    Kicks owner here, you guys had the best review of the Nissan kicks. You explained the technical aspects perfectly. The gas consumption isn't as good as claimed but it's still pretty good, especially if you take into account how quick it is. I do agree with you criticism that it would have been better if they included a plug in option but at the price point (considering that the cheapest PHEV costs almost 1M more) who am I to complain. I've
    Been driving it for a month now and I think nissan has a winner here

      @drmarkmadarang Is it possible to move the battery in the engine bay (or somewhere else) and replace the tire repair kit with a donut type spare tire? there might be instance where the tire's sidewall gets damaged for some reason and the repair kit is useless. Also does the engine need to run while A/C is on and stuck in traffic? (I've just watched/listened carefully, Vince stated that A/C indeed runs even when ICE is not running).

    The reason why we can not charge the battery of the Kicks in our homes before using the car later is that one full charge of the Kick's battery will last only for 20 kilometers. That is why Nissan didn't install a charging port. But I suppose if you'll upgrade the battery by at least 20 times the capacity, that would be perhaps have some reason to install a charging port!

      Nisan Leaf is an EV, and has no ICE to recharge the battery, solely charged through the cable. The Kicks is an electric driven vehicle with its own gen set powered by gas which is available everywhere. PH has no EV infrastructure for charging (apart from maybe Manila) No infrastructure severely limits the use of a vehicle like the Leaf, or a Tesla, or BMW iX model

    I like how you discuss and present those things. I'm planning to buy one myself but there are two main things that bugs me: 1) the lack of spare tire, and 2) the realization that eventually the battery will eventually die. For the tire issue, my solution would be the same as yours, I'll buy a spare. But I guess I'll end up bringing it only on occasional long trips, or very important trips. For the battery concerns, sure Nissan has a 10-year warranty, but that would be vague. Would that only cover direct damage? Would that cover a loss of 20% capacity, or 50%, etc? Also would have been very valuable if the cost of battery replacement is discussed because it would be nonsense to talk about efficiency (or savings) if there are no hard numbers (even estimate) about the major expense that certainly would have to be eventually incurred down the road. Thanks

      @muratcelikkol4270 Год назад +1

      I think the battery issue that you are concerned about is very small. Will you really keep the car 10 years? If so its only a 2kw battery anyway, and the losses would generally be small. A 2kw battery gas very little range, so the engine runs and bypasses the battery anyway under heavy load/performance demand. Teslas have been around many years with their li ion batteries, check out RUclips vids on those. Many many with reports of very negligible performance loss, hence why u get a 10 year warranty.

      Oh one thing I did forget was that the warranties are quite specific. So best check with Nissan and ask for the policy wording.

      Currently, battery has 300k as estimate for replacement. It was not focused much because the future for battery pricing is very uncertain with the prediction that it will go down due to technology advancement and wide acceptability of EV cars. I think some of your questions are very specific and would be weird to include in a car review. Those are something you should ask with Nissan. For the spare tire, your correct, I just bought a 3k worth of donut tire and be done with it, I now have an EV experience that I absolutely enjoy. I won't go back to ICE.

    Not too sure if the lack of plug-in charging is a negative. I mean isn't that the whole point of the car, to not require wall/socket charging? The peace of mind comes from knowing that as long as you put regular fuel in it, it will not drop to 0%. You also lose the extra hassle of opening the trunk, pulling the long charging cable out ,walking to the charging socket, plugging it in and then then doing the reverse as you leave.

      Because the drivetrain is power by electric motor alone, that's why others call it full EV. The gas engine serves as a generator which charges the battery of the electric motor. Hence, they call it hybrid. This is not a plug in EV.
