Excellent video and really appreciate you taking time out to explain everything in so much detail. I had one question: I am filing a provisional utility patent along with two other joint inventors, so in the Web ADS should I electronically sign for all three of us? As in just type /First Name Last Name/ for all of us? Also, in the cover sheet SB/16, there is a space to list all the inventors but the signature is only for one person. So should I submit 3 cover sheets for all the joint inventors or just submit one SB/16 with my signature? We are all individuals (micro entities), so I will submit three forms for the micro entity status, correct? Any guidance would be super appreciated! @kudekar... as you correctly pointed out.... Here is the SB16 link. www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/sb0016.pdf The very first order of business listed on the top of this form is.... List of Inventors. So list them, all of them including yourself. Scolling down it asks for only one address, so that is for you, the person filling out the form. Page 2, bottom of form... There is space for only one signatory, and in this case that would be you. You may sign electronically / XXX KUDEKAR/ . There is no need to submit 3 cover sheets. REMEMBER... you are memorializing your idea here. This document is machine read only, no human reads it. I am at 23:50 of your video. I am confused on the Specification for,. I did not recall downloading a specification form. Kindly, where do I locate that. Thank you.
@dgulovsen5... there are only 2 forms to file, the SB15A if you earn under $212,352 annually www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/sb0015a.pdf & the SB16 form www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/sb0016.pdf The specifiaction is what you are documenting about your invention.
Ive got a question. First I’d like to thank you. Exceptional job. So I am uploading my PDF documents to show the drawings of my device. The PDFs will not upload and they have the red error emblem saying the file size is too large. But those files are actually smaller than even the PDF for the patent application cover sheet. I just can’t figure it out. I have saved it several different ways as a PDF and still nothing. Any insight from anyone on this? Thank you so much. Very much appreciated.
@onlybestproducts.... Call for help... SEE ruclips.net/video/87J-VeU1KiE/видео.html also all file names must NOT contain any spaces MUST be run-on phrases. Have your pictutres, images & line drawaings included in your Specification file, do not put in seperate file. Remembder this PPA is only to document your idea.
@user-bf2hl7id7w... no there is not. When you've upoladed all of your files and it's time to pay, the PTO by default puts all filers in the small entity category, the filer has to manually change it to "micro" or "large" entity. Pay careful attention to the end of the video and you will see this.
Submitted patent, but was denied for micro-entity status due to the e-signature used "/" forward slash. Just an FYI for everyone, do not use the forward slash. Sign with an iPad or Print it out and Sign it! Typically "/s/" or "/Name/" is used for e-signature. But the process to file has completely changed now since EFS Web is gone and we can file electronically. E-signatures shouldnt be a problem!

@uwannadance1971 I'm aware of that thanx. I haven't made a new video on this change as of yet. I've been up to my eyebrows dealing w/ a non-provisional application that I have in the Office.
Hello, I received conformation by mail. But in the packet there is a page that says Notice to file missing parts of provisional application. It saysI have 2 months to pay additional fees of 300.00. It says I must apply for micro entity status. I must file forms 37 CFR 1.29 and PTO/SB/15A and 15B. I thought that I had done that according to your instructions. Do I need to redo it? I have had an impossible time checking the status of my application on the USPTO site.
It says I did not sign the micro status form. I signed it with the forward slash then my name. I need to figure out how to fix it or upload a new form. Ugh. I just can't find where to go on the USPTO website to find my filed forms
Hello, Do you know if there is a problem with the USPTO site. I can sign in but can't access the patent pending status. It always says page won't load. I have not received an email confirming my application yet and its been close to two weeks. I am hoping to get a customer number so I can submit my idea to a large company that requires that I file a patent first.
@dgulovsen5... you must take the time and effort and call the PTO. Here is the link: www.uspto.gov/patents/contact-patents Remember, PPA's are memorialization of ideas, that could be filed as a Non Provisional patent app. at a later date, (up until 365 days, after which time your PPA is abandoned.) A non Provisional patent application is not a patent either, because it is PENDING. Until such time that you recieve an actual Patent Grant w/ the requisite claims etc., you don't have a patent either. What you essentially have , is only an idea in the form of formal application that is on file w/ the USPTO and they are going to rule on it. So, be careful when approching any Company until you have a real Patent Grant in hand.
Hi man, Thanks for your videos. I have a question please... I have submitted my PPA, and it's been almost 5 days, didn't receive anything... and specifically, no receipt. Is that normal? I mean, how long it takes to receive your receipt? I checked my email multiple times and no receipt at all, or even anything related to the PPA submission. Thanks again!
@ElegantAstronaut ... With the PTO there is no rhyme or reason sometimes w/ regard to their communications. My very best advice is to ALWAYS call them! SEE Video... ruclips.net/video/87J-VeU1KiE/видео.html I tried answering your last question "about subbmitting your claims in a PPA," but the YT program would not allow me to respond for some reason. So my best answer: if the PTO doesn't require something, in this case claims in a PPA, leave it at that, sometimes less is more. 2 things: your PPA gets deleated in 1 years time if you do not follow up with a Non Provisional. Also, your PPA gets abandoned in 60 days if you do not pay your fees OR any late fees due them. So call them!
@worldclassinventors Thanks so much for your response! As for the previous comment, I deleted it since I watched multiple videos and found the answer, and I didn't submit the claims with the PPA, and I will do it with NPA. I will definitely contact them now. Thanks again!

