It seems like the wood pieces have potential to become really nice if you have confidence to finish them your self. but I agree, for that price there should not be no need to doing that and no crack in the stock!. I made a wooden stock and hand guard for my TM AKM. the wood really adds to the look and feel of the replica in my opinion. I also replaced the gastube to a steel one from E&L. it requires some fitting though. Good job on the video as always !
Great video, Its pretty frustrating when you don't really get what you should be able to reasonably expect for your money. I have a couple of questions about your TM GBB's; 1) If you were to go for a folding stock for the AKM what would you choose? 2) Can you recommend an NPAS for your TM AKM and your TM MP7 ? Thanks in advance.
Hello I just bought a TM AKM what do I need to do to the akm for it to shoot heavier bbs more accurately and further distance like 75m would you be able to help me
Just upgrade the nub and use .36s BB upwards. You may also want to upgrade the rubber to a maple leaf decepticon 60-70 degree if you need to eek out a bit more range
@@OllieTalksAirsoft is bavtac nub and maple leaf rubber finr if I get them both ? Will this help with the accuracy and distance of the bbs I wanna be hitting 75m is that possible ?
You can still get stuff from Russia. I ordered a bullgear drum directly and it came from Moscow. Of course I referred vocally and now it gets here faster and I don't have to sign for it. I work nights as so I'm not home during the week and have a hard time getting up in the morning. At first I haven't been so much problem if I can easing it. Which is authorizing synonym to leave at your doorstep but it is not working with international packages.
Timely upload for me I think haha. I just bought a lower wood handguard from a GHK AKM and plan to modify to fit the TM. But I have been looking at this kit since it got released even if I only ever need the lower handguard. I too like the color and grain of the faux stock wood furniture over the RA-tech kit. The GHK AKM lower hg I bought looks better too. At USD120, I think it might be better to just find 2nd hand or new GHK/LCT/ wood furniture and mod it to fit the TM.
Thanks buddy, I agree but now I get wood I'll keep it on. Real AK furniture could be made to fit, I spoke to my carpenter friend about it recently but I decided against it for the time being just because I'm skint, thanks Northeast!! Next up I'm going to do a foldable modernised AK!!
TM AKM has arrived and you’re not wrong, what a beautiful bit of kit. Will try it out tomoz. Also bought an AceTech Bifrost tracer which I’ve tried on my SRC MP40 and wow…well impressed. Had confirmation that the SVOBODA wood kit from Impulse 101 is on its way. I’ll let you know the outcome when it arrives. Thnx
Please do, and I'm really glad you're happy with it so far. I reckon you'll be looking at the hopup soon so you can lift heavier BBs but I'd just get used to the rifle first and just use .25's and you'll have a blast!
Yes, I’ll run it a while in standard trim. But….I’m sure I’ll be adding the Mr Hop Up, Bowmaster 130 and corresponding piston. ( assuming yours hasn’t broken from the extra stress) I’d appreciate the details and if pos parts No’ of your supplier. As stated previously, I’m new to gbbr so don’t want to get the wrong bits. So far….happy bunny. PS, I can recommend shooting into the garden from ( a dark) bathroom with a tracer,…it’s blindingly deafening. Thnx
SVOBODA wood kit arrived today from Impulse 101. Drops on straight out of the box, tight with no rattles. Like yours, edge of top hand guard was not stained, but a rub over with a furniture scratch remover ( brown felt tip pen) sorted that out and a light scratch on top of the stock now is invisible. Before it arrived, I’d planned to re stain it similar colour to the faux wood, but the colour is a good match to the pistol grip and maybe just a little redder than the Ra Tech, so I may leave it, at least for a while. There doesn’t appear to be any colour disparities across all three pieces, so overall very happy. Stripped rifle down to fit the Maple Leaf , only to discover I’d bought the AEG version, which isn’t the same. Bowmaster and piston are also on the way, but having seen you video assessment, I may leave the piston out for a while and run the Bowmaster on the standard piston. Thnx for the videos and tops
I got it from JKArmy in HK, delivered to the UK in about 2 weeks. BUT there is a new AKM wooden kit that looks wayyyy better, I'm not 100% sure who makes it but that's where Google comes in. I think it was a Facebook post but I don't use FB.
