- In this video, I show off this really awesome box set I recently picked up for Pearl Jam's - Ten. There are lots of cool things in it and its the ultimate collectors item for the Pearl Jam super fan.
Ten is the debut studio album for Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records. Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. Most of the songs began as instrumental jams, to which Vedder added lyrics about topics such as depression, homelessness, and abuse.

I was 21 when "Ten" came out. Saw them live a lot between 1992-1995. They'd play for $25-$30 all the time. The fan favorites and my favorites on the album, apart from the singles, were "Black" and "Porch". Porch got played live and people would lose their minds. And as someone said "Yellow Ledbetter" was a fan favorite. Later generations thought they sounded cool when they'd claim Yellow Ledbetter sounds like it's ripping off Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix (true or not true, they didn't sound cool, they sounded tedious). The little girl with guns postcard was the artwork of the Jeremy single. KROQ and Live105 played Evenflow more than anything else. I have the Vs/Vitalogy super deluxe box. One Interesting little note: on the Vitalogy tour, the band refused to sell tickets through Ticketmaster or any ticket outlet that charged a fee. They released an 800# to buy tickets and that was it... great era to spend your twenties, from Pearl jam to Nirvana to Smashing Pumpkins...
Awesome stuff. I heard about their Ticketmaster boycott, really badass of them. I'd love to get my hands on the Vs/Vitalogy box.
That's super cool they added that Mamasan tape in there. I'd suggest listening to the Zurich 92 boot if you ever get a chance. It explains that those 3 songs form together to tell the story of "incest and murder". Alive is the incest, Once is the Murder, and Footsteps takes place from the jail cell after the fact.
It's cool you're getting into PJ and hopefully they'll play LA soon so you can see them. I'd suggest joining the Ten club for the yearly 7' and a chance to get tickets early. As someone who's seen them on almost every tour since 96, it's a religious experience that you have to experience at least once.
My favorite 90s release. I got an original copy on vinyl. Had to get this on cassette as well in my opinion the cassette sounds richer than the vinyl and cd

I don’t know if you found it yet , but there is a really cool smaller poster of drop in the park , it’s like a water color print . I have this box set and I believe it’s in the sleeve of the drop in the park record .

I decided to purchase this box set pretty much when it came out but decided to keep it sealed. Just noticed one copy on amazon.ca for $1,479. I have to wonder if I suddenly went cross eyed and didn't see the price tag properly €=•P Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Such an incredible, iconic album, but then again, I feel like every one of their early albums (Vitalogy, Vs) were iconic.

Different version than the traditional Long Road, I'm assuming. Love that song. The story behind it is beautiful if you haven't heard it.

Since you got the 10 reissue, might as well continue with VS, Vitalogy, and now No Code and Yield.
I got VS and Yield - waiting on a better deal for No Code (although the packaging looks epic) and I found an OG pressing of Vitalogy for $15 at Amoeba!!!

Honestly, hit or miss for me. I can get into The Money Store and some Ex-Military but Jenny Death was horrible, to me. I don't like their super heavy stuff.
