    Thank you for not yabbering over the work, using a close-up for tool work, and making this look a bit easier than all the ubber-professionals who make me run for the hills. This is one of the tools I don't have, and after watching this -- and using regular pliers and getting quite frustrated -- will be purchasing these. Look forward to viewing more of your vids. Thank you .... PEACE....

    LOL! The reason there is no yabbering is because I can't talk, demonstrate and make sure I don't knock the camera over all at the same time! This tool needs some practice to get used to, though.

    Great video, thanks for posting! I ordered a pair of step jaw pliers on ebay and on the back they have a warning that they contain lead! I don't know how bad this is, but now I don't want to use them. So I went back on ebay and found some that don't appear to have lead in them. The seller was in California but pliers are say PAKISTAN on them.

    You can buy these pliers from many jewelry suppliers. I think Amazon also has them.
    I bought mine from Evie's Tool Emporium on Etsy.

    I bought mine from an Etsy store. Many jewelry suppliers and stores do carry it so hope you can find a pair where you are going.

    Excellent! I much prefer instructions without the endless chattering. I realize more complicated issues/designs may need some verbal direction but the less the better for me. Thank you!!

    I wonder if your pair has a sharp edge somewhere which is cutting your wire. If so, you may have to file and smooth it down. I typically use 20-24G wire with this tool.

    The pliers are called bent nose pliers. You can also use 2 broad nose pliers rather than the mix I use. I find the bent nose pliers more comfortable ergonomically so to use in my right hand. I also don't have duplicate tools. Try out your tools and see which works for you.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I have a question relating to these particular pliers (I've tried to get it answered elsewhere without luck). I have a pair of these and have tried using them as you demonstrate, but they always seem to cut my wire before I've even finished. What am I doing wrong? If I hold them loose enough to prevent this, the loops don't come out correctly. If I grip it firm enough to work with the wire, it cuts the wire. Are they meant for a tougher gauge wire? Thanks for any info.

    Odd, but I like the silence broken by the crow cawing in the background, lol! At least it sounds like a crow.
    This looks like a really cool tool to own - I buy for my daughter who's taken up jewellery and so far she only has two pliers. Looks like I should also get her a cutter? Do you recommend a type of cutter one should have? Thanks!

    A lot of tools are now manufactured abroad. Lead is dangerous when it gets into the body - ingested or inhaled. So handling the tool is not likely to be a problem. A lot of the lead toxicity is due to inhaling dust from old paint or drinking water from old lead based pipes. People who work in making these tools are far more likely to be at risk than you. Children are far more vulnerable to lead toxicity. They tend to put things into their mouths and perhaps swallow them.

    Hi, I bought these for making ear wires. I think maybe these aren't the right ones, though I have made several weird shaped ones.... let me know?

    • @beadinggem
      @beadinggem  8 лет назад

      +Susan Jensen These are not for making ear wires - you need the large bail forming pliers. Please search my blog (Beading Gem) for the tutorials. Having said that, you can use the looping pliers to make consistent loops including the small loops typically on ear wires.
