- Scanned paper maps, drawings or maps found online may contain useful information not found elsewhere. GIS allows us to georeference a map to link the image its corresponding location. This video tutorial shows the steps to complete the georeferencing of a map with ArcGIS.

i have tried to georeference a google earth image using arc gis 10.1 but each time i try to input the third control point, all the points disappear completely and i get an error message.someone help me please.......
do i have to define projection firs then georeference or which one should come first?

Say I have a polygon shapefile as a layer that outlines a jpg (trace) how do I georeference both the jpg and the shapefile?

Output file format with specified pixel type or number of bands or colormap is not supported.Refer to the'Technical specifications for raster dataset formats' help section in desktop Help.
What coordinate system does google earth use? I'm trying to georeference a downloaded image from it, is it wgs84?
