I’m not a baseball fan. I couldn’t tell you much about anything. I’m here because I saw the Jordan vid where Bob was asked to come back next week for this. My goodness can this man make you interested in any story he tells.
Worst baseball bad beat is Mets-Braves Game 5 NLCS. The over/under was 7.5 runs both teams. 3-3 15th inning bases loaded. Robin Ventura hits a Grand Slam to win the game 7-3, right? The team started to celebrate only the runner on third touched home and the official score was 4-3 therefore hitting the under.
1) I know he’s MLB, but still think he would be great for Monday Night Football. 2) Definitely not saying he gambled, but there is no way he wasn’t aware of lines when announcing. Nobody remembers a story like that from his childhood & background, and doesn’t follow lines his whole life (even not gambling!)
is this a cautionary tale or a romanticization of a sad addiction? If Bob doesn't turn his Dad's compulsion into a lucrative career its only the former, but what percentage of problem gamblers children manage that ? Odds are about 1M to 1 I'd estimate.
Bob Costas is a fabulous story teller. He should record these for posterity.
