shoots a red version of the angel's blast with a sort of spike/eruption at the end. You see it around level 13+.

The Lord of Hell does ground pounds whenever there are enemies he can reach. When you first destroy the castle, your guys are closer to the demon than later on, so he ground pounds until they're dead. Dragons, angels, and titans all have longer range than the demon, so they're safe. He attacks again if you send small units until they're dead.
@schoolnipples except it is epic war 2... for 1, it is. for 2, this vid was added in Dec 08; EW3 wasn't released until well after that, yet EW2 was released then.

Hey, on a different site, it says "kongregate only" for orcs. I filled elves and humans research, unlocking the angel soldier. Also, i don't know for sure, but as I'm playing, like, now, he isn't pounding, same with last time I played him. he came in, killed my titan and angels, and all but my dryads/wizards. They seem to be out of his reach. Last time I played him, he killed my guys, not my wizards, and then waited a while, and then pounded me to death.
to get units go to upgrades menu and buy the things by clicking on the buttons. then in a battle click on (or hover over to see description) to buy when you have enough mana. Sadly it does not stick on each level like the achivements do. :(
Oh nah, I had an Arch Angel hitting it, he started ground pounding like crazy. I think it's based off of how close you get to it. When I summoned a Devil unit, he just moved face first into the Lord of Hell and then it started ground pounding.

I got this thing down to 1/3 of its hp. I didn't realize it was hitting my castle everytime it "Pounded the ground." What a waste, I had 2 Arch Angels hitting it with 1-2 Angel Knights. I did that and repeated. It killed my castle, Damn. 40 minutes wasted. After that, I checked youtube to see if anyone DID beat him. Great stratedgy. What do you unlock in the end? I assumed that the Arch angel's were too close to it and it triggered it's ground pounding frenzy.
Simple and yet very entertaining game. It's by far easier to win with elves since Lord of Hell doesn't pound the ground when you're with elves using only special/major units. Same doesn't apply to humans and orcs.
I can't blame him if he ground pounds because of too many units. Latter in the game, a good zerg-rush tactic can turn the tides as mana resotres quickly so you can spam-summon the race units and maybe hobbits and bombers.
you know the devil looking guys that shoot flame across the playing field against you? there are a bunch in this video... those are the devil guys. that's what you unlock.
you could just stop sending anything... then the lord's minions would eventually take out your wizards/clerics and castle. or you could just send a lot of paladins, causing the lord to ground pound your castle to death.
I beat him with Humans, angel spam. It was a very very interesting battle, his health drained at about the same rate as my castles. I won with 1000 health left.

I played the elf class on that battle. All my class is maxed out. The lord of hell ground pounded me only 2 times. One occured right when he appeared and another is when I used a single bomberman at him and nothing more. I did used only titans and dragons and 1 angel at him.

I used Human with first 2 arch angle to build to block the incoming armies while build up the angels, once then arch angels is dead, the pounding from the pounding from the KoH will stop, then i send 2-3 clerics (first mage) to heal up the angels =p for sustainable.
i had trouble with this one but i figured that you can only defeat him with ranged units angels do not count defeating him took a long time but its more simple then rushing him

last battles for games like this are usually the hardest levels. I can see you rly were competitive enough in all your weapons and shit to complete it
I always used humans or Orcs to defeat the Lord of Hell back in the day. This way I could receive a proper challenge that wasn't boring.

elves unlock after you beat level ~6, orcs after level ~12. not sure if those are the exact levels, but around there.

yes it does... each achievement unlocks 1 creature. and the annotations tell you how to get the achievements.

Manyually, you can press "D", which is conveniently right next to "A". Or you can just autofire, and send everything flying with a touch of a button.

It's recommended to use a few hobbits as well to let the totems attack the hobbits, while letting titans destroy the king of hell.

The ground pound is activated by any unit other than the titan, angel or dragon attacking the lord of hell
@mackroh of course it's easy to beat the Lord of Hell without arrows, what you really to try is beat The End without arrows, see if THAT'S possible

The angels also attack melee when they hits whit the sword then they use range damage

Every time I use it it's greenish-yellow.
when you use ground units then he groundpounds you but if you only use flying units like the elven titan and the angel then he wont groundpound

It's not stronger, but it attacks from a longer range, so it doesn't trigger ground pound.
