ATC nerd chiming in here. FYSA, 243.000 is “MILguard” and 121.500 is “CIVguard” State side, most commercial aircraft/ATC entities will be required to monitor one of these freqs respective of their function. Military: 243, civilian 121.5. Do the math and you’ll discover 121.5 is exactly half of 243.0. ;)
For military use, these two frequencies are at the far end of the PACE plan. Primary, Alternate, Contigency, Emergency. In my 5 deployments as a JTAC overseas I’ve never once raised an aircraft on guard..Civ or mil. Why?because in Combat, aircraft typically don’t use these freqs downrange as a monitor net simply because they don’t have the time, or the amount of radios to monitor extra freqs. It’s usually used as an extreme backup. None the less, it is included in PACE plans.
thx
lmao that T-90 operator is so realistic
I love your tutorials, very clear and concise! Keep up the good work.
thx
Dude in the tank got anger issues... Typical grunt xD
Grunts are infantrymen, don’t insult us by comparing us to dirty filthy smelly tankers..😂
@@sonarmb 🤣
Yow man Eagle Dynamics need to hire you or do something just as good...every single tutorial search I do on youtube always gives me a video from this channel. Keep up the dam good work man!
thx Sir
i thought he already is a developer
3:41 M= do what you want,S= sea level ships carrier submarines,C= cloud level tankers Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System , they are just presets removing am/fm and filtering unwanted frequency bandwiths, but not means you cant use them with other. com1 am com2 fm by default, but you did know that right?
Thx Sir
The tank radio got me rolling 😂😂
I've learned more from you than the default tutorials thx Cap!
AFAIK the presets can be changed in the cockpit by pressing clr whilst on a channel and typing in a new frequency.
thx
Thanks for this, I was wondering how to do that. : )
Thank you so much for your ALWAYS informative, short, TO THE POINT! vids. Such a waste of time trying to get it from dif sources. Again, thank you!
8:37 *angry russian noises*
Best part of the video
Lol
Could you mention that it is important to turn the volume up? I had no end of grief trying to set and change channels until I realised turning the volume up sorted everything out.
Good call Sir
CUE is used for freq hop synchronization and for over the air hopset fills
Just getting into DCS (late I know) but recently jumped up from the FC3 F15 to the F18. Without your vids i'd be screwed, excellent stuff and a massive thanks :) Hopefully hour 50 of game time and ill be able to speak with tower correctly
Man it would be so awesome if Have Quick could be modeled for the Cipher mode. Even if it really wasnt the actual frequency hopping algorithm, just something like basic squadron codes being punched in can only communicate on that frequency with those codes would be awesome.
Actually you can edit the presets in the cockpit as well I do it all the time
Could you shortly explain how?
Thanks. Helpful.
What is the I/P button for?
Thanks for another great tutorial !
What video capture software are you using ?
One thing I am wondering is if you can talk over the radio to other aircraft in your flight by just tuning the radio and transmitting and will it transmit your voice?
Use Mids A & B in the datalink to talk intersquad. It's almost like the Hornet has 4 radios
So, a wild guess about the S channel being for Maritime use, It probably originated as "Sea" or "Ship" channel. On a side note, does DCS allow use of voice comms over any of these radio channels? Listening to the Grimm reapers, it sounds like they may be, but it could be a mod for Team Speak or somesuch.
its a program called SRS
@@DanMottram1 does SRS work like the radio mods from Arma where you need to have proper frequencys set to talk to other players in game?
@@KomradeDoge yes, Freq are set using the in aircraft controls and the you choose channels by tuning Freq however there is a pop out window that you can use instead
@@DanMottram1 ty. Does that also mean in 2 radio aircraft like the F18 I can talk on both at the same time? And would the in game volume wheels work properly or no?
@@KomradeDoge yeah, the A10 is a three radio aircraft, so you tune all three radios and listen to all three but you have separate PTT buttons for each radio ( thumb hat switch on HOTAS) for example press it up to transmit on comm 1, press forward to transmit on com 2 and down for com 3 ect.
Great tutorial, thanks! One question - I often find the comms button (\ or RAlt+\ or RCtrl+\) just doesn't work, particularly when in the air, but works OK on the ground. Easy comms on or off, doesn't matter. I have set the frequencies either in preset or manual. What am I doing wrong?
How strange, sorry but have never noticed. Sounds like a bug?
@@grimreapers No worries, thanks - I'll try and play with it some more tonight :)
@@grimreapers Mystery solved - the key mapping in the game settings is \ (plus RAlt and RCtrl modifiers) but they only work on the ground; have to use # (plus modifiers) when in the air, no idea why...
Thanks for the tutorial, but I get the same communication menu whatever I do, whatever frequency I set. Easy Communications is off in the options menu. Any ideas?
I think I figured out what I was missing. You get the same top right communications menu every time but if you use the wrong frequency you don’t get a reply.
Is there any way to see freqs of different units (any) during the batlle itself?
Do you guys offer tutorial flights?
I'm in the UK.
grimreapers.net/one-to-one-lessons/
s stands for ship & sea probably why it says s in the radio lol
how can i " enable GUARD monitoring " ?
4:19
@@adamrickman2461 omg. Thank you ! I need it for a Mission
How do you know which of the tower frequencies use what modulations?
I think all freqs under 100 in DCS are FM and vice versa??
love it
Thanks cap!
How to add presets in mission editor?
How do i Turn off auto radio menu pls tell me
It's called "Easy Radio Mode" in your main menu game options.
i feel like you skip a lot in these tutorials. for example after watching this video i have no idea how to turn on my radio and contact atc to reguest startup. you have all your systems already running when you do these tutorials.
@Oliver Butler thanks. My problem was that i could reguest startup before doing startup cz radiois wouldnt turn on without startup. do you see where im going with this? I found answer from ground power
If we turn that off it makes skrqskrkqkrkskqkrkskqkskrk sound. Lol
-.- adf tutorial?
vid should be visible in a couple of day :)
