- The 2024 Nissan Kicks VE is the middle-spec variant in the Kicks lineup. With a price of just a little over 1.3 million pesos, it's one of the most affordable Japanese hybrids that you can buy in the Philippines. It's almost 300k pesos cheaper than the Toyota Yaris Cross. In this video, we'll test its actual fuel consumption, 0-100kph time and we'll try to cover everything that you need to know about the Nissan Kicks

Finally, somebody reviewed this car properly after more than a year in the Philippine road. Good job!!!
enjoying the kicks as my daily drive for the past year.
- saved on my fuel expenses from 10k monthly to 5k monthly
- enjoyed the performance due to the electric motor. Instantenous acceleration and also high torque
- i work both in the city and the province. Tipid sobra kahit city traffic mababa na ang 12km/l manila traffic
- kayang kaya ang tagaytay / baguio dahil nga malakas ang electric motor. then tipid sa gas dahil sa regen breaking pag pababa kana
- exempted sa number coding. True hrybrid hindi tulad ng Ertiga at Okavango. Nagpapanggap na hybrid tapos pag sinita mo sasabihing "Respeto" shoutout na din dun sa mga gagong nag lalagy ng hybrid emblem sa sasakyan nilang hindi namang hybrid
Pero yung na save mong 5k per month napunta nmn sa premium price ng kotse mo. Maraming taon bago ka maka break even and isama mo na yung degradation ng battery mo, need mo din yan palitan balang araw. Para sa 1.3M pang 7 seater mpv o malaking cross over n yan.

Now, if only he realizes his hanging/untied bangs isn't a good look as it looks very delinquent and unprofessional on cam as it's distracting to the viewer. He is good looking enough without it. 😁 He can keep that look off cam for sure if that's what he prefers.

Now this is what a review should be! The Kicks would make an ideal daily driver. The catch would be the lack of the spare tire, ac vents for the 2nd row of seat and reverse camera. I wouldn't prefer it too on a regular basis.
But good to have it in case you run out of gas.
So it'll estimately give 3-4kms more..

Very detailed and informative review as usual by Sir Jaywalkur :-) Sa lumalalang presyo ng fuel, itong Kicks ang isa sa best choice tlga. It doesn't matter kung mejo cons ang interior design/materials na ginamit pero damn, a combination of fuel efficiency and power is not something you can get to other brands.

About engine parts... nabanggit dati yun dating CEO Nissan yun nakulong mdami daw binago sa parts dahil cost cutting niw kaya since wala na siya binago improve kaya ng Nissan yun mga units engine nila???

Q: Does the electric motor have a separate PMS from the engine?
The motor does not need PMS as far I know, only the internal combustion engine.
Japanese car manufacturers still believe in tactile controls over touchscreens. These keep the driver's eyes on the road. And reasonably sized informative screens to avoid distraction and reduce adaptation (backlit screen to dark roads).

Correction. There is no ICE variant of the Kicks in the Philippines. There's ICE variants in other countries. In the US it comes with a 1.6 liter ICE only variant and has no hybrid.

A good feature for the upgrade of the kicks is the ability to charge the battery on the fly. Either via plug in or a button that will initiate the engine to fully charge the battery even when you are at a complete stop. Making it more efficient and could also extend the range of your vehicle. Another thing for me is that the kicks is far more leans towards EV rather than the usual hybrid like the Toyota's that still.utilizes the ICE. It just looks like you just buy an add on to your car which is an electric motor but could not fully utilize it due to the system that was created.
You can already manually fully charge the kicks, in a complete stop, or even while moving. You just hold the same button that engages the EV mode.
The plug in is a different story. I doubt there will be for the model as Nissan already said that the reason they removed the idea of kicks as being able to plug in is so that they can lower the cost. They don't want kicks to be on the expensive side.

Thank you. It's good at being both, although you'll appreciate its city fuel consumption more because it's significantly better than most ICE vehicles. Highway consumption is also good but not that much better than fuel-efficient petrol vehicles
electric motor battery, after 5 yrs or when you have to replace it. What’s that gonna cost the end user?

coz say you’re saving money for 5yrs, from fuel consumption and expenses, that might look like a backend heavy expenditure for the battery after warranty period/replacing it
Battery can last a minimum of 10 years and probably will get replaced at around 15 years just like other EVs.

What is the cost to replace the 2kWh battery?
Sa lahat ng nissan kicks review eto yung pinaka detalyado. Good job. But the question is, after 5yrs warranty and the battery fails, you need to spend more or less 300k for replacing the battery. Practical po ba ang hybrid like nissan kicks over iCe?
Depends on how much driving you do, especially in the city. Kung madalas ka magdrive sa bumper to bumper traffic, pwede mangalahati ang fuel expenses mo. And if you drive often enough, that can easily amount to 300k in savings in 5 years. Hybrid batteries usually last much longer than 5 years though.
After 5 years battery tech would have improved and maybe lower in price or more mileage for the same dimensions.
Question, can the small battery get sufficient charging when the car is driven at high speed? Let's say 100kph to 120kph for 1 hour.
I guess my question is how long the battery can hold its charge, has this been tested?
It's the acceleration to 100kph that takes up a lot of power. Once you're coasting at 100kph, it doesn't take as much power to maintain the speed. The battery charges pretty quickly when the engine is on so charging really isn't a problem and you can still coast in EV mode even at higher speeds. The engine just turns off and on as needed

Mas mabilis ang 0-100 time ng Kicks kaysa innova. Mas mataas ang power at torque ng innova pero mas mabigat din ang kaha. Ok din sa uphill ang kicks

People getting a hybrid EV may be motivated to switch and no longer worry about the battery. Both Toyota and Nissan have had hybrids and full EV cars in the past and their batteries have gone beyond 10 or even 15 yrs. Btw Nissan offers the modern Li-Ion battery

I think the engine is still connected to the wheel. it is engaging when speed up to 80kph. there's blog showing this proof
The ICE engages to charge the electric engine. The ICE has no direct connection to the wheel at all. As shown by others who actually opened the e power system. No gears connect to wheels to the ICE.
What would you buy kicks, mazda 3 , civic, or empow?
All are good choices. The Empow I think is the most fun to drive, the Kicks is the most fuel efficient, the Mazda 3 is the most premium feeling and the civic has a good balance of everything.

That was congressional avenue and that was the u -turn lane, not the fast lane. It was also a red light on the opposite direction so there was no oncoming traffic.

Is the A/C issue resolved?
yes. A recall was implemented maybe June this year.
This issue popped up just when my father was eyeing this vehicle, I cautioned him about it and ended up buying a crosstrek. Can't think of a reason why Nissan can't bring in the X-trail back in the market with E-Power, they're always late to the party, by the time they show up the Evida Law may be over 😅
@@ednis32 Yes I agree. Nissan has to up their game. It's not like Filipinos can't afford their E-power line up. I think the kicks is their test vehicle. If it sells well, then that could be the only time they will bring their other E-power vehicles like the X-trail or Qashqai.

the engine is only a generator charging the battery so it doesn't really matter much.

Nissan Kicks e power has a base model priced at almost 1.2M net of discounts.
Bigger battery than the Yaris Cross. Just means the Kick's battery is gonna be a lot more expensive.