Hello, I made it through the process with success. However, I never received a conformation email from them. When I log back in, I cannot find where it shows my patent filing information. Does this mean it did not go through properly?
@dgulovsen5... If they took your money it is most probable, that it went through. My email reciept took a couple of days before I recieved it. My hard copy took about 10 days to come. If you got all blue or yellow triangles and you checked your file uploads and there were no red triangles, you will be good.

The very first order of business listed on the top of this form is....
Its purpose is to establish a priority date which will expire in 365 days unless you submit a non- Provisional application.
Inventors oath: 35 USC 15

@@worldclassinventors That's super awesome!! You just saved me a ton of headache. Your clarity, patience and explanations are always spot on! Thanks so much for taking time out to explain. I'll recommend your channel to whoever asks me about patent filings with USPTO!

The USPTO is a very complicated affair. Send me an email and I'll send you my Ebook on inventing.

Just in time, thank you. Quick question, I'm currently in the talks with a Chinese company to build my first prototype. I'm almost done finishing my patent but I was wondering if I should even rush with finishing the patent before sending all the files, 3d animation etc to the company. What are your thoughts on this ? Thank you
@BusinessVentura.... Question... Does the Peoples Republic respect US IP law? You should find the answer for that one first. About you being in a hurry, "Don't rush in where Angels fear to tread." The game you are about to play is filled w/ thieves marauders.
@@p.m.77 .. thanx right back at you.
I am at 23:50 of your video. I am confused on the Specification for,. I did not recall downloading a specification form. Kindly, where do I locate that. Thank you.
Is that my drawings?
Hello, is there a form equivalent to the SB-15A for someone who is a small entity filer that I have to submit?
Where would you go to do drawings for your Patent
@cashjeff8168 www.jblpatent.com Jeremy Black is my patent draftsman and he is wonderful to work with, over 20 yrs experience, reasonably priced, look in the description below in my last 3 videos. highly recommend him!
Could that yellow triangle be due to spelling your middle name wrong on 'customer number' or 'correspondence address...???
@box3976 I don't have the answer for that... it just happens
EFS-Web and Private PAIR was retired and they're routing all apps through Patent Center.
@dgulovsen5 ....you have options..., watch my latest video ruclips.net/video/87J-VeU1KiE/видео.html or email me and we can get to the bottom of it.
Hello,
Do you know if there is a problem with the USPTO site.
Here is the link: www.uspto.gov/patents/contact-patents
Remember, PPA's are memorialization of ideas, that could be filed as a Non Provisional patent app. at a later date, (up until 365 days, after which time your PPA is abandoned.)
A non Provisional patent application is not a patent either, because it is PENDING.
Hi man,
Thanks for your videos.
SEE Video...
ruclips.net/video/87J-VeU1KiE/видео.html
I tried answering your last question "about subbmitting your claims in a PPA," but the YT program would not allow me to respond for some reason.

@@worldclassinventors Thank you. I did get all blue and 1 yellow triangle and I believe my payment went through.
@@dgulovsen5 ... let me know when you get your reciepts
The website is so finicky. One second an option for provisional cover sheet is available then reload the page and its gone..
@energieumbrella7140 ... Type in USPTO SB 16 fill it out online, then download it to a file folder. Same for the SB 15 A. Print them out, sign them manually, scan them back into the file that you are going to pull from when you upload those docs to the PPA
What are specifications?
@yah9489 I am going to send you a link to a very valuable published patent... patents.google.com/patent/US5318342A/en Tommy Bahama's folding beach chair... print it out. Colums 1-4 are the specification, which explains to "an individual of ordinary skill in the art" how to make this invention. The patent concludes with the claims, which are not part of the Specification. The Claims are the focal point of the invention which provides what is actually protected under USC 35 112. I sent you the link , that explains all of this, scroll down to § 112 I have it highlighted for you.

@@worldclassinventors I just printed most of that out. Very helpful and takes much of my fear of screwing up my application. Thank You, Thank You.
@@yah9489 that's great! go get 'em.
Two machines is STELLAR advice...! that credit card outage thing is something NO business person in the REAL world could get away with and stay above water !
The PTO and the government create and break their own rules, it's their game to play..., that's if you want to... and by the way, I still want to. You see, a patent is the best calling card an entrepreneur can have to open doors or to raise capital, it is a hell of a slog, but totally worth it. My patents shortened my estimated work clock by 20+ years.
Thank you. Question. On the cover sheet, does every co-inventor name listed have to sign the cover sheet? Or just the person submitting the application?
@fjobe1... just the inventor submitting the form. However, there names must be included, look at the sheet carefully and will have confidence.
