Brilliant! Takes me back to when I was lucky enough to have been there to enjoy listening to and buying The Jam albums, singles, badges, song books, flexi discs, magazine features etc... Much appreciated 😊👌
Nice collection. Sold and gave all all of my vinyl from '77 to '82 (to Groucho's in Dundee). Really don't miss them. I had all of the UK vinyl releases plus the SC & Jam boxed sets. It seemed important at the time not to hang on to them once I converted them to digital.
Hi Gav, I jumped after The Jam. I have all albums and singles of The Jam and saw them three times back in the day. But I just have never been able to get into The Style Council or solo stuff. I still love and listen to the Jam now. Great collection Gav! Mike
Hi gav the jam are my favourites but I’ve only got the studio albums plus a greatest hits. I’ve a few CDs. I’ve never seen those large deluxe sets before so thanks for showing them. I’m going to attempt to track them down physically not online so it might take me a while 🤷♂️
Thanks Gav. An interesting collection. I got into The Jam when I was 14 - around October/November '78 - in the wake of 'Tube Station' peaking in the charts. I then saw them 'live' 12 months later at (I think) Portsmouth Guildhall, promoting 'Setting Sons.' My ears are still ringing! After the brilliant, but underrated, 'Funeral Pyre' dropped from the charts around the summer of '81, I suddenly lost interest and gravitated to other bands. About the time you got into them, I guess?
I became aware of them in 82 at junior school discos! Along with the specials and Adam and the Ants - I was a little metal head so didn’t really go back to the jam til I got a CD player in 1990 and picked up Snap! Which is such a great album- then went back thru his catalog when the the 1st solo album came out (which is a brilliant album) - I got the style council last - I was amazed on the Weller 66 video comments how many old Jam fans hate him now and totally boycotted the style council !!
Good spot eagle eye Jim ! I left hit parade out - as it contains cross polluting of the “council style” variety and I couldn’t cope with more traumatic Jam fans comments on the evil that was mick talbot ! However it will appear when I do the inevitable sequel on his second best band video !!! Thanks for comment- have you watched any Planet of the apes movie yet ? The original is a stone cold classic imo
I just listened to Snap yesterday (2xLP). It wasn't my first Jam record, but I think it's a solid collection. I'll going to see if I can track down Extras. I have never seen that one. You have a fantastic collection!
Thanks for the compliment- it’s been built up over a LONG time !! I counted 12 different full live concerts across those reissues! . I’ve been in 1977 all day today !!!
Excellent video very informative. I bought all the albums as they came out and have quite a few of the compilation box sets. Extras and Reaction box sets were a revelation at the time . But I didnt pick up the individual album box sets do I might look for those. I dont think Ive ever seen that Fire and Skill box and that confused me because I have the Fire and Skill album which is basically other artists covering jam songs the best of which (by a country mile) is Liam Gallagher and Steve Craddock covering Carnation. I think I have seen Paul Weller live more than any other artist in all 3 versions of his career (though only saw the Style Council once - at live Aid) and was at a gig at the Rainbow in 1979 but cant remember the date so not sure if its the one on Live at BBC. The one that really interests me is the music machine 1978 - I saw the jam there in December 78 maybe a few days before xmas so interested if you can tell me the date on that one. Got tickets for a Q&A that he's doing at Rough Trade records in London in a few weeks should be decent. You're inspiring me to do something on the Jam on my channel. Great stuff mate, keep em coming, you're doing great.
@@gavaxemanspins I like a lot of TSC stuff. They always had a great sound even when the songs weren't always too strong. A better singles band than an albums band I think. Good luck with it

Thanks for commenting- I’d certainly have a lot more space in the house if I went fully digital !
Great collection 😊
Thank you - didn’t realise how much stuff I’d acquired over the years ! Thanks for commenting 🫡