Such a shame on the wood… yeah 100 per cent agree if it’s 120 pounds it should be perfect. Great video as always Ollie 👍 mite be sooner than I thought getting back to airsoft 😎
I would value your opinion on this TM GBB Ak. Is it worth the money, as against say an aeg blowback…which is a lot cheaper ? Great vid though. Will avoid that wood if I get one. Thnx
100% worth it but the mags are hard to find but they run and run and the recoil is way better than any blowback AEG. They are just a lot of fun to shoot. You won't regret getting one.
After almost 2 years, i finally have a GHK AK74.....and i always planned to buy all the Zenitco catalogue.....got the PT-1 stock and some railed handguards (well, from 5KU) but then i realized, i need a fcking Stock adapter that allows the PT-1 to fit on to the AKM-style fixed stock....and i cannot find any other than the real Zenitco one, which doesnt really ship to germany......i hate my life ;_;
@@hermetek7 Thanks, but thats not the one i need ^^ i got an AKM platform, wit ha fixed stock only, and to attach the PT-1, i need an adapter, to fit the PT-1 onto the receiver :/ .
@@FXTRT1-1 I don't know if the 5KU is milspec, but failing that the 1913 adapter might work if you can get the 20mm stock adapter on the receiver first
I feel sorry about your experience with RA tech, I am not very familiar with RA tech products so I can't comment too much on that. But might the GHK AKM furniture could fit onto TM AKM? I will love to know if both systems have parts compatible.
I think badabing has both so I may reach out to him to ask what the comparability is like between ghk and Marui. Having seen the GHK wood tho it's a lot better than RA-Tech's version.
hey Ollie, I've actually made several sets of laminated birch furniture for many Type 81 rifles, and I've seen the issue that you have with your stock before. The stock is made from multiple sheets of plywood that are glued together. What happened here, is that the glue-up between two of the layers is failing. They either did not use enough adhesive, did not clamp it properly, used poor quality adhesive, or some combination of all of the above. You'll notice that the crack follows a perfect line, and its because it is the gap between the two panels that were laminated together. Unfortunately, the integrity of the stock is completely compromised. Moisture will be able to penetrate, and over a long period of time, the recoil will cause the stock to continue to split on the failed lamination. Unfortunately this is 9 months after you've uploaded the video, but that is unacceptable and should be refunded.
Damn hearing about the recent-ish QC issues with GHK and now RA-Tech (though people have been complaining of QC for years to be fair), wonder what's going on. Bet it has to do with the strain on the supply chain in every industry. I bet RA Tech sent your kit out knowing of the crack and lack of finish but since they are low on stock (probably) it is better for them to send out and hope someone just keeps it then to wait on receiving and making more inventory to make your kit right. On a weird unrelated note, I have noticed that the quality of even a bag of chips has gone down (lack of flavor, less chips, etc.) so every industry may be affected. Hope the world gets out of this funk.
The wood "fail" to look real because real laminated furnitures are made from plywood that have thin layer ( 0.8mm-1mm each) meanwhile airsoft use much thicker sheet (1.5-2mm each layer). Thicker layer cause the furnitures to have less layers, thus affect the grain pattern
Just got my ra tech wood kit delivered today. Everything Ollie says here about the kit is spot on. Very underwhelming in every respect bar the fit. The finish, feel and quality just is not the high price tag. Mine thankfully didn’t have a crack but other than that a real disappointment.
Damn sorry you also had to go through the pain, I reckon stripping of the awful finish and re varnishing a bunch of times will have it looking a bit more like a actual AK furniture. just need to find time to give it a go!

Is there another kit you would recommend mate? I heard the Shien is great but can’t find one?
Is it a crack..or has the stock been made in two halves and not properly consolidated. ? Just a thought.
I had a double check, its a crack 😞 but with loads of new accessories coming out who knows how long it will be a problem 🤣

It's basically on par with the TM plastic weight wise, not heavy and resiny like it should be 😔
